Kind of like the title asks. But what magic items would an efreeti have and USE in a combat encounter? Especially maybe some 1 time use items like necklace fireballs.
For one time use I think necklace or wand of fireballs is probably one of the best thematically you are going to find.
Efreeti Chain (legendary chainmail) DMG167
Thematically anything along the lines of Flame Tongue would work well I think. Flame tongue dagger perhaps. The RAW Efreeti does an extra 2d6 fire damage with its scimitar as is, so not sure if this is helpful.
“Efreeti…..bedeck themselves in brass and gold torcs, chains, and rings, all glittering with jewels.” So based on that just about any magical ring or amulet, limited use or rechargeable. Ring of Fire Elemental Command maybe?
Efreeti already have innate fire magic and immunity to fire, so a Necklace of Fireballs or suit of Efreeti Chain are actually not that useful for them. Efreeti are arrogant but they're also smart and cunning and one that makes a habit of carrying magical gear would seem likely to try to choose items that expand its versatility, like a Wand of Fear or a Wand of Paralysis, which could be useful for capturing mortals it wishes to take as slaves.

"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
How about an item that would legit overcome an opponent’s resistance to fire damage? Or something that offers general protection to boost its relatively low AC, something cool though, like a animated shield. Or if you really wanna go with expendable items, how about taking something like a necklace of fireballs but replacing those beads with ones that cast snowball instead?
If you were a player character playing an Efreeti, what would you want to go get. I am thinking, whoever may come attack me, will be prepared for fire damage. So I would want something to over come that. He knows about absorb elements, potions of fire resistance, fire shield spell and ect. So I would want something to over come that resistance, like IamSposta said.
okay. hear me out.... Rings of Chromatic orb. not TECHNICALLY a RAW magic item, but it isnt hard to make them. so i included a tutorial
take the Ring of shooting stars
replace Magic Missile with Chromatic orb
(optional) make chromatic orbs cast from these rings deal a preset damage type
give him a ton of them
ssssssuuuuuuurrrrrrrreeeeeee, they probably have Absorb elements but, its a high level(i think) spell. hit them with Chromatic orbs, let them waste their spell slots, and then, when their magic recorses and hit points are depleated, go in with the scimitar

This is completely wrong. Efreeti are innate spell casters, there is no such thing as "Innate fire magic" and they can not cast fire ball, actually the only fire spell they can cast is wall of fire, and maybe you could say summon fire elemental is a "fire spell." Almost all of the spells they can innately cast are utility. Necklace of fire balls makes sense as something they could use but sill might have a little left over for the party to loot, if the Efreeti is defeated quickly. Efreeti chain is +3 to AC would bump a RAW efreeti to 21AC that's nothing to laugh at. Efreeti chain is something that makes sense for them to have a would have good benefits for anyone who defeated the Efreeti.
When we talk about what a monster would have it's as much about what they can access as it is what they would want. An Efreeti may want protection from cold but it may not be feasible for a fire elemental like an efreeti to get that. While an efreeti may not need protection from fire but items they create may have that property due to their magic. These items are often as much for the players as they are the monster. Additionally there is no guarantee that an item operates the same in the hands of a magical creature like an efreeti and your average adventurer.
flame tongue could represent their sword but in the hands of other it could be a consumable item. Maybe only a fragment of the efreetis power remains afterwards and it can ignite for only a short time before being exhausted and reverting to a normal sword.
a soul in a soul cage which could be a gem or something like a bird in a cage
for sneaky characters a secret weapon for them to pull out when threatened as a surprise. For an efreeti this would be a good place to put something like a powerful ice spell implying it's a surprise weapon for use against rivals. For example you may have a dagger of freezing that casts flesh to stone on hit but they turn to ice, a bottled frozen wind which casts cone of cold, freezing sphere or Elemental Gem (Emerald). It would be something they keep hidden and protected because they're dangerous.
Incorrect. There's no specific ability called "Innate Fire Magic" but that's a meaningless distinction because they have plenty of magical abilities involving fire which are innate. They can cast Wall of Fire and Conjure Elemental (fire only) and they also add fire damage to their weapon attacks and can Hurl Fire as a ranged attack. They're already quite well equipped when it comes to dealing fire damage on top of living on a plane where all native creatures are immune to fire. So they could use magic items that deal fire damage, but there's no special reason why they'd actually bother with that vs a different type.
And they can wear Effreeti Chain, but why would they wear armor that gives them an immunity that they already have? Armor that grants resistance or immunity to a different damage type, like lightning or thunder (used by their enemies the djinni) or cold. Also, Efreeti Chain is a Legendary magic item. That's a bit much for a CR 11 monster to drop as loot.

To use the term “innate fire magic” and “innate spell caster” interchangeably is disingenuous at best, especially in this case, and to say they have plenty of magical abilities involving fire is really not accurate. An Efreeti can cast nine spells innately two of the nine spells are fire related, Wall of Fire and Conjure Elemental (fire elemental only).
Hurl Flame and the +2d6 fire damage from an Efreeti’s scimitar are not spells and have nothing to do with the Efreeti’s innate spell casting, they are racial/ species abilities. But even if you want to include those two abilities, Which they should not be, you end up with 4 out of 11 not even half of the Efreeti’s abilities /spells are fire related.
Yes they are fairly well equipped with fire damage without adding something like a fire ball necklace. But I think that it makes sense that items that do fire damage would be readily available to them. Also considering that Efreeti’s main stick is to raid the prime material plan and take slaves back to the elemental plain of fire, it also makes sense for them to have things that would wreck havoc on the prime material plain.
As for the Effreeti Chain…… it is in the name, Effreeti Chain. It is clearly what they would wear. The immunity to fire is only one aspect of the armor. No sentient being is going to refuse to wear armor, because it grants them something they already have when it also grants them a huge boost to AC. Also I think it is fair to say that adding 3 ac to an Efreeti bumps it up from a CR 11.

It would actually bump AC from 17 to 19. It's +3 to the base AC of chainmail, which is 16. That's the equivalent of +1 defensive CR or +1/2 CR. However, it's a legendary item and thus not normally appropriate to a mere CR 11 creature (it's technically possible to roll it in random treasure, at a 0.07% chance).
Efreeti Chain gets its name because it mimics some of the power of an Efreeti, namely their immunity to fire. Do you think that Demons wear Demon Armor?

A 1 time use magic item suggestion could be a Wand of Magic Missiles that the Efreeti use 7 charge to create ten glowing darts of magical force, which after expending the wand's last charge crumbles into ashes and is destroyed.
Efreeti have Fire pretty well covered innately so adding more fire stuff doesn’t make much sense to me. They don’t ignite things xcept by choice since they wear silks and damask. They aren’t especially susceptible to cold or water damage. That means they could have almost anything. Flame tongues, efreeti chain etc are, to my mind, unlikely items to have on a regular basis as they add nothing to the eftreeti’s abilities. They have an ongoing war with the Marie’s so things that grant acid or cold resistance/immunity.the necklace of fireballs and helm of brilliance make sense as “jewelery. Things like armor of acid or cold resistance,( or any resistance other than fire), boots of the winterland, brooch of shielding, any of the cloaks , most magic weapons but perhaps especially frost brands. I would come up with a bit of history and story for the efreet and tailor any magic to that story rather than to a general idea of “efreeti”.
Actually I already gave him boots of the winterland. Especially since he is on the prime material plane at the moment, and has been going to meet a guy in a city and it is winter. Yes, I do not just want to give him items. I need to work on more of his history. Great idea to help zero in on some items.

I'd probably do this in reverse: roll random treasure for the efreeti, then see what items would be useful.
