my players have just arrived in the Icewind Dale and have little suitable equipment. We are playing the SKT campaign and I want to encourage them to purchase yeti coats against the cold as suggested in some DM tips. Accordingly, the first days and nights towards Bryn Shander have been extremely uncomfortable and all party members have several levels of exhaustion.
Our Circle of the land Druid came up with the idea of developing a new spell through meditation or whatever just for such situations. I thought his approach was very smart and good, but I'm afraid that the spell might not be balanced. Therefore I hope for your opinion to the following spell:
You or a willing creature you choose within 30 feet is protected against some of the harmful effects of weather. For the duration, the affected creature is immune to exhaustion caused by extreme heat or cold.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can affect one additional creature for each slot level above 1st, the creatures must be within 30 feet of each other.
A 1-minute casting time is enough to keep it from being cast during combat. Since all it does is prevent exhaustion from extreme weather, having the M component be consumed isn’t really necessary, and I doubt Concentration is either since it will make this spell more fragile and prevent using other spells when they might be needed. And the range of the spell is already 30 feet, so specifying it again in the At Higher Levels section was unnecessary, as were the other caveats you had listed in the description.
All in all this is a good idea for a nice little exploration spell you’ve got there. Just like anything else, it requires playtesting to make sure it’s properly balanced, but it’s a nice little spell.

This is a rough draft of how I would do it:

Hey, thank you a lot! I guess I'm going to update the spell to some of your suggestions.
