Hun side-eyes and raises a brow ridge at the leader, prior to then turning fully back to the birb and putting his free hand on his hip. "Oh?" He responded testily. However, just as it seemed as if the Kobold might add more, with Kairus stepping in, the little dragon held his tongue for the moment, clenching his jaws at the reasserted offer. All it would take is the bird's refusal for Hun to immediately huff and roll his eyes, stating rather briskly, "Then, as 'payment' for your time, you can have the coin. Now, leave us be. We have other business to attend to."

Despite Kairus' attempt to reassure the birds that an arrangement is still possible, Yulmiath doubles down on ending the interaction immediately. The dragonborn aims to assert dominance over the avian creatures, but the menace in his words doesn't seem to get through to the Eblis. Hun tries something different, aiming to simply walk away instead of negotiating or intimidating their counterparts. The group's scattered approach seems to hit a nerve, and the Eblis begin flutter their feathers.
Unless Kairus managed to come up with something so convincing in seconds as to even give Hun pause, the Eblis "menacingly" fluttering their wings is more than enough of a warning that crap is about to go down. And Hun was not gonna make it easy for them! Yet just as he's about to crank another lever on his shield to get things started, in rolled some fog and words of... retreat?!
Flabbergasted, Hun wastes precious few seconds trying to find the right words before giving up and cranking the lever anyhow!
From the center of which opened an iris in which some tubular object immediately fired out, cutting through the fog before exploding as soon as it got close to at least some of the Eblis not unlike a mortar. However, instead of some fiery explosion or shrapnel flying out, a cloud of purple smoke briefly blanketed the area, engulfing and covering at least two of the bird folk in a lavender dust laden with some reflective minute metals that threatened to cling to their feathers if allowed to settle in mass.
"And there's more where that's coming from if you don't fly you feathered fools." He warns, shoots Kairus last known general direction one last look with mixed feelings, then bumbled his way back behind everyone else.
Action: Cast (1st level)Magna Glitter Bomb, affecting 20ft square [B-75(northwest) to E-78(Southeast Corner)]. Dex Save(DC 14) to any caught up in the spray to avoid being affected.
The birds proved to be stupider and greedier than they looked and wanted to fight without hope to even get out of it. Well, another chicken lunch it is... Though... Five monsters were quite huge and had a clear advantage on the open space... It's not like Kairus did not want a good dinner, but the price could be too high.
Before anyone truly attacked, the triton called to the ocean always sleeping in the blood of his race and the air around the party suddenly was filled with thick fog, hiding the group from the birds. Should the monster be truly related to the birds, there was a chance they could lose interest in something they did not see anymore.
"We can move back to the jungle to shoot from under the cover of trees"
Fog Cloud somewhere on K/L 69/70, to cover us and block the vines-defined patch.
Kairus and Hun are the first to react, though their approach is quite different. The triton takes the defensive approach, covering the whole party in a thick fog cloud that obscures them completely. Well, almost completely. At the back, Rhogal and Krodhen find themselves right at the edge of the spherical cloud.
Hun chooses the more aggressive approach, priming the opponents for some soon-to-come hurt. Just before the fog completely obscures his line of sight, Hun makes a mental note of the birds' positions. The fog covers the kobold and a moment later he pulls a lever. A strange projectile is lobbed onto the birds, catching two of them in a sudden glitter explosion. Through his mental connection with the mimicked spell, Hun is able to feel (but not see) that the glitter stuck to one of the Eblis.
The artificer then runs toward the edge of the fog sphere as well.
(OOC: I am not sure what this warning is picking up, but I'll go with the original rolls in this post.)
The bard's spell prevents anyone in the group from witnessing what exactly the Eblis are doing. What they can hear is the continued fluttering of feathers and the recognizable sound of beating wings.
Suddenly, the fog surrounding the party begins to change color. From its original white, it switches to pink, then red, then orange, then yellow, and so on. It goes through all the colors of the rainbow and then some.
Most party members simply find the temporary changes in color to be strange, but Yulmiath and Kairus find it mesmerizing. They can't stop looking at it even after it returns to its dull white color. A second later, Kairus' fog disperses, revealing that all five birds have taken it to the air. They are all 30 or more feet above ground, but horizontally closer to the party than where they started. (Yulmiath and Kairus are charmed, incapacitated, and their speed is reduced to 0.)
Yul hears Karius' instructions and while he's inclined to follow them, he's currently one javelin down of the four he scrounged from the beach...
Gripping his great axe tightly, he backs through the dense fog hoping to hit the tree line and prepares to hit anything with a beak that comes towards him.
Not really knowing the intent of the birds, or indeed the actions of his companions, Krodhen decides to act defensive (take the Dodge action) but then follow the directions and head toward the tree to the east, seeking any protection the tree might offer from being flanked, but staying just outside the cloud (eg O72/N73) and seeking to see what the birds are doing.
"I'm going to get a look, heading to the tree just to our easy" He will convey what he sees to the others.
Rhogal taps his quarterstaff on the ground and utters "Xylaria!" Causing his staff to gain glowing, green, lateral lines.
He then keeps an eye out for the avaricious avians as he clambers up to the nearby bushes in an effort to see over the fog (Using a dash action if necessary).
Not enough has happened in this encounter for Krodhen to choose aggression, lest he not be able to retract that choice. Therefore, the paladin maintains his defensive posture and walks just beyond the edged of the fog sphere {N-73}. From this point, he sees three of the birds, one of whom is covered in glitter. They are all flying high above the ground (40ft). Furthermore, they seem to be shifting slightly while they move, as if they were each constantly shivering and fluttering their feathers.
With a few choice words, Krodhen summarizes his observations back to the group.
Unwilling to become go out of the foggy area unprepared, Rhogal taps his staff on the ground, magically hardening it. Then, moving forward a bit, the dwarf comes across a large bush. Hoping it is tall enough to break through the fog, the druid begins to climb up.
-> Rhogal's acrobatics check: 6 -> you'll manage, but the dash action is required.
Rhogal slowly climbs up some 7 or 8 feet and stretches his neck (I'm imagining the fog sphere as a dome as to maximize the circumference at ground level.) The mycologist spots the three birds that Krodhen mentioned and the other two as well. They are all "shivering" and about 40ft into the air.
It falls to Yulmiath to throw the first stone, although not immediately. The barbarian backs up a spot outside the fog cloud and somewhat protected by the nearby ledge {P-64}. He spots two birds from his new spot and prepares to attack once one of them approaches.
"Are they still there?" The birds understood Common but at this point, Kairus did not care for conspiracy. He walked to the edge of the fog cloud too (following Rhogal's voice) to peek outside. "So pretty, yet so evil! Guess we can not just over-sit them here?" He sighed and softly sang the, now familiar to everyone, lullaby.
Hun had been running been running some numbers in his head. Between the updates called out from some others and the belated realization of just how far they'd wandered away from the treeline in their pursuit of knowledge and treasure, the kobold scowl realizing the futility of Kairus' "plan". "Hmph! Good thing I always have one in the back pocket! And this fog... can still be useful." He murmured, smirked, and then some degree of care climbed up the incline to his west, trusting the others had the East side well enough in hand.
As soon as he spies aerial menaces fluttering and clearly shuddering their feathers in fear of their grand 'mistake', Hun grins and cranks another lever, sending plates and parts rotating until the frostfire launcher slid into place. "Time for you lot to fly south for the winter! 'cause there's a chill in the air now!"With that and some sharply spoken draconic command, another vial is launched only to explode and release its quick freezing contents over a birb! Then, its back to the fog hoping to gain some measure of safety there again.

Realizing his initial spell might not be a permanent solution to their current predicament, Kairus steps out of the cloud and plays his magically-laced lullaby at two of the birds he spots. Despite it being very effective not a full day earlier, this time, the lullaby falls flat. All birds remain afloat.
Hun climbs the nearby ledge with difficult, pilling a crack on his shield/person once he manages to reach the top. A familiar projectile is launched at the closest bird, but the recoil causes the kobold to stumble backward and down, lading in a prone position {O-66}.
The frosty projectile is accurate nonetheless. (Eblis#4 takes 6 cold damage.)
Spotting their targets, the birds swoop in for their attacks. They each attempt two pecks before flying away. One even aims at Rhogal's head, which is popping out of the fog.
Yulmiath was expecting an attack and retaliates immediately after being pecked once. (Yulmiath takes 5 piercing damage; Eblis#4 takes 7 slashing damage.)
Krodhen was similarly ready, though the paladin focused on defense. Hun and Rhogal can't avoid all damage. (Hun takes 6 piercing damage; Rhogal takes 11 piercing damage.)
