I’m adding the tortle as a homebrew (I bought the PDF), and can’t figure out how to enter their AC? They have a 17 natural AC that shields can modify but not Dex.
Any help will be appreciated!

You also don't gain a benefit from wearing armor. I feel like you still would in this way.
I am making a tortle too now lol. Still think it is stupid that you need a subscription to copy homebrew races into your collection. I just don't understand the homebrew builder very well, and that would be fine, I will learn it in time... if it wasn't for that stupid restriction on seeing the details behind homebrew races. I wanna learn! I wanna see and learn and create even cooler stuff! But I can't!
And no, I don't want to spend money for such a little thing.

Still thx tho.
Armor doesn’t “Add AC,” it grants an “AC Calculation,” and only one calculation can be used at a time. By setting the “Minimum Base Armor,” it effectively precludes everything except plate from working.
A subscription is required to add homebrews to your collection, but it still won’t let you crack it open and look inside to see how it works. We can currently only “perform exploratory surgeries”/ dissect official content to see how it functions. And only content one has access to, so all the free stuff, plus whatever content you purchase here.
Modifier: Set Modifier subtype: Minimum Base Armor Fixed value: 17
This should work! :)
You forgot the following:
Modifier: Set Modifier Subtype: AC Max Dex Modifier Fixed Value: 0
and
Modifier: Ignore Modifier Subtype: Unarmored Dex AC Bonus
But since this 2019 post has been resurrected I dont know if the two above features were in Homebrew back then. But it does serve as a reminder to people that its easier to 'copy' the race you are trying to imitate by using that race as the template and going from there, that way you can see how its been done.

If you use DND 5e wiki dot you can see all the abilities for each race. Most abilities are uncomplicated and easy to put into homebrew. However, abilities such as the tortle's base AC can be painful. The steps noted above should work though.

Actually I realised adding these two modifiers caused the 17 base AC to not work, so don't use them(not sure which I'm too busy to check but it doesn't matter anyway)
