Glen follows vandar to the townmasters hall to collect the money owed to him. On the way glen asks vandar “do we have any idea as to what happens when we’re done resting at this village? We can’t stay here forever”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
He would try to see if he could find a greatsword in better shape than the one that he used on the battlefield and maybe a ranged weapon that he could easily use.
Sorry for my slow rate of posts recently, just opened my shop so things have been crazy. I will be moving things along a little faster here soon I hope. In the meantime feel to keep developing your characters but remember to try to work on developing the party as well.
I am assuming that everyone besides Tibern and Bron followed Vandar to the Townmaster's hall
The townmaster’s hall has sturdy stone walls, a pitched wooden roof, and a bell tower at the back. Posted on a board next to the front door is a notice written in Common. It reads: “REWARD — Orcs near Wyvern Tor! Those of a mind to face the orc menace should inquire within.” The notice bears the town’s seal and an indecipherable signature.
Upon entering the party finds Sildar having a conversation with a well dressed fat little old man. Sildar looks a bit frustrated by the conversation, but he brightens up when he sees the adventurers enter.
"Ahh, Hello again my Friends! As promised here is the 100 gold pieces I owe you, I would give more if I had it give. I had hoped that perhaps you would be willing to help me yet again, you see I was sent here by The Lord's Alliance to act as their agent and to help Phandalin establish law and order, I am however not the first agent they sent. Iarno Albrek was sent here a few months ago and we have not heard from him. I have asked around a bit today and learned that he was last seen in the area of Tresendar Manor, that's the large ruin on the east side of town. If you can discover Iarno's fate I have the authority to reward you with money from the Lord's Alliance funds that are being sent here as we speak. Iarno is a short, dark-bearded human wizard in his thirties.”
"Also there is still the matter of Gundren and Wave Echo Cave, it is in the best intrests of Phandalin that the Rockseekers reopen that mine, it will bring great wealth and stability to the people here. I have been learning all I can about these Cragmaw goblins, apparently they have been around for some time but never posed a significant threat before. I have not been able to ascertain the location of Cragmaw Castle however. I think the best course of action would be to spend some time traveling Tribor trail, that is where the Cragmaws have been seen most often. Perhaps if you can capture one of them you can get the location out of it, goblins are not great at keeping secrets against the treat of bodily harm. I have also learned that Gundren's borthers Tharden and Nundro were camped outside of town but have not been seen in some time, I fear they too may have been targeted by the Cragmaws."
Tibern:
Tibern finds the town green a relatively quiet and peaceful spot in town this early in the morning, and would have had no trouble procuring the necessary parchment, quill, and ink with which to write a letter, from the Stonehill Inn. There is however no post in Phandalin and he will have to hire a courier to deliver the message, Barthen's Provisions or the Lionshield Coster both deal with caravans that travel between Phandalin and Neverwinter and it should be easy enough to find someone willing to deliver the message, the usual arrangement being half payment upfront and half on delivery.
Bron's Greatsword is as good as any on sale at the Lionshield Coster, though it could stand to be honed a bit. Linene has both a Heavy Crossbow and a Longbow for sale that she shows to Bron, either one costs 50 Gold, she offers to throw in 20 free arrows or bolts.
Tibern will put his letter away once he finishes with it, deciding to send it once he gets somewhere a little closer to more civilized lands. He did not want to pay for it to be delivered only for the caravan to be raided and letter lost. He will return to the inn to wait for the rest of the party to come back so they can decide what comes next. He was ok with the plan to attempt to save the dwarf if the rest wished to do the same.
Examining both the crossbow and longbow he decided to go with longbow and to pay the extra 20 gold for the arrows. Before leaving he'd ask her where he could go to have his sword sharpened.
Silas will follow Vandar to the Townmasters hall. On the walk there he will offer these healing potions to Vandar and Glen saying that he doesnt have michbuse for them. But will hold onto the comb.
When Tibern returns to the Inn Toblen tells him that his companions just left for the townmaster's hall only about ten minuets ago, and did not say when they intended to return.
Lionshield Coster:
Linene is happy to sell Bron the bow for 50 Gold and gives him the 20 arrows free. When Bron asks where to have his sword sharpened she gives him a confused look and says, "You have the look of a seasoned warrior about you and you carry a blade like that and you mean to tell me that you don't know how to put an edge on her? Or maybe you just don't have the necessary tools?" She suffles through a crate beneath a nearby shelf and produces a small kit wrapped in beaver pelt, the kit contains; one flask of oil, two whetstones one course and one fine, and a large leather strop. "It just so happens I have just the thing right here and it's yours for a mere 5 gold. If it's repair work you are looking for I would head to the town's smithy just a bit north of here, Clint is his name Clint McElroy, you tell him Linene sent you."
Bron would definitely know how to sharpen a blade with a kit like this from his time as a soldier. I am getting ideas about a homebrew feat, something along the lines of being especially skilled at sharpening and caring for your blade allowing you to sharpen your blade once every long rest which would give you a +1 to hit and damage for the next combat encounter. we can talk about that when you guys get to the point of choosing to increase attributes or select feats, there may already be some feat like this that I am not aware of, I have little experience with feats so far.
Tibern also sees the notice outside the towmaster's hall that reads: “REWARD — Orcs near Wyvern Tor! Those of a mind to face the orc menace should inquire within.” He enters the building just as Sildar finishes talking. He sees his companions, except Bron, talking to Sildar and a fat little man in expensive clothes. Tibern recognises the type of man immediately, someone rather small and petty who nonetheless believes themselves to be a very important and powerful individual, the type of person always vying to please men like Tiber's father in hopes of joining the ranks of what they see as "a better class of people".
Glen thanks sildar for the 100 and tells everyone there “I must leave, I have an appointment.” He exits the building and starts to head towards the the sleeping giant.
After hearing Sildar's missive on the missing agent, he asks "Sildar, have you heard of the Rebrands gang. I hear they are a local bunch of thugs harrassing the citizens here. Do you think they may have something to do with your colleagues absence?"
"Yes I have heard that name before." Sildar turns to the other man, "What about these Redbrands Harbin? Who are they?"
"That's Townmaster Harbin." says the stout man.
"Yes Yes, and the Redbrands?" Sildar inquires again, clearly unimpressed by the man's title.
"Oh they are nothing I assure you, just a mercenary guild, and not all that much trouble, really. However if you men are looking for work there is the matter of the orcs at Wyvern Tor. I am offering 100 Gold to the group that can remove that threat form the area.”
"Hmmm. The orc band at Wyvern Tor is indeed a problem, though I think hardly the most pressing Issue at hand. However you men are free agents and I wont presume to order you about. But in my opinion I think these Redbrands are worth looking into if you can."
Seeing the man makes Tibern roll his eyes a bit, forcing the look of annoyance from his face as he walks over to join the other party members. He wonders about the orc notice and if they would be able to stand up to the beasts. He will move closer to the others to hear what else is being sooken of. As he steps closer be will not to each of the men, his hand resting by his side.
Sildar acknowledges Tibern with a friendly wave hello, while Harbin's face shows a level of distaste, though Tibern cannot tell if it's just because of another adventurer entering, or perhaps a dislike of bards, or tieflings, or maybe a combination of all of that.
At this time it is roughly 10am. Glen has just left the townmaster's hall, Bron is either still at the Lionshield Coster or has just left, and the rest of the party is at the townmaster's hall.
Not sure how you guys are dividing up the money, its up to each character if they want to share the spoils they received when alone, but others might get curious about their cuts. I will let you guys decide how to deal with that. Sildar would probably have handed the 100 gold to Vandar as he seemed to be leading the way this morning.
Tibern ignores the look as best he can since he had been getting them all his life. He will simply nod to Silver in much the same way as the man had done for him. His tail flicks a bit as he watches any other members of his party thast have stuck around.
(I would have split up the 100g and given their shares to the people who were present when we received it, as well as the ones who have arrived since. I'll hang onto the shares for whoever hasn't arrived to give them when I see them again. Looks like just Bron so far hasn't made it there? 6 players, 100g, 16 gold each, I'll hang onto the 4 extra for now :P)

Maybe Sildar will have more work for us.
