I was doing a little research & noticed there are a plethora of slave backgrounds but not one slaver background. I somehow find this odd. I guess you could use criminal or some other shady dealer background but was hoping for something more specific.
Anybody have a good suggestion beyond just making my own? Perhaps a suitable background?
There is no official slave background either, only homebrew ones. Probably because that starts to touch on topics that Wizards doesn't want to have to deal with.
Yeah I would pick a criminal background and let it be that was why you were a criminal in the first place. Otherwise yeah if you wanted it to be specific to be a slaver then you would have the homebrew that background or find someone who already made one.
While I can see your angle, I will have to disagree with it. If we look at the Duergar entry, under the description it talks about 'Slaves to Slavers'. So it is discussed by the writers, just not fleshed out.

Yeah, but in that case it's clear that slavers are the enemies. Mind flayers and duergar are never presented favorably in official content, and I'm sure WotC doesn't need an op-ed about the RPG that allows you to live out twisted slave-owner fantasies AND be the good guy.
