The barmaid seems to take an interest in the group, after Bron and Vandar head upstairs she walks over to Tibern.
"So you fellows are adventurers aye? Where do you all come from? I've heard tell of folk like you, Tieflings I mean, but I aint never met one. We got some halflings and elves and dwarves, and even some gnomes around here, but no tieflings or ahhh..." She looks at Glen "Fire Folk? I don't mean to be rude you understand, but life in a little town like this just aint all that exciting, I can listen to old Daran Edermath tell stories of his adventuring days all day long. Do you know Daran, he used to be an adventurer like you folks but now he's retired and just runs an orchard here in town, it's just north of the town green......"
Tibern gets the feeling this woman would continue to talk until sunrise if she were allowed to, luckily Toblen sees that she has started rambling at Tibern and asks her help him get the kitchen cleaned up for the night.
Tibern was surprised that the woman had so openly talked with him, even as he had been about to head to his room for the night. He was about to answer her when the bartender pulled her away, shrugging helplessly as he ran a hand through the hair behind his horns. While he would not have gone into his fill life story he saw no harm in answering the question as he had long ago come to terms with his appearance. "I guess I can answer her in the morning." He says with a shrug before going to his room.
Glen looks at the woman “no, no problem at all but I’m feeling very tired and need to rest so if you’ll excuse me” glen then takes the offer on the free room and heads of to sleep.
Lothar walks in and greets the lady. "Hello, my name is Lothar. What is yours? I have come to return some goods we found clearing out some goblins nearby. I believe they are marked with the same symbol as on your sign."
"Nice to meet you Lothar, I'm Linene." The woman says, "If you have brought me some of my missing goods, then I am truly in your debt. My last two shipments never arrived." She heads outside with Lothar to inspect the goods and looks amazed when she sees the wagon. "That's and entire shipment, you say goblins had it? I would have sworn it was retaliation from those Redbrands for me refusing to sell to them. My friend I can't thank you enough, you may have saved my little shop here, and if you have removed the goblins maybe my next shipment will make it here safely."
They head back inside and Linene hands Lothar a purse containing 50 Gold. "Take this it's all I can afford to give you as a reward, but if there is anything I can do to help you in the future please don't hesitate to ask." Linene happily agrees to take the cart and oxen for the night and return them to Barthen in the morning.
Silas:
Silas heads over to Sister Garaele's house and knocks on the door, a moment later a tall elven woman, with a small bandage on her left wrist, answers the door. "Ah hello, I am Sister Garaele, to what do I owe the pleasure of a visit from a cleric of Illmater? Oh! where are my manners, please do come in, I just put on some tea would you care for some?"
"Redbrands? Who are they, and what has happened between you? Thanks for the gold, and information. Do you happen to know anything about the Rockseeker brothers? We were sent to guard Gundren's shipment when we were set upon by the goblins. Now, the dwarf is missing, and we believe he is in some place called Cragmaw's Castle."
Sister Garaele laughs a little when Silas tells her that Freda had been so concerned. "Bless her heart, that Frieda. She is a kind soul, but I fear sometimes a bit too sheltered for life out here on the edge of the wild. My wound is nothing more than cut on my arm, nothing a little rest and the healing herbs in this tea can't remedy. But there is something you could help me with. You see I hurt my arm while attempting to gather some information. There is an old ruin of a town called Conyberry about 40 miles north east of here along the Tribor trail. At the north end of the ruins there is a trail leading a few miles into Neverwinter Wood. At the end of this trail lives a Banshee by the name of Agatha, it is her I had gone to see. Unfortunately Banshees can be fickle creatures and for some reason she would not appear for me, and so I could not ask her for the information I seek. I need only to know what she knows about the location of a spell book belonging to a legendary mage named Bowgentle. Could you try to talk to Agatha for me? I can not lie to you, it is not a task without risk, Banshees can be very dangerous if angered. I have been told that the best way to get what you want out of this particular one is to appeal to her vanity, I fear that may be why she did not show herself to me."She blushes a little, as she flatters herself. She is a rather attractive women. "I have this comb I was going to offer her as a gift in exchange for the information, if you choose your words carefully and offer her the comb I am sure you can get her to answer my question. I have little of material value to offer you but if you go take these potions I have made just in case, and perhaps I can come up with a suitable reward while you are away." She offers you 3 potions of healing.
The Lionshield Coster:
Linene moves the wagon and oxen into a small stable on the side of her shop as she explains, "The Redbrands are a local gang of thugs and thieves, until a few months ago they were more pathetic than anything else, but something has changed that. All the sudden they became organized and started gaining members fast, I guess they must have started recruiting bandits from the woods and thieves from other nearby settlements cause they aint all from town. Must have gotten a new leader, one with brains. They don't like me cause I wont sell them weapons, or anything else for that matter. They wont openly attack me or my shop because I have the backing of the Lionshields, that's why I thought they were knocking off my shipments instead. but trust me they are trouble you should avoid them, and stay away from the Sleeping Giant, that's where they like to hangout and they are always there in numbers, usually crawling all over that end of town. As for the Rockseekers, I have heard a lot of rumors, something about an expedition to find Wave Echo Cave. I have not met any them, they were doing business with Barthen though. I've heard of a Cragmaw Castle, but Ive no idea where it might be. I would ask Daran Edermath, he used to do a lot of adventuring, retired now runs an orchard just north of the town green."
Tibern will go into his room and claim the top bunk, carefully stowing his pack before climbing up. Although it was not necessary he will keep his armor on as he wanted to be safe incase anything strange happened throughout the night. His hand went to the signet ring he kept around his neck, looking at hisnfamilt crest as his mind went to his mother and younger sister. He hoped they were ok and would do his best to write them a letter, not sure if it would get past his father.
At this point it has gotten very late in the night and Sister Garaele and Linene bid farewell to their visitors.
Silas and Lothar both make their ways back to the Inn. Lothar is told of the night events and is offered a free room and meal along with the rest of his party.
The rest of the night passes uneventfully, everyone gets a full long rest in. The next morning Toblen has a breakfast ready for his lodgers and is busily working away in the kitchen, there is no one else in the Inn at this time.
Tibern will make his way down to the main room of the inn to have his breakfast. He will sit at the table that he had been at the night before, taking out enough of his coin to pay for any meal that would be served to him.
Glen wakes in the morning looking around then smiling before, donning his cloths and weapons. He opens his door and heads to the main room to enjoy a breakfast before he had to meet the people from the redband. Glen notices tibern sitting waiting for food, he decides to join him. “Morning tibern, what are the plans for today?” Glen also pulls enough coin to pay for breakfast.
Vandar sleeps in a bit longer than the others, eventually waking and heading to the common room, where he joins Glen and Tibern and orders his own breakfast.
Silas will take the comb and the 3 potions of healing from the sister. After sleeping all night he will get up and join the group for breakfast. Over breakfast he mentions what the sister wanted. He would like to help the sister if they can.
Bron heads to the Lionshield Coster where he meets Linene, who greets him warmly and is happy to show him her selection. She has a variety of arms and armor, all of which are normal mundane items, at a reasonable price. "Just let me know if there is anything in particular you are looking for and I can help you find it if I have it."
Stonehill Inn:
True to his word Toblen offers the meals free, but is happy to accept payment none the less. The meal is quite good, Flapjacks with maple syrup, eggs, bacon, and spiced potatoes. "Sildar left early this morning, asked me to tell you he would be at the Townmaster's Hall most of the day and should have the money he owes you."
Tibern will finish his meal and then leave the inn to walk around the town to find a less crowded area. Once there he will use what supplies he had managed to salvage to begin writhing a letter to his mother and sister. It has been several months since the last one and he wants to let them know that he was alive and well.
After finishing his flapjacks, Vandar heads to the town master's hall, looking for Sildar to get the money they were promised so he can look into some purchases.
