It is that time of year, everyone: Time to rate the campaign!
1. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being atrocious, rank how much fun it has been for you so far. Don't be overly honest. ;) 2. Tell me what you like about the campaign so far, so that I can include more of the sort. 3. Tell me what you dislike about the campaign so far, so that I can fix it.
Don't feel pressured to do this. If the time is inconvenient, forget it.
So far, a 5. Over a month and I didn't get to fight yet! Which would be what I dislike. I like Dwinkle, a colorful NPC in every sense of the word. And that you gave players the opportunity to shape some of the town.
There are some problems with pbp that do not exist in RL roleplaying. For example people "over-posting" other players or what is worse "over-posting" The DM for example:
- I go to place A. I take a look at things in A (i will check perception: 6). I do not see antyhing interesting so i go to B....
Big number of actions without waiting for DM input.
As for roleplaying in this adventure, i have to say that at the begining I was confused what to do. We had not real reason to join other players and our characters did not have any clear goal.
But despite the issues i like playing my Firbolg Monk and i am happy each time d&d beyond pops "new post in Dagon" ;)
I think you are doing a great job. DMing is never a simple task, and play by post presents a whole new set of problems to overcome. There have been hiccups sure, but you have kept the game moving despite that.
1 - I think on a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 7. Not epic, but there is potential.
2 - I like that you have made your own world rather than using a premade one. I know how much work goes into that from personal experience, my home brew world is just a rip off of Gloriana from the Quest for Glory games peppered with Evil Dead, Star Trek, Robin Hood, and South Park references and it is still a lot of work to put it all together, let alone make all my players happy at the same time.
3 - You have made the world, the map, the NPCs, I am sure you have some lore but we have learned very little of that. I would be interested in learning what sort of factions exist, who is the Monarch? are they well liked? Have there been any recent wars? stuff like that.
GRIS SMAAASH!
OK then. Its settled.

I take that to mean Gris goes first. That's ok with me.
That was some strike with the pebble, Kolbitr.

some mean pebbles indeed!
I was not really sure I wanted to take the magic stone cantrip at first. I think I will keep it for awhile. Natural 20s are always nice as well.
Sometimes the less optimal spells and builds create the best lore ;)

The start was messy and chaotic. Now it is much better. I think that dming towns an cities in pbp is extra hard (we players do not make it easier).
I was hoping that we will have more options in Byting (maybe small side quests) to learn the lore of the town and earn some exp.

Seriously meta gaming, here, but in my defense, I had plenty of side-quests going. You missed them all! :D No problem though.

I know we missed them;)

I understand. Should have thought it out a little more. There is always a next time. :)

Seconding the interest in lore stuff.
WE WILL BE RICH! OR CURSED! OR BOTH!
Maybe we'll find Tuilo and Miguel there.
Or Kuzco and Pacha
I just hope there are no conquistadors, but at least there is no reason to expect the Spanish inquisition.
True. There is no reason to expect inquisition
