Combined with earlier injuries, this takes out the lead Worg. The rest vanish back into the forest.
"Great work people. I think they saw this as their last shot at us. The ridge isn't much further. I'm sure we're all ready for a break" Modesty says
Half an hours walk and you reach the ridge. Once an ancient river bank the 80 foot ridge has all kinds of spaces carved into the rock. You set up camp in what is almost a cave cut 10 feet wide and 8 feet into the rock wall, boulders around it. with a camp fire set up at the entrance and the Hunting Trap set beyond that it would be difficult to find a safer place in the wilderness. You finally serve up rations and get to relax and eat.
"I can't begin to tell you folks how impressed I am with you. One day and you're operating like a team" Modesty says smiling. "So before we figure shifts and settle in to sleep or whatever that thing is you Elves do, is there anything anyone wants to talk about? Any questions you want to ask? Of me or each other? Now's the time"
Cerlinde says “I need to rest, but do not sleep, I can help take a watch in the early morning, my owl also will help watch.” After eating some rations. she rolls out a nicely embroidered green blanket, she sits crosslegged against the back wall of the cave on it, eyes open, but in a trance, occasionally whispering some words in elvish or another language. Her owl perches on a ledge inside the cave, but where it can look out into the darkness beyond the firelight.
"Why is everyone here? I think you know why I came but I'm a bit curious. I am also unharmed so I can take the afternoon shift." I turn to the Sargent "And you Modesty, you aren't as *is deep in thought for around 3 seconds trying to find a good word* strict as I though."

I exist sometimes, especially when I'm DMing Curse of Strahd.
Strict? Hmmm. I don't think I've ever been called "strict" before. Loose cannon, yes. Discipline problem, more times than I can count. volatile, dangerously unstable, is a personal favorite" she says with a grin "but strict is a new one. What I am is serious about what I do, about protecting Haven and it's people. Sometimes I go too far and it gets me in trouble, but I'm okay with that"
"okay" she says "I've got one for you. Why steal? The wealth available here that's just up for grabs is more than all the coffers of Mammon combined. So why take from others?" she asks seriously.
"Why is everyone here? I think you know why I came but I'm a bit curious.
"The simple answer is ' I'm a healer' and you guys *gesturing to the party* are deliberately placing yourselves in harm's way for other people's safety...it's what clerics do."
"The other answer is a little complex *tapping his shield*; I'm a healer, who serves death..... Thats a complex story indeed . I won't bore you with the story unless it's asked for; and I'll need ale. It's not a particularly cheerful story for me to relive .
What I will say is, I'm still looking for an answer to a question; well, no, I got the answer and now I'm looking for the answer to make sense. I hope to find it on these patrols."
Ollezall turns to Modesty " I can take whatever watch is needed, but I will need a time of prayer and rest, so the first half or last half of the night rather than the middle would be preferable so it doesn't cause disruption to anyone"
" My question is probably more practical than anything else; what is everyone's ability to heal or give aid to others if they are injured? I can do both offensive and defensive magic granted to me by my patron deity, it would be helpful to know how focussed I need to be on healing, or whether I can continue to lend a hand with offensive magic."
We've been having troubles with the raids ourselves. And while we were able to train most of the folks how to fight and fend off the raiding parties, we were not able to stop them. To do that, a raiding party of our own would have to be formed and the village would be left defenseless.
Anyway I am fine taking a long watch, I am used to it.

Nilvén has offered the Sergeant to take the first watch when the party has been exploring the Wilderness. But she has changed her mind after listening to the other members' proposal, she'll volunteer for the midnight patrol.
The mention of the word 'ale' by Ollezall causes her to express a scornful smile. As a monk, she's taken a vow to refuse any kind of material resources that can offer delight or altered sense of reality since that would be self-contradictory. Thus she has a tendency to maintain a restrictive code of conducts, even though she has never interrupted other people from performing their personal deeds..... that reminds her of the private ritual which must be completed by the midnight....
"I can intercept any kind of damage dealt by a visible enemy, my Battleaxe inflicts counterdamage to slightly reduce the impact"- she declares while removing the straps of rucksack from her shoulders, then replies to Alukilia, "I hunt down monsters who prey on the lives of innocent people, Wilderness Patrol has provided me with a legal opportunity to do so."

* I have never been more thankful my race doesn't have horns, though I'm sure someone out there still believes aasimar blood reverses aging, or snorting meal made from aasimar bones, or chewing ears is an aphrodisiac... She's had plenty of chances to attack me so far, it's likely she isn't one of these 'rare herb collectors'*
"Hey...um, you don't think Sargent and I are 'monsters' do you? It's just evil creatures you hunt down, right?" *Nervous laughing, Ollezall hides his ears beneath his hair*

"The concept of 'Evil' is objective, it depends on the way people perceive each other"- Zhou answers the Aasimar Cleric with an oversimplified idea of metaphysics learned during her training. She's seen whispering something in Celestial to compliment the previous sentence, then preparing to call it a night:
After having rested, Cerlinde replies to Alukilia. “You asked earlier why we were here. I am here to learn about the world outside the Towerwood, what other races call my home. I’ve read a lot but I know book-learning is not as valuable as experience. I hope Also I can be of use to helping the civilized world fight off the monsters, and protect those that cannot protect themselves.”
You made it through the night without incident. After a quick breakfast and breaking down camp you're ready to go.
"Zhou, you taking that Hunting Trap with us? You need any help disarming it?" Modesty asks
"From here we head east. About an hour from here there's a pass through the ridge that'll take us north again. Another day north, then two days south and we're done. Unless anybody has anything, lets go"
The hour passes uneventfully and soon you find yourselves at the break in the ridge that ranges from 40 to 80 feet wide. It's strewn with boulders and overgrown. It's a climb, but mostly not a strenuous climb. It's a nice day, cool breeze, bird calls in the air. What are each of you doing?
For Cerlinde
Your owl makes you aware of the bird calls. Lets you know that there are no birds out there.
Brin grumbles as he looks around. “Sure be sounding like birds to me.” He offers, but takes the warning seriously. He settles back to the rear of the group, letting those with better armor and protection to the front.
