"Not the big fan of dead bodies. Do not expect to find anything interesting either - really, I think I remember now. A worthless sad bunch, those who sail on this ship. The first part of the name would fit better for what they were."Kairus looked into the darkness, grimaced and added. "And yet we are here. So, do "intrepid band of adventurers" want to learn what is down there? My curiosity is probably strong enough for such sacrifice. Can dive and check."He sneezed from the smell. "But then I go for a swim to clean up."
Before diving, though, he tried to think if the smell reminds him of anything else but the simple dead bodies. After all, the ship was here for a long time. Anything dead had to decompose already or be eaten by sea creatures. Yet, some creatures do have a habit to expel foul smells to warn off predators or attracting specific prey. That could be the case.
"There's gotta be something around here somewhere..." Rhogal says as he takes out a small puffball and gives it a squeeze, perhaps the spores could find some hidden compartments via small cracks.

Hun still seems a fair bit out of it by the time he returns to the others. Even the fetid smell, assuming it even registered in the first place, doesn't seem to bother him enough to react to, let alone pull him out of reverie, muttering things underbreath.
"Mn... Beh! Guess I can ask 'er later." Hun said, this time at an intelligible tone. "Oof! Gond help me, what is that? That smells worse then stinky Pete's farts after night on the town." The Kobold finally comments, pinching his nose tight. Assuming at that point someone fills him in on what's been done so far, he grimaces and says, "Well, if there's gonna be any swimming done, now might be the best time Don't know much of anything about the creature that Tortle Lass mentioned. But I wouldn't be surprised if its mroe or less sleeping right now, making now the best chance to go having a looky-loo in the waters for just a bit. But before Young Blue here goes moistening his gills, do we got any volunteers to go with him?"He asked, looking to the others. "Only need one. Anyone? Well! Good luck, ya little barracuda. You see any trouble and I mean ANY trouble, ya come right back here immediately, aight?" Hun carries on saying, barely waiting any time at all for others to so much as raise a hand.
"In the meantime, uh... guess some of ya keep a look out for the source of that smell, 'n the rest just.. keep a look out or whatever."Hun suggests, but doesn't even bother to see if any might follow it before doing his own rooting around of the Old Dirty Bastard, namely searching for places that perhaps a smaller body creature like himself might slip into that the others couldn't, and thus miss out on something of value or interest.

@Yulmiath: You approach the desk certain that it must house a drawer somewhere. You are disappointed by the realization that there isn't one. Well, the slot where a central drawer would slide into is there, but there is no drawer. Perhaps a tortle failed to move the desk and made a treasure out of the drawer instead.
@Kairus: Your best guess on the smell is polluted, stale, non-flowing body of water. It strikes you as a bit strange, since this body of water is certainly not stagnant... or it shouldn't be... not at a beach setting.
@Rhogal: The spores float somewhat randomly. The sloshing water in the compartment below (or would it be above since the Dirty Bastard is turned upside-down?) sends slight drafts up into the chamber you are in. These are hardly perceptible, but the spores ride the drafts nonetheless. They don't seem to float accusingly in any specific direction.
@Hun: When you get to the point where you are ready to wander off a bit to investigate the second wreck, the first thing you notice is that it has been less thoroughly plundered than the first, although it is still quite empty. Like the others, you notice the barrels and pieces of furniture left behind, although those are themselves quite empty. You also find a cluster of dead seaweed in a corner, which strikes you as a bit odd since you are in the dry portion of the wreck. Additionally, you spot scratch marks on the wooden "floor" (actual ceiling since ship is upside-down) that you think were made by dragging a heavy wooden object into the hole with the stinky water. Finally, the smell has a hint of feces stench to it, likely from some aquatic creature.
(OOC: So, is Kairus ready to go for a swim? Who is going with him?)
Silently cursing whichever Tortle got here ahead of him, Yulmiath hopes that they enjoy their drawer. Giving the desk a final glance, he mutters, "Fine, keep your secrets."
His ears prick up at the mention of Stinky Pete and he returns to the group's conversation having been overly fixated on the desk so far and tries to offer a slight defence to their former shipmate.
"To be fair to Stinky Pete, whenever he released a bottom secret he had the good graces to announce it... Almost to the point of revelling in it. Also I'm fairly sure there was a medical component to his situation but still, he loved that fermented milk something fierce. At least he never tried to brew it aboard the ship."
As Hun suggests that someone accompany Karius into the stinky, stinky water, Yulmiath looks around the group, willing someone else to step forward. Sighing, a move he instantly regrets as his nostrils are assaulted again, he realises that if anyone should do with Karius; it should be him... Provided his stipulations are followed.
"I'll go. We follow Hun's advice though, any trouble, we turn tail and swim back here. And we definitely go for a swim in the sea afterwards, no way I want to smell like this for any longer than I have to."
Following Karius into the water, Yul will flip up the hood of his cloak as he enters the water.
Kairus nodded (a bit absentmindedly) to encouragements and advice and stepped into the water, trying to slide there as silently as an octopus (18), ready to anything.
Though a belated and approving faint smile would grow on Hun's face upon reflecting on Yully's actions, it proves to also be a fleeting one in the face of the growing mystery at hand. "Wait... Poop? And that sea weed.... Then there was the markings...." Hun muttered to himself, scratching his chin as Kairus and Yulmiath began their descent into the water somewhere in the background. He then looks to the cluster of dead seaweed again, and with Yklwa in hand, dare to approach it for further inspect it at spear point. "Looks almost like a nest or b-... Oh... Wait... Ohh...."
Without missing a beat, Hun hustles back to the group, or what remained of it at that point. "Ah, frick. Dwarf! Uh, uhm... Rhogen! And Kordal too! I think this is some kind of fish creature's nesting area. Possibly fully or semi-aquatic, judging by the seaweed pile. And maybe a bit semi-intelligent too, seeing as it dragged something to the heavy to the hole. Something wooden!"
Hun start to put the pieces of evidence together, which pique Rhogal's interest. The kobold's conjecture does little to change Kairus' plan of investigating the foul water, and Yulmiath eventually volunteers to join the gilled adventurer. Krodhen stays silent and ready should his shield and blade be needed.
Kairus has no trouble entering the body of water while disturbing it minimally. Yulmiath is less graceful. Once submerged, the two adventurers find themselves swimming with ease, either due to natural abilities or because of the help of an enchanted cloak. There are many particles suspended in the water, which hurts visibility, but the two darkvision-sporting swimmers can make do. They notice that the sandy floor of this area is covered with half-eaten raw fish, seaweed, and broken shells.
As they swim a bit farther from the entrance, the duo notices a shadowy figure swimming past them, just on their peripheral field of vision. When they look around again, the figure is no longer there. The bard and the barbarian swim a bit further and notice something else. A person appears to be calmly floating vertically in the water some 35 or 40 feet ahead of them. It looks like a middle-aged human woman who could not be described as being in shape or particularly comely. It is hard to tell if she is still alive from this distance, but there doesn't seem to be any sign of decomposition on the part of her skin that is visible. She is wearing a common peasant dress, no shoes, and a sash. Her eyes are closed and her hair and limbs are floating in an outward direction from her center mass, as expected in this underwater setting. A golden medallion hangs from her neck. Yulmiath and Kairus are too far to discern its details, but there is a certain glint to it that hints at the presence of precious stones.
"Wait!"Kairus touched Yulmiath's shoulder and said his warning with a bit exaggerated articulation to make the sound more clear. Aquan did not need such precaution but Common was less suitable for underwater communication. The young man stopped 30ft away from the woman and almost sang a few words gesturing towards her. The water near the woman twisted slightly, forming a shape resembling transparent humanoid hand wich touched the medallion, trying to lift it up.
Content to let Karius take the lead on his home turf, or should it be surf? Yul treads water, completing a slow turn in place, watching for a better sight of whatever else is down here with them.
Hun grudgingly nods, but would try to keep alert and be ready to pull the lever of chilly death for the first creature to surface that wasn't an ally. For any does, they would soon RUE the day they dared to surface in his prison, and threaten the lives of his minions/ his sons his helpful associates.
(In short, if possible, Hun will be standing near the edge of the break so he has at least some view of the area below)

Hun approaches the opening his compatriots went into and stays at the ready with his weapon. Krodhen does the same but, soon, the duo realizes that those who went for a swim must have swam at an angle and somewhat far from the opening. The kobold and the half-orc cannot see the triton and the dragonborn.
Down below, Kairus asks for a chance to deal with the situation cautiously, and Yulmiath sees no issue with it. The dragonborn keeps an eye out for whatever else might be down here but sees no threat at this very moment.
The bard begins to form his mage hand as he gets closer to the floating woman. Despite his attempt at caution, as soon as he is within range to "reach" for her medallion, the woman's eyelids quickly recede and her visage shifts. Her dress becomes yellowed and tattered. Her skin turns a shade of pallid green and sprouts slimy scales. Her hair clumps together into many strands which resemble sea weed. Her body becomes thinner to the point of emaciation. Her face shrinks and twists, reforming into one of the ugliest visages Kairus and Yulmiath have ever seen. In fact, Kairus may be somewhat taken aback by the sudden and aggressive transformation.
-> Kairus' WIS saving throw {DC 11}: 6
"Come to ol' Myldryd Urchinspine, handsome one." A horrific voice travels through the water. "She'll gobble you UP!"
Kairus ends up feeling more disgust than fear. Although surprising, the sudden transformation failed to scare the bard.

"I don't think so?" Kairus was opened minded enough but the creature in front of him was less attractive than a barnacle-covered sea cucumber. In fact, the disgust was so strong, the triton whispered something that sounded like a curse in Aquan (11 damage, Wis save 15 for half and no run). He darted back (out of the water if it's possible) but no sooner than encouraging Yulmiath to do what they planned. "You said out? Race you to the surface!" (Bardic inspiration on Yulmiath!)
Kairus' refusal of the hag's invite is laced with magic and accompanied by dissonant whispers. The enemy is bothered by them, but not as much as the bard had hoped. (Myldryd Urchinspine takes 5 psychic damage.)
The triton then encourages Yulmiath to retreat (Bardic Inspiration) and swims toward the entrance. He is now 15ft away from it.
-> Hun and Krodhen can roll initiative but only come "online" in the second round. Rhogal is still unaware of the situation.
Before Yulmiath can react, two giant crabs make their way out of their buried hiding spot and swim toward him. They see the dragonborn as a opportunistic snack:
The surprising attack fares poorly for the barbarian. One of the pincers digs especially deep, perhaps even reaching his shin bone. (Yulmiath takes 12 bludgeoning damage.)
Myldryd cackles underwater and moves toward the trapped morsel {AL-74}. She slashes at the dragonborn: "Not as handsome as the triton, but you'll do just FINE!"
She slashes at the dragonborn's gut, opening it up. (Yulmiath takes 7 slashing damage.)
(Yulmiath is up next. He needs to start his turn by rolling a WIS saving throws {DC 11} against becoming frightened. Alternatively, he can actively avert his gaze from the hag. If he does so, there is no need for the beginning-of-turn save, but he gains disadvantage on all attacks against the hag until his next turn.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
