Hey, Third, just came across these. You really ought to have this and the other book project thread linked in your sig. I've only skimmed them but might review them ... I will say for some reason my gut take was 75% positive, that is sets 1, 3, and 4 seemed really inspired but for some reason set 2 didn't feel up to the rest of the batch. Will have to figure out why after a real read.
Thanks for the suggestion, I should have thought of that awhile ago. It is now linked in my signature, as well as the info for Levistus's Codex of Curiosities.
If you do end up doing the review, I thank you in advance. It would really help to know why you dislike the second form, if you can figure it out.
Also, for your morale, I hope you understand "views" aren't the same thing as engagement. Looks like your getting good quality feedback from the self-selecting.
I am well aware of that. The "views" thing was earlier on in the thread. The group of people who are currently doing the surveys are helping a ton.
Also ... "illicit esoterica" ... I know what you're trying to do with the wordplay (i.e. to UA), but it rings to my ears a little seedy. I'm thinking some of those 800 viewers may have clicked looking for something else.
What specifically do you mean? Sorry, I'm not great with subtleties.
(Did I use the wrong one of Illicit/Elicit?)

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Illicit means "illegal" with some sense of "taboo" to it. It just has a more transgressive connotation than what I think you're going for. Elicit does mean to draw out, but usually by verbal means, like you illicit a response when you serve a lawsuit. Esoteric being "understood by few", illicit esoteric makes it sound a bit seedier than you're intended. I see what you're doing, a sort of riff on UA but I'd definitely go with a different title if you were going to publish under that name. But for this space, it's harmless. In a more open market people might think you're doing some sort of "for mature audiences" adult content D&D thing.

"Illicit" is something illegal or shady. "Elicit" is a verb, and means to draw forth information from someone or something. Enigmatic Esoterica sounds cool, and if you don't like Illicit I would use it.

A fool pulls the leaves. A brute chops the trunk. A sage digs the roots.
Why do you say that? It deals good damage, at later levels (with the help of a spellcaster) can pick up a Storm Giant by the legs and use them as a melee weapon. They are powerful, and are a unique monk subclass (in the sense that they use Strength instead of Dexterity).

I started doing the 4th survey but got two subclasses in before realizing how late it was. I’ll be doing the remaining 2 when I get home tonight.
I apologize in advance with how much I will by typing up about the Dragon Warlock. If there is one subject of D&D I have spend way too much time researching and learning about, it’s dragons and their lore. Might as well use what gathered from that obsession. 😅
Oof. People so far do not like the Heathen Hunter, especially the Unified Assassin. I thought people would like being an assassin granted magical powers by a church/cult, in return for slaying their enemies.
I currently have 14 responses on the first survey, 7 on the second survey, 5 on the third survey, and 6 on the fourth survey (though it appears like someone did it twice, so that's actually just 5 responses).
I could still use more feedback on all of the surveys, for those who can give it.

I finished the survey, and I feel like these are getting better and better. So far, my favorites have been Juggernaut Barbarian, Moon Domain Cleric, and Deep Predator Ranger. I like the theme of Heathen Hunter as well, but I feel like it could use a little bit better formatting to increase readability.

If I might suggest a name "Enigmatic Esoterica" would mean something mysterious few people know.
Finished the survey! The Titan monk is amazing. I love that you can throw creatures!

i love the dracon warlock!
titan monk seems under powered
I am an average mathematics enjoyer.

Enigmatic is mysterious origin, I like it. Again illicit, heavily implies criminality, usually with a scandalous note to it.

Okay, thanks. I'll probably change it to Enigmatic, then.

Why did you not do Frozen One warlock and Frozen Heart sorcerer? That's a shame. I liked the ideas

I did the others because more people voted for the Towering Titan Monk and Deep Predator Ranger. I will do those in the next form.

What if you multiclass a barbarian and a titan monk
What exactly do you mean, "what if"? You can rage and be big at the same time.
