"So what do you think will be waiting for us at Hunter's Gate? Looks like Hightower's not the only one interested in what's inside this box. I'm starting to get pretty intrigued, myself." Alan said as they walked along the streets. He kept his weapons sheathes and holstered, but his hand rested on the handle of his hand crossbow as he scanned the shadows.

"Aye. Very true. And this cloak and dagger, late night meetings doesn't seem the style of the Orcs I've met in battle. It must be a relic of great power for them to come into such a large, Orc unfriendly city in order to grab it."
"I see three options... We can wait for the handoff and then ambush the Orcs outside the city. We could..."
Fargrim thinks for a second to figure out if they have time...
"Yes... we could convince the factory employee to give the item to us (and perhaps meet up with the Orcs ourselves while the rest of us wait in ambush), or we can come up to them while they're meeting and take the... more direct approach."
Fargrim laughs at the thought of the upcoming battle, swinging his battleaxe in the air testing it's already well-known balance and listening to the swoosh as it cuts through the air as easily as it cuts through his enemies.
"Oh, you think it's an employee of the warehouse that took the box? Interesting. Regardless of who it is, it makes more sense to confront a single person than many. We should try to catch this delivery-boy before he gets to the meeting place or before the orcs get there." Alan responded to Fargrim.
This is getting interesting. The small bearded one is a bit bloodthirsty, though. I'm all for hunting monsters and all, but people? I don't know about that.

"If we try to catch a thief in the act we should be prepared to give chase. I have not met someone with nimbly fingers who was not also nimbly on their feet. We also shouldn't assume that these are Orcs we're dealing with. It is not a widely accepted or known language thus making it useful for simple codes.
We should attempt to locate an individual hauling a chest and surround them before they have a chance to notice us. Does anyone know something of a stun or a way to get them off their feet? I do not trust a bored guard to grasp this dealing quick enough and may inadvertently aid the crook's escape thus a fast grab would benefit us greatly."
"Aye, taking the person or persons who have the chest before they meet this orc seems the best plan. Let's hope we can catch them before they meet. Solaster, that's a good idea. I do have a couple of tricks - little magic words - that may help if we need to put someone down quickly."

"Perhaps we could buy ourselves some time. Whoever is doing this exchange is counting on the change of guard. What if we alerted the guards to this deal going down? If the guards are anything like my men were, they should be able to handle any intruders."
Fargrim quiets, stroking his scar in thought before silently returning to the journey at hand. His chainmail clinks as he jogs to keep up with the rapid walking of the rest of the party.
"Guards aren't the best, you can't tell who can be trusted." Arynn comments. "I suggest we get this done ourselves, casing the Hunter's Gate first and working out where these chest thieves will be."
As you approach the gate it is very dark. A few torches line the top of the wall but the area around the gate is heavily shadowed. Six figures can be seen standing in the shadows of the gate. One of them much larger than the other five. Two small figured stand on one side of a figure who is speaking quietly but animatedly and two on the other side. the larger figure is wearing a cloak and its features are hidden even if it was not shadowed. This is who the talking figure is speaking to.

Between planning for their approach and reaching the gate, Solastor reaches up and grabs the golden orb shining above his head. The light goes out as he closes his hand around it. When he opens his hand the orb is no longer present. He doesn't say anything but there is a sadness that rest upon his shoulders as he continues to move forward now in darkness.
"Do you think they already delivered the box? They wouldn't still be here if they had, right? We should probably split up and cover each of the roads leading to this area so we can intercept the box." Alan said quietly to the others.

[Are we within 60 ft? I'm curious if I can make out more details with my darkvision. Also, it sounds almost as if there are two groups there facing each other and talking. Am I reading that right? In case you want a roll, Perception: 15 Insight: 6]
(the way I am describing it is that you are all further away and seeing this in the distance, a couple blocks away. I wrote it that way so if you all wanted to approach in a special way you can. Also what you see is one figure talking with another and the smaller one has 4 figures on either side of him, with him perhaps?)

"Except if we are wrong, we might miss our opportunity altogether. We have a number of strong fellows here... perhaps we could get in closer and discover their plans with a little subterfuge. Perhaps two guards taking their drunk friend home, while our ranged attackers hold back in case there is trouble?" He looks meaningfully at the Bard, imagining of all of them he might play the most realistic drunk.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Works for me." Alan said, hefting his hand crossbow. "Don't get killed. Also, don't block my shot if things go south. I'm good, but I'm not a miracle worker."
Alan made his way to some cover in the shadows and got within range as the others went about discovering the nature of the meeting by the gate.
"Excellent. What of the rest of you? Do you approve of the plan, or have a better one? Who's good at acting?" Fargrim says, doffing his shield and hiding his battleaxe under the cloak of his clothes, traveler's. He makes sure his secondary emblem is close at hand in case things get sticky and someone needs healing before he has a chance to don his shield.
"I never took much to theater, but with my strength I could carry our 'drunk' friend, making the performance more believable and getting in closer without needing to be stealthy or talk our way out of trouble, neither of which are my strong points."
