I am new to D&D Beyond and D&D as a whole. Some friends and I started a campaign a month ago and I am DM as well as running a character in it. I upgraded to master sub last night so I can share my players handbook with a friend in the campaign and am now trying to share a Homebrew race I found that was published by another user to them (Nerhaken!) so they can mess around with creating a new character as that race - which lemme say to the person who created this one, you are awesome!
According to everything I've read all Homebrew content on my DM account (master subscription) should be usable by everyone in my campaign as content sharing is active in the campaign. But no one can see neither the other persons Homebrew I added to my collection or my own "demo" Homebrew race that I created just to test things.
What am I doing wrong? Can someone please give me a step by step guide to doing this if it is indeed even possible? Remember, I am a complete n00b and have absolutely no idea what I'm doing here - speak to me like I'm a 4 year old!
Also, I apologize if this is something that's been posted before, I tried searching the forums (and google) and could not find an answer to my question.
If they're trying to create a character using homebrew options, make sure they have the Homebrew Content toggle set to 'On' on the first page of the character builder
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Active characters:
Carric Aquissar, elven wannabe artist in his deconstructionist period (Archfey warlock) Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric) Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator obsessed with that one unsolved murder (Assassin rogue) Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)
Subscriptions are not necessary to share homebrew, only to add it to your collection. (A Master Tier subscription is necessary to share everything purchased though.) as AntonSirius stated, your friends need to toggle homebrew content On for their characters. On the Home tab of the character builder, or on the Character Settings sidebar of the character sheet, the toggle next to “Homebrewed Content” needs to be on (red, to the right).
Okay, thank y'all for your responses. My question is (sorry this is my character account) I have the master tier subscription, so I can add others' homebrew to my collection. I did that, I added someones "advanced lizard folk - nerhaken" to my collection, but I want to share that homebrew with my character (and my friends) account through our campaign so we can use the homebrew race in a campaign, but it won't let me do that. Every time I go to create a new character (yes homebrew is turned on) it does not give me the option to create the Nerhaken homebrew race as a character, despite content sharing being on..
How about this, is there any way to create a copy of someone else's homebrew race? When I try to create a copy of the advanced lizard folk - nerhaken the option is not available in the drop down menu for the race creation despite the homebrew being in my collection. If there's a way to do this I can just copy the info from the homebrew and create a new homebrew on my character account to use privately with my friends in our campaign.
I believe so, yes. It is called Advanced Lizardfolk - Nerhaken.
I don't know what happened, but I started a "dummy" campaign at the request of my friends so we could all collectively mess with the new sources we've acquired in the last 24 hours, and by doing this, when I went to create a new character, the option for the other person's homebrew race (advanced lizardfolk) became available!
That can happen sometimes. Your old character was probably stuck on an old cache and the cache updated when you started the campaign (or the new character was running a new data cache).

There is no way to copy someone else homebrew except from scratch. Is that race you added nested under the Lizardfolk main race?
