 I did use it in the rolls. 
The second velociraptor goes down and Nadir’s horse goes up! 

The vegepygmy slings a rock at Yoku, hitting with a 17 for 3 damage. 

The violet fungus misses Nadir with its totging touch attack. 

Volo stabs at Count and bounces off his armor. 

The walrus tusks at one dog, hitting it for 10 damage. 

Dolrik fails to roll the dead at the fungus, Twilight Sanctuary drops, and the dogs continue after the walrus: Attack: 21 Damage: 3

Attack: 22 Damage: 4

Nadir climbs back onto the horse which will dodge. Then Nadir goes after the Walrus and the Fungus.

I thought the sanctuary stopped this turn but if it was still active this turn or we’ve got a new one, then temp hp for n and h are: 9 and 8. The horse is at 6hp, plus temp hp if still active.

 Make a charisma check! If it’s high enough, I might just allow it.

Unfortunately that’s not gonna be quite enough. If he rolled high on his wisdom check (he rolled an 8 and decided discretion is not the better part of valor) I’d have allowed it. He shakes his head no. 

The vegepygmy hits Yoku with a sling attack for 4 damage, ricocheting off his breastplate into an unprotected area. 
The violet fungus makes 3 rotting touch attacks against Nadir, one of which misses and two of which bounce off her armor. 

Volo goes after Sir Spits, getting a nat 20 to hit for 6 damage! Ouch. 

Dolrik drops the fungus with toll the dead and the dogs help on attacks. You all are up!

Nadir tries to down the Fungus with her short before coming after the imprudent Volo with her dagger!

Disadvantage to the attack on Spitz dodging or protective feature?
