Disappointed in her search Lana only nodded. "Fine with both options. It's actually a good idea, that whoever lives here just filled the house with traps, so any intruder would be either dead very fast or so drained that would not dare to go down to the actual hideout. You never know, though. Someone can wait for us upstairs."
Tex follows Zane at some 10 feet distance and checks for traces of magical energy.

Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
You all head back to the main foyer and make your way up the two spiral staircases, choosing the western stairs with Zane leading the way. The staircase leads up to a balcony looking down upon the floor below where you had just come from. Atop the stairwell you immediately see two gargoyle statues affixed to the northern wall with an unlit brazier resting on the musty carpeted floor between them.
Two walkways line the eastern and western walls. The western of which has two unopened doors while the eastern has a single door which is also unopened. Looking over the edge of the balcony railing you can see the massive carpet below you, filled with piles of rubble from the stone statues you had fought earlier.

Rel tries to peek around everyone from her rear-guard position and shoot a beam of energy at the nearest gargoyle when she sees Tex attack. But there are too many people in the way and her balance is off from being only partway up the stairs.
Any statue in this house indeed looked suspicious and Lana happily joined the demolition effort as thoroughly as one can. She moved her mark over to the attacked gargoyle and soot.
Tex's spear knocks a statue from the wall just as a bolt from Lana's crossbow strikes the other statue. They both fall to the floor and crumble upon impact, still unsettling is the lack of sound within the area of silence. Two piles of stone now sit on the floor on either side of the unlit brazier.
"I'll check that one out." Lana realized that she can not hear her own voice, laughed silently and motioned towards the closest out of two western doors. Then came closer to check for traps (Investigation: 17)
Tex continues to try to Detect Magic all around them while following Lana to the doors.

The party moves westward towards the closed door, the constant fear of the unknown setting them at unease. Lana, carefully inspects the door, taking a moment to closely inspect it before finding a small lever trap set at the base of the door between it and the floor. Meanwhile Texlooks for any sort of magical trace but there seems to be nothing in the vicinity.
Lana pointed at the trap and (just in case they were out of the zone of silence) added a verbal explanation. "Trap."She looked at Rel (whose presence somehow helped solve problems - aka hope for Guidance), then motioned everyone to stay back and checked her tool-set for the right instrument to remove the danger. Once everyone was safely away, she tried to disarm the trap.
Lana, you pull out your Thieves' Tools and from it, a small mirror. Using it to peer under the door, you can see the the lever device is attached to a wire. Taking out the scissors you are able to just reach the wire and snip it. As you do you hear the tension from a spring release followed by a loud 'thunk' as a crossbow bolt sinks into the wooden door.

As the others return from the greenhouse, Zane says, "I've silenced the top of the stairs. Let's go have a look."
He looks around and stops for a moment. "I'll look around the staircases first on this floor."
He circles around the bottom of the stairs to ensure there isn't a way down or anything else they didn't check before when the statues attacked.
Roll investigation to check for these things.

Zane gives the room a closer inspection and he determines, very confidently, that there is nothing else to this room.
Zane heads up the stairs then, taking the west side stairs.
Tex follows Zane at some 10 feet distance and checks for traces of magical energy.

"Guess we are going upstairs." Lana kept her distance to let the scouts work but stayed close enough to Tex to help if needed.

Zane, in the area of silence, pulls out his rapier, looks at the others and motions to break the statues from distance.
Tex nods and throws his spear at the nearest gargoyle.
