Wanna add one or two balanced class features that would help prevent dying to a homebrew martial class. Could "relentless endurance" be added as a class feature?
What about a passive that prevents instant death once per long rest, or maybe twice per week? Something similar to the death ward spell or the clerics divine intervention.
What about advantage on death saving throws, or maybe just one of the death saving throws
This should be fine though probably leave it till you enter tier 3, maybe as early as level 7. For Fighter you could probably just replace Indomitable with it, not like thats a useful feature anyway. Barbarian has Relentless Endurance so their good. This doesn't really fit the Rogue though you can probably fit it in their somewhere. For monk the Long Death subclass makes it a risky thing to add, so I'd use that as a base point and increase the cost as you feel appropriate.
As for the Half-Casters, they're good they have spells.
Yeah this is not a particularly strong feature when it has limited uses. Someone who uses this will still be one hit from going down again. I'd model it off the sorcerer feature if you want to grant it early. If you grant it later, I'd add some other bonus because it's really not that great. In most cases its equivalent to casting shield to turn that fatal blow into a miss.

Shadow Sorcerer has a level 1 class feature with 0 HP to 1 HP avoidance.

My homebrew subclasses (full list here)
(Artificer) Swordmage | Glasswright | (Barbarian) Path of the Savage Embrace
(Bard) College of Dance | (Fighter) Warlord | Cannoneer
(Monk) Way of the Elements | (Ranger) Blade Dancer
(Rogue) DaggerMaster | Inquisitor | (Sorcerer) Riftwalker | Spellfist
(Warlock) The Swarm
Couldn't find relentless endurance in the barbarian class feature list, but I found "relentless rage."
That's what I meant sorry
Apologies are for if you doing something wrong; no apologies are necessary : )
