The individual frowns bitterly, shouting something in a language best described to your ears as disgusting.
(OOC: Clarification, the gate is closed. This figure is on the wall above it.)
The figure turns once more to you, raising the sleeve on their arm to show odd tattoos that begin to glow with some magic. At this point we will enter initiative.
Maggwyn ignores the one on the wall and heads for the gate, going to open it. If it is locked, she will use her action to use her thieves tools to open it.
(since this is pbp, I'm going to assume sleight of hand? I'll roll for it, but let me know if you want something else)
Maggwyn - You hurry forward and unlock the gate. It swings open gently, though not all the way. From your position at the gate you can see the three figures, attention now turned to you. This perspective on them shows you something you hadn't noticed before, they are nearly seven feet tall and while they stand as a humanoid would, they have faces and bodies that resemble some feral animal. A hyena.
(OOC: restating the initiative order since combat has now started - Maggwyn, Jasper, Kass, Opponent A (set of two), Aalsan, Crannoc, Opponent B (set of three), Miesha)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Jasper comes up over the top of the wall where he had perched and waited and moves to take out the closest guard, potentially the speaking figure with the arm tattoo. Along the way he activates the elven bladesong magic he has been studying by tapping a claw against his sword and listening to its brief vibrating hum.
Booming Blade Attack: 16
Damage: 13 piercing and 2 thunder damage if the enemy moves
(OOC: Bladesong active for +4AC, +10 movement, etc. Shield spell at the ready to defend himself.)
(OOC: Can use bladesong movement and tabaxi movement feature to get there, hopefully, if the enemy would otherwise be out of range.)
Jasper - You stride over to the speaking individual and strike them. As the concussive energy confines them they cry out in pain, which is hardly audible over the thunderous wave that surrounds their body as they fall. The magic that was gathering at their tattoo disperses in a small blast. Their body, after an attack and two consecutive explosions, comes to rest, unmoving.
With the gate open, Kass rushes into combat, her armor's helmet closing around her automatically. "Defensive Field activated!" She barks in goblin as the arcane crystals embedded in her armor hum to life and create a faint shield around her form. Kass then runs over to the nearest clump of enemies (preferably one where there are no allies nearby), leaps into the air with her right fist pulled back, and slams it into the ground in a superhero landing. A wave of thunderous force blasts forward from the impact, engulfing her foes!
(Casting thunderwave, preferably in a position where I'm not hitting any allies. DC 14 Constitution save, any who fail take 6 thunder damage and are pushed 10 feet away. A success only takes half damage and is not moved.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kass - You charge into combat, landing your thunderous attack in the center of the hyena-creatures.
A - 19
B - 7
C - 19
One of them is thrown away from you, the other two now stand aggressively, though to one of your height they are certainly less intimidating.
The remaining, robed figure turns and scurries down the wall. Getting half way to the keep itself, which is a small distance from the inside of the wall.
Aalsan watched Kass charge with the ease of someone who has gotten use to such a sight... or at the very least, learned caution from it. Racial stereotypes aside, there was no question who was the heavy hitter of the pairing. Now that they were part of a larger group, however, it would require some adjusting to relearn his role.
Pausing as the others rushed forward, Aalsan reached into the pocket of his cloak and gripped the smooth, pale rock that served many purposes - a meditation stone, a piece of home, a focus - in connecting with his patron. Patrons. He reflectively winced and let out a sigh as he felt nor heard any mental feedback at his lapse in thought, his concentration instead moving to performing... requesting the protection of the Ones Without Lips (Mage armor, eldritch invocation).
He kept his eye on the robed figure as it scurried down the wall, deciding to let it come to him while waiting to see how the rest of the group faired.
Crannoc steps forward and murmurs in Sylvan as his sycamore seedling circles around him thrice:
"As Temuth gives predators claws and fangs, so too does he give plants their own with which to rend and tear in their own right."
A green, thorny vine whips forward from his extended hand towards the robed figure who is fleeing towards the keep, dragging them back 10' closer to Crannoc on a hit (Thorn Whip cantrip as an Action): Attack: 24 Damage: 6
And a giant spectral pine needle forms next to the robed figure's location, between them and the keep, thrusting at them as if a rapier made of force and remaining on the keep side of the figure (Spiritual Weapon spell at 2nd level as a Bonus Action): Attack: 23 Damage: 11
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Crannoc - You skewer and lacerate the robed figure, a combination of the two causing its body to go limp as it skids to a stop, face down in what you now see is a garden which has been mostly torn up.
The three hyena creatures, now enraged by the deaths of their allies look upon your group with a feral hunger. Each one draws a spear from the semblance of clothing on its back, and prepares to attack. One (Creature A) stabs at Kass, the second (Creature B) stabs at Maggwyn, and the third (Creature C) stabs at Crannoc.
As the hyena creature (B) charges Maggwyn, she lifts Blackthorn and swipes at it when it gets within her range. Unfortunately, as she does this, she leaves her side open and the creature takes full advantage of it, digging his spear in.

Rushing through the gates, Miesha quickly scans the battlefield to assess the situation, while also cursing herself for being so slow on the jump… But there is no time for recriminations, there are foes to be vanquished and glory to be won!
She runs in and attacks her first foe with her spear. (Depending who is in range, she would first rush in to stand besides the injured Maggwyn but if cannot reach her and her foe then whichever is closest.) She first slashes out with the tip of her spear, then subtly shifts stance to also club the creature with the butt of the weapon…(attack and Polearm Master allowed bonus attack…)
Maggwyn and Miesha - As the creature attacks Maggwyn, she lands a successful slash across it. After its own strike it poises for yet another. As it does so, it is struck firmly by the back of Miesha's spear, and it falls to the ground with a pained yelp.
(End of Round Summary: Both robed figures and one hyena-creature have been slain, while the other two hyena-creatures are now slightly damaged and in front of Kass and Crannoc.)
As one robed figures fell Jasper winked at the other and grinned a toothy grin. The excitement of the chase was cut short, however, when the tabaxi's new allies swiftly cut down his fleeing prey. Feeling a bit disappointed, he sighed but then set his eyes upon the nearest hyena-like creature and grinned again. With a few long, bounding strides and a tumbling leap to clear the last few feet down from the wall Jasper swiftly moved towards his next victim while drawing a dagger in his off hand along the way. With two quick slashes he hoped to bring down more prey.
Rapier: 21, 10 piercing
Dagger: 8, 2
(OOC: Bladesong active for +4AC, +10 movement, etc. Shield spell at the ready to defend himself.)
(OOC: If 50ft of movement won't get there he'll use Feline Agility to try to reach a target.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Maggwyn steps past the creature that has been slain by her and Meisha, up to the one that is facing Crannoc and using that to her advantage, tries a sneak attack against the creature using her mighty glaive.
Attack: 13 Damage: 14
Sneak attack damage if hit: 10
(ha, maybe not so mighty ;) hoping that hit... though doubting it.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The tiefling whirls her glaive around and uses her bonus action to clock the hyena creature in the chest.. (sorry forgot this, was flustered about not posting!)
Maggwyn - You slash a mere inch to the side of the creature, but when you whirl around for a second attack you strike it (Creature C) squarely in the ribs, likely breaking a few and leaving it wheezing.
Jasper - You hastily descend from the wall, moving to strike the creature nearest to Kass (Creature A). It bats aside your dagger, but doesn't have time to do the same to your rapier, which pierces into its gut.
(OOC: After a little confusion with the initiative order I will now specify whose turn it is at the end of posts. It is Kass's turn.)
Following up from the thunderwave she just released, Kass rushes the nearest enemy and throws a punch as her gauntlets resonate with concussive energy.
Kass - You slam your fist into the nearest enemy (Creature A). It stands dazed for a moment before regaining focus, but now both of the remaining creatures appear to be barely standing.
(Aalsan is up next.)
