You are able to squat low as you sink and catch yourself before falling any further! Lifting up some of the branches, you see they have been latticed together with some vine. Underneath you see some sharpened sticks jutting up at you.
Following the goblins' trail further, you note the lack of wildlife sounds. After about 1.5 hours, you exit the forested area and come across a small clearing. You would gauge that you've traveled about 5 miles (or about 8km) from where you were ambushed. You note a stream to your right - it's not a torrential river or anything, but's got some decent flow to it. While you all have exited the forest, the foliage continues across the stream to the other side. The dense, lush foliage gives way to heavy thorns, briars, and thickets that cover that side of the stream. Up ahead, your eyes follow the stream to a large hill that rises up steadily. The stream disappears into a large cave in the hillside. Theshallow stream flows out of the cave mouth, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right-hand side of the stream.
“We should be clear of traps on the forest floor for now” Mau stands up from his crouching position dusting off any leaves or dirt after the close encounter with the pit trap. “it looks like there is an opening in the thickets next to the cave mouth”. Mau follows the stream looking for a narrow point that would allow the party to cross.
"Okay Mau, be careful now, goblin's can be sneaky bastards, I'll try to cover you." Wolfe responds, following cautiously at some distance. Stealth: 6 Perception: 13

Edryd copies the movements of his companions trying to remains as quiet as possible however his piecemeal chainmail makes this difficult. He keeps his keen night eyes focused on the rear and flanks hoping the others watch for danger in front.

Mau leads the way up the stream a little further, with the rest of you following behind. Krull follows closely but cannot match the Tabaxi's gift for stealthy movement, and stumbles and breaks some small twigs under his giant feet. Wolfe and Edryd are not much better at being quiet, Edryd's armor clinking as he moves.
On the east side of the stream flowing from the cave mouth, you can make out a small area in the briar thickets that seems to have been hollowed out, allowing for a small clearing. It would be a great lookout point or a guard station. Wooden planks flatten out the briars and provide room for guards to lie hidden and watch the area-including a pair of goblins lurking there right now!
The goblins hear you moving around on the other side of the stream. Luckily, you can see them as well and so are not surprised.
[The briars are difficult terrain and provide half-cover. No damage is taken by going through them however, it's just really annoying].

Rabbit shakes her head as she followed, keeping her place behind Wolfe. She mutters briefly, "No plan. Sure. Great." After that she tries to keep her movements quiet and her eyes open for dangers. (Stealth: 19; since the action has moved on I'll just skip Perception.)

"Sentries in the briars."Wolfe hisses and utters a few agelical words with a quick gesture and a flame-like radiance descends on Goblin 1. Sacred Flame Dex save 13 or Radiant: 5 Goblin gains no benefit from cover for this saving throw. Wolfe then rushes to take cover in the briars (F3) tugging for Rabbit to follow. "Take cover Rabbit!"

Rabbit grumbles a bit at being pulled, but follows Wolfe in taking cover. (F2 if she can still see the goblins.) Trying to keep a bit behind Wolfe, she casts Chill Touch at Goblin 2, creating a ghostly skeletal hand.
G2 runs north 15 feet, see the Tabaxi out in the open, and will fire at Mau. Afterwards, it will run back 15 feet and try to hide in the brush somewhere (bonus action hide). Attack:16Damage:3. Stealth (hide) - 22.
Rabbit is up! ....G2 disappears from your vision through the briars. Mau is able to twist out of the way of the arrow. The goblin sees Wolfe's divine fire rocket down at it, and dodges out of the way! (22, 7)
***Edit - check that, goblin cannot hide here, it's only half-cover** no hide.

(As Rabbit has already gone)
Mau twists past the arrow fired his way and hunkers down snarling not pleased he has been caught out in the open like this again, he pounces forward once (activating Feline Agility) and bounds across the stream into the goblin area, unable to determine which one fired at him he lunges at G1 (moving to E9) with his rapier. (Attack: 18 Damage: 10)
G2 winces and screams as Rabbit's conjured skeletal hand latches on to its leg. Mau, your lunge is well-placed, piercing the goblin through the mid-section - it does down, leaking blood onto the matted grass. It's dead!

Edryd walks into the stream and begins wading across into the brambles at a steady stalking pace. His shield raised pointing at G1 he rings his little bell softly. I think I can get to B6.
