The woman doesn't appear to like any of you, but opens the gate anyway. The place is home to about twenty people, some knights, some priests. One person, a woman in her sixties clad in armor, is issuing orders to two young male knights.
The women cocks her head and studies you. She gives you a warm smile "Yes you are right, I run this place. You're adventurers right? What may I help you with?"
"Indeed, we are! I'm Fadi and these are my companions. We heard about the vanishing of a delegation nearby and that sounded like something we should investigate..." he says, hoping she jumps in with some useful info.
Kalhiri had gone silent in the exchange with the guard. Or was it a captain? But when she heard Pyre-Winder proposing to get back to the road, she jumps at the opportunity, "That's a good idea, I can come with you in case you encounter more gnolls."
Fadi frowns a bit, disappointed with the woman's answer. "I see... but did you hear about anything weird happening around the area?"
After she answers, he'll address the party: "That's not a bad idea, Pyre-Winder. But, like Kalhiri, I think it would be safer if we follow you to avoid ambushes."

" Sure...but can you fly?", the old bird said quizzically.
"I can't" Fadisays, a hint of sadness in his voice. "But I thought we should follow you on foot, just in case. Unless you think you're safe in the air."

" I have no objections as long as you think you will be safe."
As they head out Garth asks Aelin to go aloft as well, circling high and keeping an eye out for trouble. If he spots anything, Garth tells him to fly perpendicular to their direction of travel, then flow low and return to the group. "No harm doubling up, eh?" he says with a shrug, making sure that the others are comfortable with his plan.

" Not at all, and young Aelin is far more agile than myself."
Pyre-Winder spread his wings and took off with a grunt of effort, flying lazy widening zig-zags as he scanned the environment below.
The valley looks nromal to you but then you hear something. A strange, croaking cry catches your attention. You spot a trio of huge, winged shapes gliding towards you -- Giant Vultues! Each bird carries on it's back a warrior in dull blue armor with a dirty white cloak. They have weapons drawn, could everyone roll initiative?
Pyre-Winder rubbed his temples slowly, " Yes....anyway. May we enter?"

Fadi approaches the woman, waiting for her to be done with the knights. "Hello, there. You seem to be someone important around here, am I right?"
Pyre-Winder both admires and cringes at the impetuousness of youth.

She shakes her head "Sorry, the delegation never arrived her."
" Perhaps I should scout the approach and see if I can see anywhere from the air where the delegation may have been diverted?"
" What do you think?", he asked his companions.
