Maggwyn and Kass - The two of you slip through the main entryway, to the other side of the hall. The door there is unlocked and you hear nothing behind it. Cracking it open, you see a living room with a couch and a fireplace, among other things.
Jasper - You nimbly dodge out of the way of the armor’s attacks. You land near the door just as it opens enough to let you slip inside.
Jasper and Crannoc - The two of you have a moment to catch your breath as you are now both in this room. There was an interior locking mechanism that didn’t require a key that Crannoc was able to quickly open as he was conjuring the image of a cat elsewhere.
Miesha - There is some light conversation between the people in the tour before Sir Brodstin and another figure, a half-elf, excuse themselves from it briefly as they enter through the gate and stride towards the house. The tour begins to move on, as these two will catch up when they’re ready.
Once both he and Jasper are in the office, Crannoc (if he has not done so already), casts, in order:
- The Minor Illusion of the brief sound of a large housecat scampering down the stairs below the hallway 2 doors away, to try to explain away any ruckus that may have been audible before. Intended to distract or appease whoever was knocking on the door to the room with the constructs. - The Minor Illusion of the view an onlooker from below would expect to see of the exterior window to the room they are currently in, so that no one can easily spot Crannoc and Jasper from the outside as they search the room. This one lasts a minute. - Temuth's Guidance on Jasper to aid his search. (Add 1d4 to next skill check.)
Wordlessly, he points the tabaxi at the items he's seen in the office. The desk, the fine mace mounted above the bed, the book shelves (and coffee table, rug, chair etc.), trusting Jasper to have a better idea of what in Temuth's wide world they are looking for.
Once done with all that, from behind the safety of his Minor Illusion, Crannoc risks a peek out the exterior window.
“Oi! You two!” Miesha shouts towards the two heading towards the building. “Do you have any authority around this place? You the two who should be holding this one responsible?”
Miesha is loud and trying to make a scene that can’t be ignored. She’s not sure how much time has gone by, she’s actually hoping everyone is out by now, but having seen no indication of that she’s determined to keep her distraction going.
As Maggwyn stands in the middle of the apparent living room, she hears Miesha getting louder and knows they have run out of time. Seeing there is no paperwork here either, she heads back where she came from, checks out the window again, not seeing Jasper or Crannoc, she heads up the stairs to try and help or get them out of the house.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Once inside the office Jasper immediately tries to lock the door again, gives Crannoc a silent nod, and begins his search for the required paperwork or forgery supplies.
Jasper and Crannoc - Having identified some areas of note, the two of you scan the room for items of import. You note the mace, the desk, and the book shelves as being the most likely to carry something incriminating in any way. Going to the two that require investigation, you find a few notable books on the bookshelves and a few documents in the desk. The books are a journal of an unidentified military general and a book on conjuration magic, among others. The desk has a number of drawers that mostly have writing utensils and basic documents for a noble. There is one locked drawer and a single sheet of parchment on the desk. It has some writing on it, but the writing is in a language that neither of you understand.
Maggwyn and Kass - You climb the stairs and are currently out of view of anyone on the top floor, but you hear a house cat scampering down stairs beside you. You see a guard in the hallway looking around curiously. The door on the far right is ajar. The guard looks around and hears noise in the room on the right that is closest to the stairs. He thinks for a moment, then subtly walks to the door and takes out a key, sliding it into the lock and slipping inside the room. No sooner than that happens do you hear a thud as blood starts to trickle under the door. You hear the front door open on the floor below you and someone enters, though they shouldn't be able to see you unless they start climbing the stairs.
Miesha - The tour has progressed a slight distance away as the dwarf turns to you skeptically. He gestures that the half-elf should go inside as he speaks. "I don't know exactly who you are or why you're on my property, but I don't have time to speak to you today. I have business dealings to attend to. If your grievance is really so major then you can come back tomorrow. Otherwise, I think you best be leaving. Soon." He turns and walks after the half-elf and towards his house.
Crannoc switches Temuth'sGuidance back to Jasper, pointing at the locked desk drawer in case the cat-man wants to try to bypass the lock. Or if he wants to make a copy of the writing on the parchment in the strange language.
Having thought of it before, he begins casting Message a couple times back in the general direction he thinks Maggwyn and Kass are.
"Searching owner's office or bedroom. Planning to exit window to outside. Careful, guard quarters upstairs and animated armor behind locked door. Guards have not seen us directly, though they may have heard us. Armor attacked us but we eventually bypassed using teleportation."
If there is time, Crannoc sends the same Message to roughly where he thinks Miesha might be outside as well.
(For Message to work, Crannoc has to be able to point at the target, so it may not work. If it does, target can briefly reply telepathically.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Jasper shoves the two notable books, the paper with the strange language and any of the more mundane documents that could be this home owner's handwriting into his bag. He then moves to try to unlock the door without taking more than a quick glance for the same rune or other traps as he's already seen.
“YOU. WILL NOT. IGNORE ME!” Miesha yells out with all the pent up fury and indignation she can muster. And there is a lot to muster, having lived all her life amongst men who assumed they were better and stronger and more competent just because they were men.,
Miesha strides towards the haughty dwarf with purpose and intention in every step. “You claim you are master of this house? Then you are responsible for the indignities and insults laid upon me, and All women, by this one there!” she calls out, pointing momentarily back to the head guard she had been arguing with. As Miesha stride forward, being sure to get within thirty feet of the dwarf, she once again casts Compelled Duel on the compact homeowner. (DC 14 Wis save, if fail then disadvantage on attacks against any but me and must make save again to move out of 30’ of me.)
“Those you employ, and you by allowing such, cannot mistreat women and expect to go on with your daily lives as if nothing has happened,” Miesha continues.
“Before you enter that house!” She calls out at the top of her lungs in warning to the others, “you will deal with me and remedy the situation!”
Maggwyn hears Miesha outside and the panic starts rising, she thought they had the time of the entire tour of the city! As Kass heads off to the door with the blood, Maggwyn goes over to the door that is slightly ajar and peaks inside.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kass - You open the door after the guard and the body slumps at your feet. Standing above it is a tall suit of armor flanked by two shorter ones. They look up to you and the tallest suit takes a step towards you.
Maggwyn - You peak through the cracked door, and see a window on the opposite side, but between the door and the window is a tall object draped in a tarp.
Crannoc and Jasper - As Crannoc sends Messages in attempts to contact the others, he reaches both Miesha and Kass with the information he had. As he does this, Jasper grabs a few available items and begins to pick the lock. After the better part of a minute there is a distinct click as Jasper manages to open one of the most complex locks he has ever dealt with. The drawer slides open and in it are numerous files, a book, a wax seal, and a thick sheet of paper that has runes around its border.
Miesha - You receive Crannoc's Message as you yell towards the dwarf.
Miesha - The dwarf, Sir Brodstin, glares at you as he seems to have stopped his movement into the house entirely. "You, mam, are an interesting one. May I first ask who you are and why you are trespassing? I really won't stand for much more of this so you best be quick about it."
OOC: Hoping to understand whether Jasper would see these runes as passive just as any drawing in a regular book would be, or if they may be magical. If magical, might they be benign in their current form like a spell book or scroll or more like a trap that he shouldn't touch? Happy to roll Arcana if the DM sees fit in the case that it isn't obvious to Jasper. Thanks!
"Sir, thank you for giving me a few minutes," Miesha says. "As I have been telling your guards here, I am Sansa Stark. Of the Winterfell Road Starks, of course. I have been here talking to your guards... And may I say the two there are absolutely lovely and efficient while being stern and strict! But this one here? When I informed the other two that I was looking for employ as a guard they directed to me... And this... This... Well, I don't even want to say what he is! He informed me that to get a position under him that I would have to take a position under him, if you understand my meaning, sir. I was appalled. Disgusted. And when I objected he tried to get me to go indoors with him, out of sight of the other guards, so he could 'discuss' the issue with me. He indeed had quite the stern and violent glimmer in his eye as he said it."
"He insisted many have done it before, that it is a common tryout to get a job in Sir Brodstin's employ... Is this true, sir? DO you know and condone of this man's activities? Surely you must if you have allowed him to rise up so high in your employ? And if you do, and how could you not, them you have a lot to answer for, my lord! And if you do not, and how could you not, then. you do now and you have a lot to do in order to make up for the harm and the shame and the hurt done in your name!" Miesha continues on, trying to talk so quick and loud that Sir Brodstin cannot get a word in edgewise.
If/when the Elf (it was an elf with him, I believe?) tries to enter the house Miesha calls after him as well. "You! Fancy pants! Come away from that door and get over here! You are a part of this too, now! Either you know what sins have been going on in this household and you are a connected guilty party, of you SHOULD know and willful ignorance is consent! Now get your butt over here and find out just what kind of den of sin and evil you are so casually sauntering into!"
As before, Miesha's goal is to just be loud and distracting. She lays accusation upon accusation, getting louder and more distressed if and when it seems any are trying to break away from the knot of participants. Obviously her goal is just mayhem and confusion and she turns the accusations, insinuations and blatant lies around and around so that they are impossible to follow but hopefully also impossible to ignore.

Investigation: 8
Guidance: 1 (Thanks Crannoc!)
Kass follows Maggwyn, supporting her in any task she needs assistance with and keeping an eye out for trouble.
Seeing Jasper struggle a bit on his Investigation, Crannoc switches Temuth's Guidance to himself and tries.
Focusing on desk, bookshelves, but also rug, coffee table and bed, and looking at the mace itself. As if a lynx searching for a hiding snow-rabbit.
Investigation plus Guidance: 8 + 2
To the tabaxi, he whispers, "Should I attempt to telepathically Message the others since our search seems to be taking long?"
