Hello! I'm doing something ambitious and need some help from folks "in the know". I'm working on porting a really sweet Keybearer subclass over from The Homebrewery (credit User: Devious-Muffin) to use in a completely homebrew campaign I am writing in the Kingdom Hearts universe. I have the thing fully drafted (I don't care about posting to the community at-large, so features isolated to the requisite levels for Fighter Subclass should be a non-issue), but it wont flush to the character builder. In fact, no subclasses are flushing to the character builder, including test ones I write for Paladin, or published ones from the community homebrew selection for either Fighter or Paladin. I ABSOLUTELY have homebrew content turned on (homebrew races showing up) for the test character I have drafted to test levelling up with this subclass' features, but I see none of the subclasses in my collection appearing in the character builder.
I've been scouring the forum for days now, done the logout/login trick, nothing. I guess what I'm asking is- Does anyone have a general fix for subclasses: -That they do not care to publish to the community (and so class features outside the 3,5,7,10,15,18 rule for Fighter should not apply) -That do not appear at all when Homebrew Content is enabled in the character builder.
Apologies if this is redundant, any help would be appreciated!
The class information for a character is cached in that character data, which means that the new homebrew subclass may not appear as an option for an existing character, unless they change the level of their class, forcing all the class data to reload.
tl;dr - try changing the fighter level of the character to see if the subclass appears.
If it doesn't then it's possible that it's failed a validation check by the character builder and there's something up.
Please link it here (you don't need to publish) and staff/moderators can take a look.

Thanks for checking on this SK. I do keep making new characters from scratch to see if it will populate, sadly no dice. Also, scaling said new character's level up in the builder and then checking to see if I can add a class or see subclass options doesnt work either.
To be clear, you can only add a subclass to a Fighter at 3rd level. Is your character 3rd level or higher?
Well thats the thing: I keep scaling up the character to check and see if I have access to subclass options (I'm assuming its where you go to multiclass, drop-down option in fighter?) but nothing shows up. Also my homebrew subclass in question has features I wrote to appear at lvl 1- maybe that is the problem? Features starting at too low a level throwing the whole thing into chaos? Again, I'm not looking to publish so I thought being outside those restrictions for Fighter subclass would not restrict me from just using them in my own characters/campaigns.

Make a Fighter, set it to 3rd level. In the character builder you will see a list of features for the Fighter, starting with “Hit Points” at the top, and “Martial Archetype” at the bottom as the only listed 3rd level feature. Click Martial Archetype and it will have the dropdown to select a subclass.

YOU ROCKSTAR! You just made my day! I will say it is TERRIBLY INCONVENIENT that subclassing from level 1 is not a possibility (friendly opinion/note for DEVs), however once the 3rd level martial archetype was selected, all the lower-level options populated. Now, onwards to fine-tuning, many thanks!!
It just follows the rules for each class set down in the books: 1st level subclasses are a possibility for Warlocks, Sorcerers, and Clerics; 2nd level for Wizards and Druids; 3rd level for everyone else. This website is under contract with the company that actually publishes D&D, so they don’t get to make the rules, just represent them accurately.
If you had followed the link I provided to the FAQ, then expanded the spoiler under the General Homebrew FAQ, then scrolled down to #s 5 & 6 it would have given instructions on how to get it to work.
