Pepin has mostly the same info as the group, but also has seen the Goblin Hordes break into many Camps that have spread out in a large semi-circle and cut off access to Laurentiis by land, essentially laying siege to the great city (at least by land). The Camps are densely packed and come in three sizes, small, medium, and really large. The really large have exhibited somewhat strange activities, sending and receiving large patrols to and from the other camps.

Ooc. I guess the question is: should we ask them to ferry us into the besieged city - or should we ask them to drop us off further up the coast so that we can approach the Goblins from the rear?
I'm tempted to go for city first. We can always try and get a smaller boat from there. Also, retreat could be tricky if they are between us and the city. But, if we go for the rear of the Goblins, we might get a better view of their logistics and controls. And we might be able to rally the countryside or other powers to encircle the encircling force (think Gauls at Alesia, encircling Cesar's besieging army. But hopefully more successful than the Gauls).
”While it would be nice to land in the city and resupply, I am sure we will be of greater use attacking smaller forces from hiding and perhaps gathering some intelligence on the mysterious motivations behind this attack,” says Randall
OOC: Wasn’t there someone working on Plate Armor for Randall back at the city?
"Well... I know that it saves time not having to forge the pieces from raw materials so that would lessen the overall cost." Realizing he may be talking himself out of a potential profits he quickly adds, "but it's an exotic item isn't it, and not everyone will be able to craft them into armor."
He puts the piece he was handling back down near the others, "What say we settle on the final price when you see the finished product? There's a small chance some pieces might get ruined unless I take special care with them. It's not like working with metals where you can simply reheat them and start over. I'm only going to have one try at it, one attempt to get it right. The final price will still be less than paying for regular plate so you needn't worry about getting gouged like over at Brutwert's. I honestly don't know how he manages to stay in business."

After a festive night, a hearty breakfast, and a few more meetings the ships begin making preparations to set sail. Mynash promises the Colonists that there will be extra visits and some of the artisans he brought with him will begin construction on a proper set of docks. And within a couple of months there will always be a ship docked here. Trade should be better than expected due to the siege on Laurentiis.

Another possibility is to lay anchor close to shore with a smaller boat and walk/swim towards the land, I can help myself and someone else in that regards."

Mynash and the group are aboard the larger of the two vessels and as they pull away from the island and more sails are unfurled, the ship catches the wind and begins to pick up speed. The island shrinks in size on the horizon and eventually fades from view. Other than the constant lapping and crashing of waves against the hull, and occasional screeching of a seagull or albatross, the ocean has it's own peaceful sense of serenity that you can become lost in.
Bow is on the other ship as Mynash explained, "Oh well, oh yes, once we reach Laurentiis it will immediately be reloaded and resupplied. Oh dear, it will then set sail again and you can choose any of the ports along it's trade route for a suitable place to disembark. Oh yes, whichever meets with your approval."

A few normal days of sea travel aboard ship pass rather peacefully and uneventfully. The calm that has settled over everyone during the last few days is disturbed by a call of warning from the crow's nest of something in the water off to the starboard.
Still some distance and hard to make out the waves seem to be lapping at something like a reef in the ship's path. It can't be a reef this far out to sea. The swell of the waves washing over whatever this is makes it hard to make out until you draw nearer.

It's definitely not a reef. Whatever it is, it's floating near the surface. After taking a good look you notice it move against the current which means it can't just be some flotsam.
It is most assuredly a living thing.

Tempe bows to Mynash "Ignis Tempestas. I've joined these folks in their quest, I hope that is welcomed."
Then he equally bows to Pepin "Though it is sad for one friend to depart. I hope that our new acquaintance blossoms in to friendship."
