((as an assassain I get advantage against anyone that has not taken a turn in combat, and any hit against a creature that is surprised is a critical hit))
((Peren would get advantage if he attacked before the guardians. It is highly unlikely that these things will be surprised by that attack so you will not get the auto-crit. If the party wants to interact violently with the creatures, all I ask is that you let me resolve what happens with the first attack before we all pile on with other attack and damage rolls as these things may or may not have reactions to use. Also, before any of that, we should wait and see if Mirabel wants to do anything with the scrolls that were found as they might be handy.))

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
((I totally agree, was just wondering about the first attack and how that would play out, so I could plan my move when or if we attack. My guess is the ice creatures are watching us now))
"Ooh, scrolls!" Mirabel quickly thumbs through them. "If we get out of here alive these should be interesting reading." He glances at the icy sentries. "You know, I used to hang out with this Brass dragonborn; she could have melted those things with a shake of her, uh... Well, with her fire breath, probably." He shrugs. "Fire isn't my specialty, unfortunately."
He thinks a little longer. "Well, I could probably try and Shatter them..."
Peren only know a little about the arcane from being a high elf, the only spell he knows is mage hand. These scrolls seem powerful for those that know how to use them. that is if Mirabel tells us what they are
((Ok so who would have the biggest, most damaging 1st attack? I can cast guiding bolt at 2nd level for 5d6 radiant, assuming it hits w a +5 to hit, but only able to target one of them. Meta how far apart are they?))
Gavin stops thinking like a murder hobo for a moment and says out loud towards the creatures, “What is your purpose?” “May we pass?”
((Also thinking that if we decide to attack we should put the rope back in case these things start kicking our asses))
((They are fifteen feet apart, each standing in front of a rounded passageway.))
The clear beings do not seem to physically react to your words. After a small pause, they emit a series of noises that is not unlike vibrating crystal or tinkling chimes before going silent once more.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
((If someone else attacks first and is within 5 feet of the ice statues, Peren can get a sneak attack, 1d8 +3 plus 2d6,)) ((Yea I think we should tie the rope to something sturdy in the room and drop it down the tube))
((Just as a quick addendum to the normal scroll use rules, these particular scrolls are spell-list agnostic; as in, they count as being on all spell lists. This will hold true for any future scrolls you may find in this facility written in the circular constellation language.))
((Well here is my vote; attack these things. I cast my spell at one while Mirabel casts shatter at another. We spread out keeping myself and Kathra nearest to them in case they have an area of effect attack. Then we beat on them until they fall. Definately want that rope put back first. Also can Mirabel ,who probably can take the least damage, be inside the tube and cast spells from their w some level of protection?))
((I may not be able to respond for a bit so Meta, could you do my first action as noted above if group is waiting on me))
Peren secures his 50’ rope to the grate housing, and lowers it down the tube. He tells the group, “I hope we don’t need this, but if things get bad, climb down as fast as you can”
((No, without resetting the climbing kit and winching Mirabel in place, there's no good way for them to cast spells while in the tube. Also, sure, I can have you cast Guiding Bolt at level 2 if that is what you want to do should it come to that.))
I'm fine with fighting if we have to, but perhaps we could try to simply... pass? They don't seem to care that we've appeared through a grate or taken someone else's stuff...
But I'll go with the group!
In the meantime I approach one of them and raise a hand palm-up and ask if I can pass, pointing down the hall. (Let's say the right-most tunnel.)
Peren does not care if we fight or go down and try the ice tunnel below. But he thinks that the ice statues have already alerted someone that we are here. So we may not have much more time to decide

Peren is ready,
((as an assassain I get advantage against anyone that has not taken a turn in combat, and any hit against a creature that is surprised is a critical hit))
Meta - Would that apply here?
((Peren would get advantage if he attacked before the guardians. It is highly unlikely that these things will be surprised by that attack so you will not get the auto-crit. ((Absolutely, was not going to start something until getting input from everyone))
((I totally agree, was just wondering about the first attack and how that would play out, so I could plan my move when or if we attack. My guess is the ice creatures are watching us now))
((You'd be right!))

For Mirabel:
Thumbing through the scrolls, you see that they are spell scrolls for the following spells.
Peren only know a little about the arcane from being a high elf, the only spell he knows is mage hand. These scrolls seem powerful for those that know how to use them.
that is if Mirabel tells us what they are
"My axe can also shatter ice." Kathra observes. "Are we going to fight these things?"

Mirabel has lost interest in the guardians and turned back to the scrolls. His eyes widen as he reads what is written there.
"Oh my, these will be very useful."
He turns to the party. "I take it back, there's plenty of fire in these scrolls."
((Time to refresh myself on how scrolls work!))

In the meantime I approach one of them and raise a hand palm-up and ask if I can pass, pointing down the hall. (Let's say the right-most tunnel.)
Thont approaches and asks to pass by. The sentry does not move. Instead it repeats the sounds of vibrating crystal and tinkling chimes.
