“Rhudall” I say and give him a smile. “Kathra” I say next and offer my hand to her so she can shake it. Then I repeat Rhudalls name again and offer my hand to him, slowly and deliberately. I hold it there for him to shake it.
”Is it wise to take him to his friends and wake them as well before they are all stolen away by that thing?” I ask my friends
Kathra nods at Gavin's suggestion. "It can't hurt. Maybe one of his compatriots can speak our language and act as translator." She looks over at Mirabel and grins. "Feel like taking a few more punches from some grumpy walrus folk?"
Rhudall seems to relax a small amount and reaches out to shake Gavin's hand, eyes weary of the rest of you. "Wala russ wala wala. Russ wala Gugnir, wala wala Thavir.
Thinking of how the rest were adorned or dressed - did any of the remaining walrus folk seem like the intelligent type? Casters, religious, or with books or scroll cases that indicate refinement and intelligence?
((In the large hallway, no, they all seemed to fit the "warrior caste" motif that you have seen painted on the walls here and there. A few of the bodies you saw among the large animal pile upstairs were robed like those of what could be considered a "scholar caste" of these people.))

After everyone is done doing their best to communicate with him, Gavin waves his hand for Rhudall to follow and leads him to the room where the other walrus men are As I turn turn to start walking out of the forge room I will put the goggles on. He asks whomever has the glass scale to show it to him. Gavin points at the scale and then his fallen friends. All the while he is on guard for any surprises.
Rhudall wanders over to his remaining brethren and checks them over. With almost reverence he touches each in turn and shakes his head. "Russ wala. Wala wala." When Gavin shows him the scale, a hardened look crosses his walrus features. "Jokun." He almost spits the name. Reaching down, Rhudall picks up a pair of battle axes that lie near the pile of his companions. "Jokun russ wala russ russ wala wala. Thavir russ wala Gugnir. Russ wala."

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
Rhudall takes in Mirabel's performance and you see something of a twinkle of understanding in his eyes. Taking one of the scales, he begins scraping out a design on the floor. First it appears to be several random points, but as he scratches connecting lines to them you see that they form what looks like a constellation of a dragon in flight. You start to think you have a good idea of what is going on, but then you see that Rhudall isn't finished yet. Over top of the draconic starfield he begins scraping what looks like a writhing core of tentacles. It's very rough, but when he is done he points at the drawing on the ground and looks to Mirabel. "Jokun."
Gavin takes his finger and points to the dragon he drew. “Jokun” He then motions to everyone and then slams his fist into an open hand and points back at Jokun trying to convey that we will smash (kill) Jokun.
He says to Maribel, “Can you wake the others the same way you woke him?”
”also, Mirabel do you know what those tentacle things are? You have a better understanding of this Astral stuff than the rest of us” ((I offer guidance on his next check))
"I don't think Jokun is the dragon," Kathra says, frowning. "I think Jokun is something nastier than that." She looks over her own skin, to see if perhaps there's a dragon on her somewhere now.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thont tries to pantomime “waking” the friends of Rhudall.
(Does Rhudall seem to be comfortable here? I’m still not convinced these are the same folks meditating and doing fine dexterity/Science/Magic work here - does he act like he owns the place or that he revers it? Maybe they were pilgrims?)

Peren points to himself and says, “Peren”
and ask what happened here, as he waves his hand around slowly
and says “We are here to help you find Russ”

((Sorry folks - had an early flight West coast to get East and have been I disposed.))
Thont approaches as he does everything - an overly thoughtful monk’s compassion. He tries to indicate he is a meditative, peaceful creature. “Thont.”
And I can help awaken the others as well!
Mirabel shrugs. "I'd rather avoid getting hit like that again, but I'm sure we can figure something out."
Rhudall seems to relax a small amount and reaches out to shake Gavin's hand, eyes weary of the rest of you. "Wala russ wala wala. Russ wala Gugnir, wala wala Thavir.

Kathra pulls one of the scales out of her bag and hands it over. "Think he'll get what you're saying?"
I try to make sense of some of the words by pointing at myself-“Gavin”
point at the sword-“Gugnir”
point at him-“Rhudall”
point at scale-“Jokun”
Then I say “Russ” and have a confused look on my face and point nowhere. Same thing with the word “wala” and see if he can help interpret

Mirabel takes the scale from Kathra and performs a pantomime trying to get across the question of "what the hell is this and where did it come from?"

For Kathra:
There is not. Only normal animal constellations are all you find.
