Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
Zane replies, "If that's the case, we're missing something. That ladder under the rug cannot be the only entrance and exit. It's just too inconvenient for people. Or maybe they just turned into a murderous cloud, misted about, and weren't bothered about it."
He, once again, pulls out his grappling hook and rope, attaches the hook to the rope, and gives it to Tex. "Hold this. I'll go down and attach it to the large carpet. Let's check under there as well. I'll then come back up, and we can pull together."
(and he does so, waving for Tex to lower the hook down once he's gone down the stairs. He'll then just pierce a corner of the huge carpet with it and heads back upstairs to help pull)
Tex does as he has been asked by Zane and helps him to lift up the large carpet in the entry hall. “You’re absolutely right, I can’t fathom that they maneuvered the cask down that hole. If it isn’t behind that last door, then we most definitely missed something.”

You give the puppet a mighty pull and rip it from the box. Tearing through the cotton stuffed innards, you eventually pull out a polished jet stone, about the size of your palm.
Zane and Tex
Working together, you work towards pulling the massive rug from its place and in doing so, you reveal............ the hardwood floor underneath.
"Um... I wish I knew," answered Lana Bellamy's question. She showed everyone her finding - polished jet stone. "Looks kind of ordinary. I mean, it is a gemstone after all, and pretty too, but to hide it with such precaution it has to be magical."Tex was already gone to pull the rug, and Lana simply gave the thing to Rel. "We can add to the treasure pile and find out what it is later."
She picked up the box with the keys and the remains of the puppet. "You think it can be fixed?" Tex seemed to know his way around mechanic things and Lana packed the remains of the puppet in her backpack. "We'll see later. One more door?"
She got out of the room, looked down at the result of rug-pulling, chuckled and yelled "We are going to check the last door!". Whether it was indeed "we" or only her but curiosity demanded to finish what they started and she walked to the door on the opposite side of the balcony. With the usual caution (Perception 26, Investigation 20and if necessary Thieves' Tools 13with Guidance) Lana tried to open the last door.
Tex shakes his head at the revealed hard wood floor and joins Lana. He stands next to the door with Lizzy at the ready, waiting for Lana to open the door. “I’m ready if you want to open it.”

Lanafinds this door to be neither locked, nor trapped. Opening it you can hear a haunting yet gentle song begin to play and looking inside you can see an organ that appears to be playing itself. This master bedroom is the most well decorated of all the rooms so far with expensive looking paintings on the walls, golden candelabras, a poster bed made of both wood and dark onyx stone with large jewels atop each of the four posts. A desk on the northern wall next to a large bookcase in the corner. Oddly, this room does not have any windows and does not allow natural light inside.
"All right, if we were looking for a vampire lair, I think this one fits the bill." Lana squinted into the darkness. "Oh, and is it the missing coffin over there?"
She stepped inside not particularly sneaky but trying to step lightly and walked to the desk first (also trying to avoid the carpet) to see if there was anything of note there. (Investigation: 19 )
Tex eyes bulge as Lana enters the room, even as careful as she does, and he quickly casts Detect Magic, letting her know of any auras that he can see.

"And the coffin," Rel murmurs, though everyone except Lana probably already knows. "It isn't the same one we transported on the Dragonfly, which was just a crate. I wonder if this one was actually one of the Briarwoods' coffins. Seems like it."
(Rel is genuinely can't remember if both of the Briarwoods were vampires or just one of them, having only heard the lore second-hand from Zane).
Bellamy heads into the room and then says "So the boy is not here and its strange that the organ is enchanted. We can test it out from a distance with Rel's mage hand. Of course once we are done exploring this room"
He then picks up and briefly scans the contents of the scattered books to see if their is any useful information.
Tex strolls over to Zane, “I think you were right from the beginning, there doesn’t seem to be anything here. This is just a front.”

"Maybe Vlad woke up, got out and went down the hole with them," mutters Rel morbidly.
"I still don't know where they would put the coffin, though, unless it's somewhere here we didn't see, took it back out, or threw it down the hole."
Like Bellamy, she stands warily to see what Lana finds under the bizarre puppet, tapping the ranger's shoulder to grant her Guidance once more.

Zane goes back down and unhooks his contraption from the carpet.
He then walks criss-cross across the floor where the carpet was, trying to determine if any of it is hallow. Perception check: 10
"True, why hide this stone. Once we get a chance I can check if its magical." says Bellamy. He then follows Lana 10 ft behind her.
Not wanting to touch the stone with her bare hands, Rel summons her Mage Hand to accept the stone.
The Mage Hand tucks it away into her handy haversack for Bellamy to inspect later.

Zane heads back upstairs, but stays away from the doors for now, instead continuing to scan the surroundings.
At Lana's mention of a coffin, Rel approaches the doorway to the master bedroom and peeks inside.
She attempts to check visually whether it matches the Vlad's crate - the one that the party had helped guard on the voyage of the Dragonfly.

Tex
The only magic aura you can see is coming from the organ. The aura is of the enchantment school of magic.
Lana
The desk contains only blank pieces of paper as well as ink wells and quill pens, though it looks like the ink has dried up and hardened beyond use.
Rel
This coffin does not resemble the crate that Vlad was transported in. This is indeed an actual coffin and not just a wooden crate.
“The organ is enchanted,” Tex lets everyone know. “I’m not sure that it will do anything more than just play but be prepared for the worst.”
