1 hours later, Von awakens behind bars, (surprisingly for the first time). The time between when she went back to the bar and now is foggy, though judging by the pain her body is going to have vivid memories for a while. Laying back down with a groan, she awaits a long rest, whereupon she can stack Sending and deliver a heartfelt 25-word apology to Camus.
I take a long rest, both to recover from the wound I received from Von/restore my used spell slots and to give Von plenty of time to sober up.
Once I've done that, I show up to the jail to pick up Von. I stand outside her cell for a moment, arms folded. I'm not angry, just very disappointed.
"So, what have we learned today?" I ask.
(on the off chance that this campaign isn't 100% dead and buried, feel free to retcon this whole incident. However, I personally feel like it's a pretty cool moment for both Camus and Von that can contribute to an interesting dynamic in the future).
“A beer in the hand is worth 24 in a 9x5. Right, sheriff?”
The sheriff does not laugh. Von isn’t sure if the joke was that bad or this is still normal behavior for folks in this town. She addresses Camus in earnest:
”You we’re a right honorable foe when I was a fool, though from now on I hope to remain friends. No more drink for me. Just pipe weed and the occasional strange-looking forest mushroom. Any new findings on the missing family, Detective Camus?”
"I'm ready to let bygones be bygones," I say with a chuckle, taking Von's hand and giving it a firm shake. "But please, don't do that again... I can't promise that I'll be able to resuscitate you next time."

“Sounds like a plan!” Von states, grasping Camus’s bony forearm in a manly, Fast and Furious handshake. “I’m surprised Solomon didn’t take a side in our ventures. Combat seems right up his alley.”

It's not dead. Sorry. Life decided to happen.
Solomon- Are you doing anything?
The sheriff, mildly confused by this entire incident says "What are you here for? The poster? Or something else? And what was that all about- some bad blood between you two?"

With Von now sober and our differences reconciled, I turn my attention back to the sheriff.
"Yes, we came here about the poster," I say, handing it to him. "We'd like to take up the mission. As for that little incident you just witnessed... my apologies, I think my friend had a bit too much to drink and got the unfortunate idea that I was trying to one-up her... or something like that."

"Truth be told, we don't know that much. They just disappeared. Right now, we just want to figure out what happened to them. Are you up for that? This may be very dangerous, though many people like you do come here for the adventure."
