Tempe quietly breaks the silence from the shadows behind the group as Cisco flies a little ahead of the group so the non Dark visioned people can see further, Asking the question, that seems most logical to him. "Do you think, this may be the tentacle creatures lair?"
“It would seem that building a tunnel like this to bypass the tentacled creature would be quite excessive, though if this were already existing and some of it is underwater, I could see an aquatic horror lairing here,” responds Randall. “We should proceed with caution.”

So, if there is a natural cave mouth to this big cave at the far end, that would suggest we have somehow entered through the artificial back entrance. The question is, why is there a hidden back entrance? Or is it an escape tunnel?
How big is the mouth of the cave? I.e. what sized monster(s) could be making their way through?
Also, for good measure Z will cast Detect Magic and examine the cave, minerals, etc.
"Well, since we are lighting up ourselves anyway, why don't we light up the entire cavern so anything in here can't sneak up on us as easily," reasons Brother Randall. Mildly, he says, "Let there be light," and a mote of sunlight drifts up from his fingertips and moves to the center of the cavern. It glows more and more strongly, until the entire cavern is bathed in light!
Daylight extends bright light of 60' in all directions and 60 feet beyond that dim light, for a total span of a 240 feet sphere, so we should be able to at least dimly see the whole cavern.

Z will venture a little further into the cave towards the centre to get a better look - using his flying speed (magic boots) and moving along the ceiling. It looks like whatever lovers here is water/ground-dwelling, so being high up might be an advantage
(OOC: Z can see 120ft normally in any darkness or light, so should be able to see everything perfectly clearly)
”I have no means to travel down into this cavern and back up again safely, Zenodor,” says Randall, cautious of the long way down, “Perhaps I will stay up here while you scout.”
Z has a 50ft hempen rope in my backyard, which he is happy to share. If someone else has a rope too, we might be able to climb down. Alternatively Z can cast Fly on 2 targets. How many of us need additional fly speed?
