Add a modifer. Select Bonus. Scroll down to Spell Attack or Spell Save DC(they are next to each other). You can add a fixed value or an Ability Score modifier to either one.
I have a question that goes off of this one. When I add a bonus to spell saves, it does not apply itself to any spell actions I make for the feat. Is there any way to increase it?
I'd also like to know more about this, especially how to solve it, as I ran into that problem myself several times.
Connected to that I tried it with the Ruby of the War Mage (as an artificer) and wasn't able to connect that to an item, that's mildly inconvenient and annoying.
Thing is it doesn't change the numerical value anywhere, that's my issue with it. The bonus in the Magic Item Creation is kind of useless as the players have to think of it.
But they do raise the numbers. If they aren’t raising the numbers then one of three things is happening:
You added the modifiers and saved them, but neglected to re-save the entire magic item so the system would know to look for your changes.
You put the wrong modifiers on.
The item requires Attunement but someone forgot to attune the item.
If you did it correctly, then the Spell Attack Modifier and Spell Save DC for that character would be higher, as you can confirm by looking at the header for the Spells page of the character sheet.
Please post a link to your character sheet in question so someone can look at it for you.
I will do so tomorrow, it's a tad difficult on mobile which I'm restricted to for today.
Not the first item I had the issue with. Not even cleaning out the cashe has made a difference. Your checklist is good, the resaving did get me at first, the rest should work. I'll tinker some more and post my item as well as the character sheet.
I came here to ask the same thing, I’ve manually changed both the spell attack and the save DC which works fine, but now I have to remember that my healing spells have an extra point of healing, would be nice to be able to just change it
Is there a recent update to this? I'm trying to find out how to add the modifiers from Staff of the Woodlands. " While holding it, you have a +2 bonus to spell attack rolls."
I'm curious if anyone has gotten it to work in this way: I have a non-spellcaster that is now using a magic item I homebrewed that allows them to cast a spell that has a DC of 8 + Procificiency + CHA bonus. Adding the spell to the item defaults to 8 + Proficiency + Spellcaster bonus (0 for noncasters).
All I want to do is set that Spellcaster Bonus for a non-spellcaster to a specific Stat -- Charisma in this case. Adding a Modifier with "Bonus -> Spell Save DC -> CHA" on the item doesn't seem to change that DC number.
I know that this thread is directed at modifier bestowed from items, but my question sort of falls in line here. Say that my item bestows a DC increase to a particular school of magic. I have set it up as follows:
Modifier Type: Bonus
Modifier Subtype: Spell save DC
Fixed Value: 2
Details: Conjuration
The problem I have found is that this is not reflected on the "Hit / DC" location of conjuration spells on my sheet. I think I know the answer to this, but is it possible to reflect that bonus to a particular school of magic?

No, it would add the +2 bonus to all spells saves, there is no way to restrict it by school.
Is it just me, or is it not possible to increase your spellcasting ability modifier with a homebrew item?
You can add a bonus to the Spell Attack Modifier and/or Spell Save DC, add a modifier for each and it will improve both. :)
How?
Let's throw down

Those modifiers will raise your Spell Attack bonus and Spell Save DC, but they will only apply to actual spells you cast, not Spell Actions.

I do 100% of my DDBing on mobile.
All you have to do is open the character sheet, copy the url, and paste it into this forum. That’s it, easy peasy.

That’s not possible with an item, you would have to use a feat.
