Eeyal seems a bit surprised upon hearing from both Yulmiath and Kairus about a strange magical woman leaving in one of the wrecks. She doesn't seem to realize that the triton has left any details about putting such a threat to the sword off his tale, but the dragonborn's warning sort of reveals the outcome of the encounter nonetheless. "I never heard of such a threat. She must have moved in recently. Did you collect whatever treasures she scoured from other wrecks?"
When asked if she has any suggestions for pastimes while the party waits on the tide, she simply says: "Well, why not put the frightening dangerous water woman to rest once and for all. By the sounds of it, you'd be doing Ahoyhoy quite the favor by eliminating the threat." She points at Kairus, as to indicate that she took his fantastical retelling of the story to be quite impressive when it came to describing the woman as being quite the danger.
A couple hours pass while the group rests and Hun prepares the gumbo on his multitasking shield. The period of respite is not disturbed and the meal is quite enjoyable. There is simply so much crab meat in the gumbo. What a treat!
(OOC: Let me know if any of you are intrigued by Eeyal's suggestions. We can then decide how the rest of this 6-hour short rest goes.)
(Bad wording on my part. By "did not include discussion of finishing the hag off and search for her treasure, that she collected from the ships around, but had the main pieces in place." I meant the fight was described, as well as the truce. But Hun's unsatisfaction with leaving treasure behind and soft offer to kill the thing off after we already got medallion - that was left out.)
"It would be a murder at this stage. The thing bought her life with that magical trinket," Kairus pointed at the medallion, "and some information about ships around. We accepted and returning to kill it now would mean breaking the word too. She is dangerous, true, but now you - Ahoyhoy - is aware of the danger, while any unwelcomed visitor - whether a monster or a humanoid - is not. Might be useful."
Kairus smiled to Eeyal. "And besides, how else would you get such crabs for breakfast?"
"By killing that ugly arse sea witch anyhow, and her other little pet crab too."Hun deadpans, then looks up to Kairus having only just finally reached a point in the cooking process as to leave things to cook. "And you have very strange understanding of murder, as well as how little 'awareness' will matter to the younglings that find themselves here. For as I understand it, most Tortles that find there way here are already aware of that other monster. Which, while cunning perhaps in its own right, is at least not liable to manipulate you if it should find reason to, or... seek vengeance for past slights." He adds plainly.
"But, a deal is a deal. For now. I, for one, aren't of mind to betray it, much as I'd disagreed with it. And should I live to be proven right as well about misgivings about that creature, let it be an important life lesson for young blue here." He says, waving his makeshift ladle at Kairus, before then focusing on adding a few "seasons" to help purify(ritual) the gumbo.
When reminded again about the medallion, Hun looks surprised as if only just realizing Yulmiath had the thing. "Right, I forgot about that. Uh... shoot." He looks back and forth between the gumbo and the others before finally settling on Rhogal. "You got it?"
Eeyal watches as Kairus' and Hun's responses to her suggestion differ quite a bit. It doesn't look like the kobold is planning on insisting on his stance, though, so Eeyal responds with a sigh: "Well, I'll be sure to mention it to the other tortles in Ahoyhoy. As the little one mentioned, some tortles are liable to avoid the area while others will see it as a challenge. Don't blame yourselves for our tribe's sense of adventure though. Those entering adulthood like to take risks, and that need for a thrill tends to persist into more advanced ages too. That's their... our decision.'" She then looks again at the makeshift smokehouse and adds: "Besides, you can always tend to your avian jerky with the extra hours you have at hand."
Yulmiath brings out the amulet once more, which diverts Hun's attention. The artificer recognizes his attention is suddenly split and looks at Rhogal aiming to be relieved of one task. Misinterpreting which one (I think), Rhogal grabs the skull amulet and taps into the wisps of wind for additional insight, but fails to take note of any specific power associated with the trinket. Nonetheless, the dwarf certainly feels the amulet's magical nature and judges that he could decipher its secret if allowed to study it closely for the next hour or so.
With the gumbo fully purified, it is now just a matter of time before it is ready for consumption.
(OOC: Should we fast-forward to the end of the short rest?)
Philosophical debates on the definition of murder and taking care of the jerky helped to pass the time until the gumbo was fully ready, and the cook got his well deserved appreciation.
(And as nice as it is to play it out, I am for fast-forwarding)
Yul is all too happy to pass the medallion of to Rhogal. "Give a bit of thought to it if you're happy to. Be good to know how much that crone values her own hide at."
If prompted, Yul might be persuaded to take a turn watching gumbo, but would need precise instructions. Otherwise, he'll kick back and crack wise... At least until this clothes might be drier, in which case, time to dress.
OOC: Krodhen takes his two HD during short rest to top up HP.
And belatedly, Krodhen nods along to the conversation and suggestion that they should have finished the creature off, with only a sideways glance at Kairus giving away his feelings on the topic. "I hope the chain is worth the bargain too...but perhaps the loss of it will weaken the hag" as he steps up to the "pot" looking for a serve of the crab "Well, is it ready yet?"

"As far as we know we got fleeced an' it sparkles when ya say 'bugger me.' But, it might take more than a minute ta reckon ta know fer sure..." Rhogal updates Yul.
He will spend the time to get familiar with the amulet's true nature.
The group continues to discuss the merits of keeping their word, even if their word was given to a dangerous, humanoid-eating sea creature. Krodhen and the others keep poking Hun about the gumbo, which is not allowed to be touched until it is completely ready. Eventually, it is, and the party enjoys yet another wilderness-provided banquet.
Rhogal excuses himself to continue examining the medallion. Soon, the dwarf learns of its ability to bestow the wearer with the power to detect thoughts, although not indefinitely. This is a medallion of thoughts (see spoiler below).
After much rest, food, and conversation, the sun reaches its zenith and the tides begin to recede once more. No terrible monster made its presence obviously known while the tide was elevated, but neither did the adventurers pay particular attention to the seas while resting, so who knows... Regardless, the group is faced with the choice of the next wreck to explore (explored wrecks are stricken-through):
Dawn Avenger: This is the closest wreck to the beach. Its aft section was dragged out to sea by the current and is lost, but its forward section is lodged between rocks, canted to one side with its broken mast pointing south. The wreckage is entirely visible at low tide (i.e. the front section.)
Dirty Bastard: It sits upside down on a rock bed, its masts and upper deck sheared off, its exposed belly crusted with barnacles and snails. At low tide, the hull is fully above the water. A gash on its starboard side makes an adequate doorway.
Carcerius: Two sections of this ship are half-exposed above water at low tide, but you gather a missing third section could also be somewhere nearby.
Unknown Ship: This ship's bowsprit and half of the figurehead are visible. At this distance, it is hard to tell what the figurehead is shaped like. Part of the ship’s aft castle lies nearby, on its side and lodged amid the rocks. That said, only a small, sun-bleached corner of the aft castle is visible.
Virago: The burnt nub that was once the mast is visible, as is the scorched top deck. Nothing else seems to be above water. Myldred claims it is completely empty.
Sea Mare: The farthest wreck. At low tide, only the battered remains of the crow’s nest can be seen above the water.
"Soooo..., are we checking how honest was the scary woman or simply begin with the closest wreck? That nameless one seems like a good start."To be completely honest, the full stomach and hot sun in zenith demanded a good long siesta. But the call of the sea and the thrill of the treasure hunt were still here too and Kairus tried to "wash off" the sleepy feeling with the wave of a bit exaggerated enthusiasm.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I doubt heading straight back and kicking her door back down might not be the smartest move. We'd need a plan for that I think. But if we're heading back down there, heading to the unknown ship is as good a place as any to start again. There, uh, any gumbo going spare?"
Yulmiath's response comes between overly large mouthfuls of crab gumbo eaten with vigour and gusto. Finally wiping his face but only after having licked his bowl and contentedly belched, will he consider making the descent back down to the beach.
Having had his fill of crab, Krodhen leans back against and takes in the sea and sky "I could spend a few more hours just taking in the sight and serenity, but if we must explore, the unknown wreck is as good as any. Do we take the precaution of roping loosely together this time?"

It's only just for a moment, as he's quick to screw his face into a more neutral one at the first signs of attention. "Hmn. Hm? Uh... Well, at the rate we've gone through it.." He looks into the makeshift Wok and snorts. "Not really. But we can always fix that later." He gives Yulmiath a wink. If Kairus looks upset at all, he adds a quick, "I'm kidding. I'm kidding... well.. It's not as if there aren't more crabs down there I bet. But we'll see!"
Regardless of any reactions, all he asks is but a few minutes to get his shield back into working order. He'd have to see about properly cleaning it once they were closer to the waters and intentionally far from their intended destination as well. Which as far as he was concern, the unnamed ship was fine with him. "Well, my rope is kind being used to better secure our way down, and don't think we got much more between us anyway, young green blood. BUT! If we happen to come across some decent rope in the wreckage, well... will see then."He offers while following after Yullmiath, hopeful the dragonborn might catch him if he falls.
(OOC: This being the group's third interaction with the same climb, I'm willing to say you are all getting the hang of it. With the sun high in the sky and their bellies full, the group decides it is time for them to return to the waters. Kairus suggests the still unnamed ship as their next stop, which prompts Eeyal to share what she knows: "Unnamed? You mean that one with figurehead visible? Did I not mention its name earlier... Silly me! That's the ***** Queen! A fancy name, that one."
Yulmiath gets the last bits of gumbo, in the eating of which Eeyal gladly partook, and begins to descend the rope that had been previously reinforced by Hun. Krodhen suggests that the group use some type of tether to avoid getting separated as before, which earns Rhogal's approval. Hun seems less excited about it. Eeyal wishes you all luck and claims she'll stay back to watch the smokehouse. The group then descends the cliff successfully, although it looks like Hun is about to tumble at one point.
The adventurers do not waste time at the beach, entering the water both as to get another quick wash and to advance toward their selected ship. At low tide, its bowsprit and half of the figurehead are visible, as is a small, sun-bleached corner of the aft castle. As the group approaches the ***** Queen, they can finally tell in more detail what the figure head was supposed to represent. It is carved in the likeness of a screaming woman with long strands of kelp for hair and waves breaking around her. Part of the ship’s aft castle lies nearby, on its side and lodged amid underwater rocks. Pleasantly, the water is a bit warmer now than it was in the early morning.
Much of the ship is destroyed. As they look at its remains, they arrive at two conclusions: First, only a small portion of the aft castle seems to be intact enough to warrant any "indoor" exploration. Second, something glints in the water, something that is hooked on a section of splintered railing still attached to the bowsprit. It is hard to miss the glinting from this close at this time of the day (Nice pick of time to visit this particular wreck!)
