(OOC: Unfortunately there's no readying Bonus Actions, so at best this is a stop gap maneuver)
Obsben collapse to a knee covering her ears after the second screech. But on shaky legs she rose again, if but to have the option of diving out of the way of the wraith's next attack. "Such a... such a loud thing..."She quietly complains, only to then frown and risk a glance to a hand. "... I see... Thir... Thirty feet... That's the range..." She went on to murmur, before staring disapprovingly up at the wraith. "You know... I'm not one to mock anothers family all willy nilly like...Bu-... But I must confess that... I'm starting to think your Mama was so ... so flipping fat that... I mean... just look at her..." She gestures over to the floating undead abomination giving people stink eyes and screaming like a baby.
"Hey Neya! ... Ya ready to get up or what?" She called out after, lacing her words with just the last vestiges of real power to hopefully at least stave off the death of the monk, if nothing else.
Bonus Action: Cast (1st level)Healing Word on Neya, restoring(hopefully) 5 HP.
Action: Cast Yo Mama on Wraith. Wis Save(DC 16) or take 5 Psychic Damage and suffer disadvantage on next attack.

Struggling a bit, Obsben picks herself up and weaves two spells in a brief monologue. The first half of it is dedicated to insulting the closest undead creature, and it works like a charm. The wraith shakes its head as if a real brain was inside. (Wraith takes 5 psychic damage.)
The second half of Obsben's talk takes a completely different tone. The bard tries to breath some life into her fellow adventurer, but something about the negative aura in the room prevents the spell from working properly. Neya remains unconscious. Not only that, but the aura also continues to siphon the monk's life energy. (Neya takes 9 necrotic damage, which translates into 1 failed DEATH saving throw. This is the same damage as detailed in post#479.)
To make matters worse, it looks like Neya's body is also failing on its own. (Neya fails her save and now has 2 failed DEATH saving throws.)
LEGENDARY ACTION (at the end of Neya's turn)
Pointing a deformed finger a Utar, the malformed undead releases a blast of cold:
(Oooc: Mmmmm... nooo.. gonna have to burn my last Chronal Shift. T.T)
Reaction: Chronal Shift on the 16 in its to hit roll.
"Utar. You might wish to move her away -- Oh no no no!" Obsben snaps her fingers at the Wraith as it reached out to her, forcing it to replay the moment... preferably worse!
Despite infecting the wraith's "brain" with doubt, Obsben faces the worst possible outcome. The wraith makes contact once more and the pain felt by the halfling is doubled this time around. Or so this is what Obsben sees in her vision a second before it was supposed to happen. This insight gives the witchling a chance to react (reference#1 and reference#2), and successfully avoid the attack! (Obsben takes 22 necrotic damage and her HP maximum goes down by the same amount.)
LEGENDARY ACTION (at the end of the wraith's turn)
The creature stretches one of its atrophied arms and tries to touch Graxx:
One of Graxx's wounds begins to fester at an unnatural rate. (Graxx takes 15 necrotic damage.)
(Graxx and Utar are up next. At the beginning of their respective turns, Graxx and Utar each take 10 necrotic damage. This will trigger a concentration check from Utar.)
Graxx coughs once after inhaling some ashes. (Graxx takes 10 necrotic damage. This is the same damage as detailed in post#487.)
Sensing that this fight is pushing CRAP to the limit and wanting to put an end on it now, Graxx winds up another swing of his massive weapon. This first swing opens an enormous gash on the creature's main mass, spreading ashes everywhere and forcing the creature to stop hovering and hit the ground. (Malformed Undead takes 31 magical slashing and radiant damage.)
The battle is won. Graxx has been in this position numerous times. He knows when the foe has no further recourse. He knows when the time has come to put them out of their misery. A second slash of his axe does the job. (Malformed Undead takes 21 magical slashing damage and is DEFEATED.)
As the negative aura in the room fades away, Utaryells at Neya, encouraging her to get back up. This time, the magical healing works as expected. (Neya recovers 8 HP and is no longer unconscious nor incapacitated.)
Utar then turns to wack the evil being with Lightbringer but finds it already down.
Close to the northeast corner of the room, the wraith grunts in pain as it is sucked back into the parent undead's form. It would seem this wraith can not exist outside the negative energy space created by "mama undead".
(@MB: Since the malformed Undead was defeated before the beginning of your turn, Utar never took those 10 points of damage mentioned in post#487.)
WE ARE NOW OUT OF INITIATIVE. YOU MAY DO AS YOU WILL.
Even Obsben, who wasn't much of one to show a good deal of emotion beyond small smile or feigned shock, let out a big sigh of relief once it became clear the battle was well and truly one. 'Well... One battle at least'She thought as attention drifted to the blasted open opening beyond the remains of their negative energy fueled foe. Following another sigh and a dismissive shake of the head, Obsben proceeded to go grab her knife life from wherever Salty Bottom dropped it, before finally joining the others.
"Well that was certainly exciting, wasn't it? And yet, there lies one last challenge for us, I suspect. Unfortunately, I don't have much magic left that I can call upon save a few cantrips and what lesser scrolls I squared away for a rainy day. Even so, do we press our luck without any rest -- a short one, mind you? Or do we dare to fall back and risk... well, who knows what really at this point? I for one don't mind either which option."She addressed the others with before giving a shrug. "At this point our thief already has at least an hour over us since opening that hole, or so I suspect, so I'm not certain what an hour more will buy them that they haven't already seen to by now... But who can say."

Neya rises from the floor and assesses the now, not-so-dire situation. One thing she knows for sure: necrotic gashes are not a good time.
"It really depends on what the culprit intends to do with the books. The keys to these archives were quite the misdirect," Neya says, reasonably sure that they were the only one to have gone this far into the sub-archives in recent history.
Looking around at the rest of the CRAPpers, Utar lets out a sigh of relief.
"Torm preserves us still. We need to keep moving, they're ahead of us, but if they find whatever it is they're looking for and disappear, the Cult will have acheived a great victory wth us none the wiser to their end goal. If all of these books they stole point towards a secret magical pool under the city itself, we need to find it and stop them. If we could turn another Cult member over to Aleyd, it would go a long way towards helping Moneus as well."
Slumping to his knees, Utar drops Lightbringer and his shield at his side and rubs his hands across his face. "How we're meant to do that with us in the shape we are is the big question and I've no answers for what we do next."
Looking upwards, Utar spreads his hands wide "Torm, we're near spent. We're trying, we're willing but we're in rough shape. We need help. We need your help. If you would give it, you know what we are capable of, you know we would work towards your aims."
Utar closes his eyes and calling on Torm for his divine intervention - 82 if equal to or under 10, then Torm intervenes.
Waiting a moment, Utar opens his eyes, first one, then the other. Looking around and gauging that nothing appears to have happened, Utar shrugs. Not his best prayer.
"Well, Torm also loves those who help themselves and we'd be better off not charging into danger. The big man clearly has no issues with us taking a rest, only question is where we head to next."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Obsben waves a hand in dismissal of the offer from Graxx, before gesturing over to Neya and Utar. The latter of which she looks to with a head slightly cocked to the side. "Where to as in where should we take a breather or seek out our adversary? If its the latter, there is the obvious hole over there. But if it is the former, we could fall back to the stacks and make some kind of makeshift blind to watch the entryway."
She holds up a halting finger. "However, considering our thief is at least somewhat versed in the disabling and likely use of magic, it is not outside the realm of possibility of them simply teleport out once they've acquired what they are after. If not via their own magics, then through a very, very expensive scroll no doubt pilfered elsewhere. But nevertheless, if rest is in order than let us fall back to the stacks and away from the remains here. Though rare, there are plenty enough cautionary tales out there about why the living should never rest among the dead."Regardless of whether her advice is heeded or not, to both pass the time and set nerves at ease, Obby would launch into a spin off story from the Boggle Knight Series about a set of magical beasts that were accidentally left behind by a wizarding family, and how they had to travel across the land braving many dangers and obstacles to reunite with them in their new home.

A victory has been achieved, another one in a long list for CRAP, but at a cost. The party is tired, hurt, and in doubt. Nonetheless, knowing the job still needs to be completed, they discuss next steps. Obsben reminds everyone that the huge hole blown on the far wall is likely the path taken by the thief. Graxx waves a few potions around for those who might need it. Utar tries to reach out to Torm but is seemingly told to trust in himself, and Neya still seeks for a motive and use for the books now that the group has found two out of three of those originally stolen tomes.
In the end, it seems they settle for taking an hour to patch their wounds and catch their breath. They track back to the main archives, finding a corpse-free side study room to rest in.
