Horace rubs the back of his mane and says, "Ah yes... about that. You see, we don't exactly have any other members so..."
(Also you could have picked the Playwright up and if you took a longer route, you can drop by on Sydil and then head straight to Drynia to complete the job)
Elsara hasn't actually gotten around to checking the quest board in a long time. From heading off to the academy to complete research, to immediate recall for a current mission. She hadn't really thought about what would be up next. Elsara thinks for a minute. "Well, it'd be nice to help Miss Darkwing out if there's something that needs to be done to help her."She mentions to the group. "And if there's any urgent ones we should also look at getting them done as soon as we can!"
Runt would try to find a moment to inquire Horace about her crafted weapons progress. Giving a sort of grunt to interject at a convenient time to get his attention.

Devarus bows his head and sighs. "No others, huh? I had been afraid of that answer, though I should've known better." Straightening out once more, he gives Horace one last curt head bow, and then look to the others. "To the board then. And, thanks again, Sir." At that, he leads the way back down to take a look at the board.
"So much for a little backtracking."He states as he eventually gestures to mission 1 and 3 on the board. "There's two that takes us to the Orien region. With the one being another mystery case, and possibly just the sort of unfortunate clue sight we need into our Affectus Ulti problem. Either of you know how long it'd take to get from Dyrnia to the Orien?" He asked the others. And if neither knew, he seek out Cathrine with the same question.

My grandfather was a notorious bandit in the Orien region. Recently, he was captured and executed in Farendale. However, his ring which was a family heirloom has been missing since. I do not like my grandfather's ways but I would like the ring back.

Message 2 (Written in Catherine's handwriting):
"I am an aspiring playwright. I have written some plays in my small village of Milstorm for some time. The plays all had mediocre success. However, I was recently struck by inspiration. I locked myself in my underground hideout to avoid distractions and spent the last 96 hour writing my best play yet! "Tower of the Mad Barbarian Sword Wizard" It's about... [Catherine's Note: A huge portion of this letter was removed by me because the writer went on a 10 page tangent describing his work in boring detail. Because it's my job I had to read the full fucking thing. Yes, it was boring and horrible and I had to get a big pitcher of ale before continuing. Yes the story is shit.] I wrote with such fervor that I passed out upon completion of the script. When I woke up and came out of my hiding spot, I was told that the village was almost destroyed by orcs. I was considering doing this anyway because a work as good as my latest must be performed on a bigger stage with a bigger audience than what is available in Milstorm. However, with the village in shambles, I have no choice but to go to Drynia and pursue my passion. Were I able, I would run to Drynia myself, such is my excitement to have my work performed in front of hundreds. Alas, the road is long, winding and dangerous. I will surely be beset upon by the deadly Bronze Leaf Bandits were I, a frail intellectual, to journey alone. That is why I require escorts to protect me and my valuable work while I travel to Drynia. I can not pay more than a few gold pieces now but I am sure my play will be a supreme success. Then, I can utilize my profits to pay you handsomely."

(Recent Update)The bad playwright is still at it. Go help him out so I don't have to sift through his long and shitty plays.

We have reports of people going missing in the Teahill Grasslands of Orien. The grasslands are known to have hostile wildlife so we believe that to be the case. However, at the request of Horace Sweetcane, I have decided to report anything remotely odd to the Guild. Don't tell Commander Daryll though. He gets really scary sometimes

If the group is going to use the rest of the day preparing and sorting out provisions etc. Elsara would like to copy the scrolls. She has some materials to transcribe into her book in her room (listed in her other equipment on her sheet) so can use that to copy across to her books. It'll give her a bit of time to get comfy back in her room, she hasn't had much time at the guildhall in a long time.
(She may have to purchase some extra materials for transcribing to her backup spellbook, will calculate it later if okayed.)
(Sorry for missing a couple days, took me a while to get caught up.)
Gendan would relay the quest board to the rest of the group, indicating that the third job seems to be the only one with a chance of being related to Affectus Uti, but the lost ring may have a good payout.
A couple of questions regarding the Sword of Ravengar: Would Elsara transcribing the Sword of Ravengar exhaust the scroll? Would Gendan be able to learn it, or would it only be a one-time use if Gendan were to have it?
To Deva “All I can say is that it’s faster by Pegasus or lizard wagon than it is by foot.” Gendan is good at navigating cities, but geography on a macro level is not her strong suit. If it wasn’t for the urgency of the Affectus Uti matter, Gendan would prefer to stray from the trail in order to potentially discover new treasures.
Of hearing Horace’s comment about Runt’s new weapon, Gendan can only smirk imagining her companion with one of the greatest weapons ever created.
About the spell: It would expend the scroll if Elsara transcribes it but Gendan can still learn it from Elsara's spell book. She will need to spend a Long Rest Learning the spell. It will not be one time use and she would be able to cast it as many time as she wants provided that she has the spell prepared and has spell slots. Basically, once you spend a long rest learning the spell, treat it as being part of your Warlock spell list.
"Yeah, of course!" Elsara smiles. "Actually, if I put it into my spare book, you can look over it if you like. I keep a backup tome here just in case it goes missing on an adventure."
(I'll mark off the monetary value of inks used etc. for transcribing. Elsara would like to make a backup scroll of the cantrip in case she gets the time to memorise that when she can next gain a cantrip, which is 10th.)
"Then I'll make arrangements for renting the lizards starting tomorrow then. For now, we can accept the ring mission as its in the area, and use our time in the Farendel to learn more about the Grasslands and any other details regarding the disappearance. It could even be that their connected."Devarus looks to the others to make sure there are no objections. "Miss Ruu. Seeing as we will be delayed a day, might we meet later. For lack of more elegant words, I wish to spar later. Well, practice feels more accurate. I still feel a fair bit out of sorts doing all this activity, and can use some downtime training against an opponent. If you're up for it." He requests.
Whether he secures Runt's attention for later or not, with a final curt nod, made his way over to Cathrine to complete any necessary final acceptance procedure. While he's at it, he'll also ask her about any maps the guild has available, so that he can best plot out course.
(To DM: I'm not sure if I asked the map question before or not. But, if it turns out the guild does have any maps, how long by Lizard Wagon would it take to get from Sydil to Milstrom and then to Dyrnia roughly speaking? And would it be possible/faster from Dyrnia to take a boat all the way to Farendel using the Evirie River? Or would you require like a survival or intelligence cartographer's check?)
DM: The Guild has maps. Was out all day so a bit tired. I'll put the maps up on the campaign page later. For now, you already have all the maps that you need.
To get to Farendale, you need to go from Sydil to Orien. Drynia is further away in Rigmer.
(Shoot. Alright. If only our casters more downtime... though I think there was a thing about group's needing to take missions together anyhow, so nevermind.)
Devarus commits to submitting the case of the missing ring(Mission #1) as the parties next objective, along with an apology on not being able assist with the would be playwright just yet. "If there's a chance the next go around, I'll be sure to try and make it a priority, Ms. Darkwing. I assure you. Though, perhaps by then they will have learned to pursuit another career?" He haplessly shrugs.
But with that, he waves Runt on over to follow him, promising to know a great spot outside of Guild Training Yards. And while they do eventually reach one meant for the Sydill Watch, upon seeing some old friends, Devarus at least gets them initially wrapped up shared tales with the old guard of the golden years. Assuming Runt doesn't become immediately insistent about sparring, she can tell within the first few minutes that most of the tales are either exaggerations, purely comedic, or otherwise a random tangent that doesn't have anything to do with fighting, so much as it was an interesting interaction with a visitor.
Devarus invites her to do the same, but won't push. Though if it seems he's losing her attention, he whispers to her to just try to relax and absorb. That there was more there she can try incorporating into her fighting methods than just relying on rage.
Alright. I updated the Campaign (Public Notes) with the map of every region of Lun. I also made a short diagram to show which region is next to which region. The Lizard Carriage can travel 1 square every 30 minutes while on road. Going off road increase the time. Hopefully, now the players would be able to tell how to get to what region much better and not have to ask me (Not that I mind. You can still ask if you need to).
As for sparring, both players roll Athletics or Acrobatics AND STR or DEX. Highest average wins.
Wolf Val comes earlier that day from one of his excursions in the woods and see Runt and Dev getting ready to fight themselves. He approaches and sits near Elsara to watch the match.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Once it becomes clear Runt wouldn't join after a while, Devarus gives her a sidelong look, then turns to his compatriots and gives them a nod. The chattering quickly but naturally pitters out as the mousy haired-halfling man, brawny old human man, and sleepy-eyed dwarven woman each gave one final salute before taking their leave. On the back of a heavy sigh, Devarus dons his shield and rapier and gestures over to the nearby training field.
"I won't lie, Miss Ruu. There was to be more to this then a mere spar. But, I understand more clearly now that in the future... I will need be more direct." He snaps into a guarded stance, but motions with his shield. "Come. Hit me with your best."He suggest, hoping to start strong by baiting Runt into poor footing following a deflection.
Horace rubs the back of his mane and says, "Ah yes... about that. You see, we don't exactly have any other members so..."
