The thought, or more like a command, was clear in Aalsan's mind as he drew his shortsword and rushed towards the enemy (Creature A) Kass and the other's had pretty much incapacitated. He attempted a quick stab similar to the attack occurred by the one known as Jasper.
The seedling circles Crannoc thrice more, gaining angular momentum. In Sylvan:
In the end we all return to Temuth. Our bones, our muscles, our hearts and brains, our skin. It all returns as nutrient so that plants and fungi and beasts can be born anew and grow, by the grace of Temuth. But for some, the return is quicker than others. Especially for those that defile a garden.
The spectral pine needle spins and thrusts once more at the remaining hyena-faced enemy who looks the healthiest (Bonus Action: attack with existing Spiritual Weapon, force damage).
Crannoc then pivots and lashes out once more with verdant, thorny vines from his free hand at any remaining foe, the most injured one if a choice (Action: Thorn Whip, magical piercing damage), drawing them 10' closer on a hit.
Aalsan - You stab quickly into the one nearest to Kass, which slumps at your feet.
Crannoc - The only still standing creature turns to see the thorn careening towards it, and is promptly shanked by it.
The six of you have a chance to catch your breath as you stand in this destroyed garden with five bodies. The keep itself looks undamaged, with the exception of its wooden door, which is closed but appears to have, at one point, been forced open.
Aalsan - Out of the corner of your eye you see one of the few things in this garden that hasn't been torn up. In a far corner is a small splash of color, purple. A flower of some kind.
"I do hope we didn't just slaughter the house staff," Miesha says blithely as she absently looks over the creatures, assessing their weapons and armor and likelihood they possess anything worth pawing at them for.
"We all healthy? Anyone hit?" she asks after a moment, looking over the others. She pauses while looking at Maggwyn but decides she's not that badly and is capable of continuing. "All right then, rescuers... Let's get rescuing!" Miesha then moves straight for the front door.
Reholstering his sword, Aalsan temporarily broke off from the main group for a moment as the human woman - Miesha he thought he heard - ordered them forward. He took the time to quickly go inspect where he saw the flash of color.. his own curiosity, as always, getting the better of him. A flower it appeared, something he would pick and pocket while glancing around to see if there was anything else of note.
He was quick to do this though, quickly returning to enter the door along with the rest of the crew while pulling his sword out once again.
Jasper's shoulders fell into an unsatisfied slump as the others took down the last of their foes. Maggwyn knew, the tabaxi was used to working alone, or perhaps with one other. The thrill of the fight had ended so suddenly via the skill of their new allies.
Glancing around, Jasper had little interest in the hyena creatures unless they clearly held any particularly fancy bobbles. Otherwise he'd head over to inspect the robed figures for any interesting items, to get a look at their tattoos, or see if anything else of interest could be found.
The flower you spotted before is shaped like a lily, but is a shimmering purple color. As you pluck it from its stem you feel a brief pain shoot through your head.
Jasper - You investigate the robed figures, finding nothing of note. Make an Arcana check to inspect the tattoos.
The large wooden door into the keep itself has no apparent means of remaining shut, no locks or similar technology. There is no sound audible from the opposite side of the door.
Maggwyn gives a surprised look to Kass, she also is used to working alone and definitely is not used to anyone noticing her welfare. She isn't sure how she feels about it yet, but shakes her head a bit, "Thanks. I'm good."
She again takes Meisha's flank as they head for the door, when they get to it she doesn't see anything that appears to have it locked, but she quickly checks for traps.
Miesha will look around a bit, scanning for any movement or such but also eyeing the others to see if they're ready to move on. Once everyone seems to be ready, she will attempt to open the door... warily stepping inside and having a look if it is open.
Jasper - The tattoo on this figures arm appears to have some similar runes to fire magic you have seen performed in the past. There is also some scrawling in a harsh looking language, one that you do not know but that seems familiar.
Miesha - As you peer your head into the keep, you see a room, empty of people. It has doors on all walls (three doors, not including the one you came through). Scattered throughout the room is a bench, a coatrack, and a shredded rug. Above the door opposite you is a weapon rack that lacks whatever weapon it was designed for.
Maggwyn slips into the room behind Miesha, taking in all the wreckage. She checks the rug to see if she can tell what shredded it and if anything was under it. Then heads for the right door and listens to see if anything is making sounds behind it.
Crannoc's seedling skirts low to the ground. He continues murmuring in Sylvan:
As all creatures must seek plants for sustenance, or follow prey, or seek mates, so by Temuth's grace, we are granted the keenness of our senses, most of all in relation to finding those other creatures that share this natural world with us.
Reaching out to Temuth in this place of apparent desecration, trying to discern tracks or other signs of where anyone or anything that dwells here has gone recently: Survival + Guidance = 24 + 3
Maggwyn - The rug’s tearing pattern suggests that it was shredded by a series of bites. Listening closely, you can here some growls and heavy breaths being taken on the opposite side of the door on the right wall.
Crannoc - While it appears that many circles and loops were taken around this garden, you see muddy footprints leading inside. From what you can discern, a number of quadrupeds were led into the room on the right by some bipeds, then the bipeds exited that room. There are also bipedal and quadrupedal steps leading forward, through the door opposite the entrance.
"From the traces and tracks common to many of Temuth's children, I see that four-legged creatures were likely led and trapped in the room to the right by two-legged creatures, who then exited and continued forward to the door straight ahead. I am not sure if the four-legs are... pets?" (Crannoc stumbles on the word as if it is unfamiliar to him).
The seedling comes to rest on his shoulder again. "If the four-legs are indeed subservient as seems common in cities or even farms, should we find a way to block the door to the right? To prevent the four-legs from being set against us by their two-leg masters, before ourselves continuing on straight ahead to confront the two-legs? Normally I'd prefer to free the four-legs, but I cannot tell if they would be happy to be free or immediately hostile to us and our task (or both), attacking us or giving away our presence with sound."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Aalsan falls in and follows by Kass, only slightly delayed from flower picking. Had the plant lashed out at him? It was hard to discern, considering it might have been a punishment from his patrons for an indiscretion. Or even merely a reminder. It would hardly be the first time. Perhaps they disliked him being here? Or disliked the plant itself? All questions he would have to ponder later, perhaps bring up with a local druid who could identify the plant. Answers were so often rarely easy, at least not the ones worth knowing he discovered.
Wordlessly, he looks about for anything of interest or danger.
