I'm in the midst of building a homebrew race, and one ability for the race allows the player to choose one spell to learn, allowing them to cast that spell once per long rest. I know how to do just once per long rest, and how to add specific spells if I wanted, but is there a way to make the feature allow the player to choose and then "lock-in" a single spell from the wizard's spell list?
wait so how do i make it so someone can chose any 1 cantrip from all spell lists?
As I explain in the FAQ that I linked above, you would designate the level (Cantrip) and desired spell list (wizard, etc.) and that will generate the desired dropdown. You also need to designate a spellcasting ability too. Just use the following link and it explains it:
