This has probably been done to death but I couldn't find it. I'm trying to create a custom weapon that does both bludgeoning and lightning damage (it's an electrified glove to be worn by a monk, doing an extra 1d6 lightning damage on an unarmed strike)
I can't find any way to do this in a way that interacts with the roller. I need it to interact properly because it has to interact with Avrae on Discord.
This is the correct way to add it for now, as this is how similar items work. It's the dice roller that currently doesn't support it; if you use Avrae for automated dice rolling on Discord it picks up the extra damage and rolls it automatically.

Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
I do have that all set up but Avrae isn't picking it up sadly :/
That's strange, all items of that type that I've created pick it up and work as I expect; e.g- for a "Rapider of Shocks, +2" (rapier, +2 with an additional d6 lightning damage) the modifiers look like this:
Once equipped to a character (and attuned, if your item requires attunement) then Avrae should pick it up once you run the !update command to import changes. It's possible that if the item was misconfigured originally then Avrae might not see the changes in an updated version, you could try unequipping the weapon, running !update, then reequipping and !update'ing again?

I know I'm late to the party, but I thought I'd share my workaround since this is still a limitation of the character sheet/dice roller. Note: I don't use Avrae, so it may not be optimal for that.
I have a character that collects weapons with elemental damage in addition to the base weapon damage. I created the custom weapons as magical items (as already described). But then, to get the dice roller to roll that extra elemental damage, I manually add a "Custom Action" (corresponding to each weapon) to the character sheet itself. Use the "Manage Custom" button on the top right of the Action tab to create it. Remember to only put in the "extra" damage beyond what it's rolling for the weapon. This new line item will appear under the "Other" category of Actions.
To use it, I click the normal "roll attack" spot on the weapon. If it hits, I click the damage as usual. Then I scroll down and click on the Custom Action corresponding to the weapon. The total damage from the attack is the sum of the two rolls. It's a little slower than if the system could roll everything from a single click, but it's faster than any other option I've tried.
P. S. I use this shortcut for all kinds of situational damage. Some specific examples include poison, Hunter's Mark and extra ki damage (from Deft Strike).

Sadly the customizer can't do this right now.
Unless Try Modifier Damage > Subtype > Lightning > dice count > [weapon damage number] dice amount > [weapon damage roll].

You could increase the damage to 2d6 (1d6 Thunder damage and 1d6 lightning damage), and then on a hit make them take half damage.

Why would they take half damage on a hit? Whats the point of that, you can just make it 1d6.
