Obsben just about says something before the plaintive whines of Basil draws her back to the limping dog. "Oh poor baby. I'd love to use a bit of magic to tend to that, but not yet." She pets the side his face. "I know you don't care much for him, but I'd appreciate if you take Basil here with you back to the main area. For without my usual bolstering magic, I fear he will not survive any other strange occurances."Obby requests of Cassra while lighting up a silver piece.
(OOC: Apart from re-uping Inspiring Tale for Neya and casting that light spell, anything else Obsben would do for prep requires a much needed short rest.)

(Neya has Evasion, so wouldn't that have been entirely negated?)
Getting ready to delve into the very-like dark depths of the sub-archives, Neya swipes her fingers across her eyes, cousing them to faintly glow (Using last 2 ki points).
Taking a few seconds to prepare themselves before advancing, Neyaenhances her vision and Graxx adjust his belt of dwarvenkind. While Utar considers whether to re-activate his driftglobe, Obsben goes ahead and lights a silver piece.
Even Cassra realizes this is not time to focus on petty squabbles. She nods at her fellow halfling, accepting her new charge. With one arm damaged and another now re-wielding her lantern despite all the flammable treasures around, Cassra advances slowly back to the archives' entrance. Basil stays near, lightly pushing against the librarian's torso for additional support. Nodding among themselves, CRAP heads to the sub-archives. Cassra's key opens the locked door loudly.
Stairs descend in a spiral until they reach one central room deep into the earth. This huge room is littered with the ruined remains of bookshelves, desks and other furniture. The middle of the room is barren, but is blackened with the soot of century-old flames, and charred bones are strewn about. The ceiling in the sub-archive is 15 feet high at the outer edges of the room and slopes up to 30 feet high in the center. A large vent has been cut into the ceiling at its highest point, right above the soot-filled and bone-strewn area. Shape-wise, the sub-archive is an enormous square, 100 feet to a side.
There are no light sources in the archives, so CRAP's enhanced senses or light sources become essential here. The toppled shelves extend only 40 or so feet out from the walls. The silence in the area is only interrupted by distant moans, scuttling, and scratching sounds.
Once the group advances far enough into the room to be able to see the far wall within their sight ranges, it becomes clear that a huge hole has been blasted into that far wall, while the ground around it is littered with bricks and debris. Unlike everything else here, the damage looks recent. CRAP is now 60 feet away from the far wall and about 10 feet away from the center soot-filled and bone-strewn area.
(OOC - Apologies for the lack of a post yesterday. It was a day.)
If he's able to, Utar will spend some of the non-rest downtime, once he and the others are clear of debris and he has the driftglobe back, casting prayer of healing to deliver a hp top up of 16 to all of CRAP and Cassra.
Looking into the bone strewn sub-acrchive, Utar takes up Lightbringer, "I got a bad feeling about this."
"Was it the moans that tipped you off? Or the gaping hole that I'd wager might've been the result of that horn of blasting put to use?" Obsben asked quietly, giving Utar a sidelong look and cheeky smile. "If I didn't know any better, seems the event was quite painful for whoever might be up ahead, so there's maybe that.. but still, we're not liable to get the drop on them with all this light. I.. could hang back a bit or piggy back on Graxxy with me blade covered, seeing as the rest of you are quite comfortable enough in the dark and could sneaky peeky in there. Otherwise, we're just gonna have to chance it now, won't we?"

"Moans indeed... And scratching... Are they alive or dead? I'll find out" Graxx asks.
Graxx will once more cast DIVINE SENSE.
Divine SensePHB, pg. 84
As an action, you can detect good and evil. Until the end of your next turn, you can sense anything affected by the hallow spell or know the location of any celestial, fiend, undead within 60 ft. that is not behind total cover. You can use this feature 3 times per long rest.
After being freed from the debris, Utar takes 10 minutes to pray for some divine healing. (Utar recovers 16 HP; Cassra recovers 16 HP; Basil recovers 16 HP; Obsben recovers 16 HP; Graxx recovers 16 HP; and Salty Bottom recovers 16 HP.)
IN THE SUB-ARCHIVES
As Obsben begins to put together previously collected evidence and parts of the scene before them, the group passively approaches the center of the enormous chamber on their way to the far wall. Utar fears what the gruesome central exhibit may imply, as does Neya. Sensing something is amiss, Graxx turns on his undead-sensing abilities and immediately spots a foul presence right in front of the group. As if responding to the barbarian's magical capabilities, soot, bones, and moisture in the room begin to come together in a grotesque mass. It seems to be trying to assume a humanoid form but is struggling with the task given the insufficient number of raw materials. Like a ghastly, unfinished creation of an evil god, the resulting shape is malformed. Its wet, wrinkled, and bloated body is surmounted by a hairless, overlarge head set with glassy, vacant eyes. It constantly drools stinking ichor as it mouths obscenities. Its arms are too slender, with tiny hands ending in cruelly shaped nails. It floats, with its atrophied, dead legs hanging uselessly below it.
(OOC: Every now and then, for certain make-it-or-break-it fights, I like to ask you guys to roll your own initiative. This is one of those times. Please roll initiative.)
"Oh... that's not good. That's good. At. All!"A for once genuinely flustered Obsben hurried off to the side hoping to some burnt debris for cover. Even if she cannot, she'd reach out for the creature and utter a word that would see it slammed by visions of contradicting presents and futures. As for Salty Bottom, a mental command sends him higher up to observe while keeping to defensive postures.
Movement(Obsben): To J-41.
Action(Obsben): Cast Chronal Splinter Malformed Undead. Int Save(DC 16) or take 6 Psychic Damage and subtract 1 from next save.
Movement(SB): To L-37(20ft up or as close as possible).
Watching this grotesque form itself from detritus from the floor, Utar grits his teeth and stands his ground. Whatever it is, if it's formed from discarded body parts, Utar has a plan for that.
Speaking Lightbringer's command word, the half-orc feels oddly comforted by the holy light that eminates from his mace. Even here, in front of such evil, Torm is with him, his friends are with him, and he doesn't like the odds for this thing lasting much longer.
Closing his eyes for a moment, he calls forth his spectral warhammer behind the monstrosity (R,35) and wastes no time in applying it to the back of thing's head.
Attack: 11 Damage: 13
(OOC - Upcasting the spell at fourth level for 2d8+4 force damage on a hit. I think that's right? If not, casting at fifth level for that sweet, sweet extra damage.)
(OOC 2 - Also, there should be an extra 4 on that attack roll. for 15, rather than 11. Reading your characte sheet is fundamental.)
(@Ori: The ceiling here is 15ft high, so that is as far as SB would be able to go. The monster is basically as high as the ceiling, though it is floating.)
(@MB: You were right originally. A 4th level spell slot results in 2d8+WIS version of the spell. Sorry for the confusion in the OOC Chat, and thanks for coming to my rescue, @Ori. Also, I am confirming here that your attack roll was a 15.)
(@Drache: It looks like that second arrow is a crit, so there should be a second acid damage die in there. Let me roll it here: 1 (5).)
Before CRAP can spring into action, some of the black dust that helped form the creature begins swirling around it. Those in the creature's vicinity can't help but be affected by the negative energy it produces. (Utar takes 9 necrotic damage;Graxx takes 9 necrotic damage;Neya takes 9 necrotic damage.)
Obsben runs for cover while Salty Bottom flies up to get a good look at the monstrosity's deformed face. The witch sends forth a mind sliver but it does not seem to best the monster.
Utar prepares his physical weapon but attacks with his spiritual one first. Ichor spews forth from the delivered wound. (Malformed Undead takes 13 force damage.)
Shrugging off the aura damage, Graxx advances in a Rage and strikes the creature twice! The monster recoils violently once the barbarian's blade shines with radiant light. (Malformed Undead takes 62 magical slashing and radiant damage.)
Neya decides to attack from a distance, sending two acid arrows at the creature. They each splash successfully and melt away some of the malformation's thin skin. (Malformed Undead takes 33 magical piercing and acid damage.)
LEGENDARY ACTION
At the end of Neya's turn, the creature lets out a ear-splitting wail.
-> Once again, I'll ask each of you to roll your own saves this time: CON saving throw {DC 19} or gain one level of exhaustion.
