Invigorated by Krodhen's report and Rhogal's success, Kairus steps out of the fog in search of the marked bird and a target for his next crossbow shot. The projectile flies as planned, puncturing the creature's gut. This is the first wound this particular crane takes in this fight, but it is enough to force it to stop its magical shivers. (Eblis#5 takes 9 piercing damage.)
Feeling some of his magical stores dwindling, the bard then inspires Hun one last time this afternoon.

Two party members are now visible from outside the fog cloud, and the Eblis have learned how hard of a nut to crack is Krodhen. Therefore, they focus their attention on Yulmiath. The one bird who is still fluttering and shivering lands next to the dragonborn and attacks:
-> Beak vs. Yulmiath: Attack: 6Damage: 7 (This roll has changed for whatever reason. The original attack roll was a miss.)
-> Beak vs. Yulmiath: Attack: 14Damage: 5 (This roll has changed for whatever reason. The original attack roll was a miss.)
Yulmiath's fighting style is better suited for ground-bound combat, and the dragonborn parries both attacks with his great axe.
The Eblis that is shining with blue spores moves a bit closer but keeps its distance. From 25 feet in the air, it produces a colorful pattern for Yulmiath and Krodhen to enjoy.
-> Yulmiath's WIS saving throw {DC 11}: 17 (This roll has changed for whatever reason. The original save was a success.)
-> Krodhen's WIS saving throw {DC 11}: 11 (This roll has changed for whatever reason. The original save was a success.)
Both warriors dismiss the attempted illusion with ease. This does not discourage the last bird from swooping in and performing the last bit of their plan. It tries to lift the dragonborn from the ground after grasping at his shoulders.
The barbarian fights off the attempted kidnapping, effectively forcing every step of the birds' plan to fail ridiculously. This third bird then tries to fly away but can only move as far as 10 feet off the ground, still partially above Yulmiath. Interestingly, this bird is now almost fully inside the Fog Cloud.
BIRDS' POSITIONS (altitudes relative to ground beneath the birds, which may be more elevated than the ground level the PCs are on):
Eblis#1: {P/Q-68/69}; 0 feet. (injured but still fluttering).
Krodhen remains on the defensive, moving to engage the injured bird (move to Q67) but foregoing his attack and holding Dodge as his action, waiting for the bird to present an opportunity to attack
Rhogal continues his hit-and-run tactics on the one affected by faerie fire, even if he's not proud of it. He is adamant on getting something to sprout!

RESOLVING REACTION
Yulmiath slashes at the bird who tried the lift him up in the air a mere second ago. The attack just barely catches the dragonborn's foe, but it is enough to finally clip its wings permanently. The crane falls on a spot within the fog cloud. (Eblis#3 takes 14 slashing damage and is DEFEATED.)
The bird was somewhat directly above the barbarian, so he has to try to dodge the falling body.
-> Yulmiath's DEX save (Danger Sense):13
Yulmiath steps aside and then on the fallen crane.
Krodhen teases the bird on the ground by approaching and circling around it with his shield raised. He waits for the enemy to make the first move.
Having primed one of the birds for this next attack, Rhogal finally succeeds in calling his necrotic spores to sprout out of the bird's wounds. Although the crane staggers mid-flight, it remains afloat. (Eblis#5 takes 7 necrotic damage.)
Satisfied with his most recent victory, Yulmiathprepares to repeat the endeavor.
Sensing the battle finally begin turning in their favor, Hun charges out of the fog, only nearly run smack dab into the nearest Eblis. "There you are! Time to clip those wings you oversized treat! Have at thee!" The Kobold then begins jabbing at the Eblis, not really aiming to strike it dead until the smallest lapse of judgement on its part to keep an eye on more credible threats of Yulmiath and Krodhen paved the way for a final lunge at the creatures neck!
Movement: To P-70.
Action: Yklwammy on Eblis(P/Q-68/69)! (No disadvantage due to Pack Tactics) Attack: 21 Damage: 5 non-magical piercing.

(@Blue: You may attack with advantage, so here's another roll on your behalf: 13.)
Aiming to put an end to this fight, Kairus and Hun step out of the fog with weapons in hand. Kairus aims his crossbow at the bird who is still up in the air, while Hun pokes the one on the ground. Both attacks are successful. The bard's bolt punctures the crane's wing, forcing it to flap with difficulty. (Eblis#5 takes 5 piercing damage.)
The kobold aims his spear-sword hybrid weapon at the grounded bird's chest, landing a solid blow. Although the avian creature is bleeding profusely, it falls short of succumbing to its wounds. Nonetheless, something has clearly changed in its demeanor. (Eblis#1 takes 5 piercing damage.)
Injured and severely outnumbered, the two remaining birds caw at each other and plan their retreat. The one who is airborne flies away as fast as it can, moving some 80 or 90 feet in the northeast direction (its hard to measure with precision from the ground). The one who is grounded flaps its wings wildly in an attempt to temporarily confuse the nearby humanoids, before taking it to the air and flying away in the same direction, albeit not as quickly.
@Rhogal:
You note that the birds are flying toward the shabby shack you spotted in the distance before this encounter evolved into a fight.

WE ARE NOW OUT OF INITIATIVE. YOU MAY DO AS YOU WILL.

Not exactly a chase, but in the excitement of the fight Kairus would shoot again:
Attack: 19 Damage: 7 (disadvantage in case the shining bird is farther than 80ft)
"Well, we got our dinner, I suppose. But with those feathery bandits, I would check their nest - who knows, they could keep some other travellers there as future food."Right now Kairus was ready to suspect the worst, the birds proved to be quite the menace. He left the fog in place for now and claimed up at the closest ledge to watch the two remaining enemies retreating.
Lowering his shield Krodhen inspects himself for any damage and with a satisfied smirk he says "Anyone seriously hurt? Before we give chase, consider first whether those three are all that remain..?"
OOC: Does the shack seem big enough to be a nest for more than just the five we encountered? Perception 9 -- anyone else care to take a look as well?

Krodhen implies he might be interested in chasing the birds after the group is given a chance to catch their breath. With his crossbow, Kairus punctuates the possibility that a chase might not be needed at all. He shoots another bolt, which flies through the air in a beautiful arc and plunges into the shining bird's back. The group can hear a far away cry of pain before the fleeing creature drops from the air. (Eblis#5 takes 5 piercing damage and is DEFEATED.)
One bird is still fleeing. Hun thinks of striking it down but his equipment disagrees with his will. The kobold doesn't seem too enticed by the possibility of a chase, though, given that he promptly sits on the ground and whips out his tinkering tools to mess with his shield.
