Crowfoot the ranger has heard the wardens have need of someone to track down a wizard and he has come to offer his assistance. Taking the gold that is offered, he sets out to the shops to outfit himself for the task ahead. When he is done, he travels off to the keep. Once he arrives, he attempts to make it inside. (Polar bears)
The Polar Bear (42/42), rolls Charisma save DC 13 vs 0
The Polar Bear (Bane 10/10, 42/42), double moves up the Yellow Stairs and ends on W11
Junior lets off a guiding bolt at the beast and prepares to make his stand on O19, readying a scroll of Inflict Wounds.
Guiding Bolt
To-Hit: 4 + 5 + [roll]1d4[roll] (if the bless die from heroism is a 1/2 I'll have to think about if I want to use the inspiration, gonna wait on making that decision prior to rolling damage)
Used the inspiration.
Guiding Bolt: 2 +5
So that's a miss.
The Polar Bear (Bane 9/10, 42/42), double moves from W11 to O19
Atherna, the bugbear Wizard wielding a +1 rapier and protected only by armor of invisible force, approaches the polar bear (Encounter 2C) that she knows is at the Old Keep. Unlike her brother, who she has come to avenge, she makes use of her fey ancestry, her magically lightened steps making no sound despite her large form. She has learned from his brother's mistakes, and so prepares for the inevitable battle accordingly; earlier, she casted mage armor and rested well, and now she drinks a potion of heroism- a tactic that worked well for her brother (usually).
Stealth: 24 (19 + 5) Initiative: 20 (17 + 3)
(Considering the polar bear is literally incapable of rolling higher than either of those, I hope you don't mind me being a bit proactive and taking my two turns. Oh, and I forgot that she has an owl familiar as well. Owl's Initiative: 4 [3 + 1])
Springing into action as soon as she sees the oblivious target of her vengeance, Atherna flicks a gold coin into the air, which then shatters into three hypoallergenic missiles that whistle towards her foe. Unfortunately, the instability of the spell causes it to backfire, sending all of the missiles whistling right back towards their creator. Undeterred, she moves about the top of the wall, gliding along with such detail and precision that it almost looks like she's dancing. In the meantime, her owl swoops right in front of the bear's face, leaving its reach before it has a chance to attack.
Atherna's Turn: Action: Jim's magic missile: Nat 1, 3 force damage to Atherna Bonus Action: Bladesong Movement: Start at W14, move 40 feet to S19
Owl's Turn: Movement: Start at W9, fly 45 feet or so to be on R9, 10 feet above ground Action: Help, next attack against polar bear has advantage Movement: Fly 15 feet to be on P11, 15 feet above ground
Just as the polar bear starts to get wise to the situation, Atherna flicks another coin into the air and sends three gluten-free missiles whistling towards it, taking advantage of her owl's distraction.
Atherna's Turn: Action: Jim's magic missile
Missile 1: 12 (4,4 + 5 + 3) to hit, 10 (4 + 6) force damage Missile 2: 19 (10 + 5 + 4) to hit, 15 (4 + 11) force damage Missile 3: 22 (16 + 5 + 1) to hit, 8 (2 + 6) force damage Either the polar bear or the owl goes now, depends on the polar bear's initiative.
Apologies for the delays, let's go with the new character.
Polar Bear initiative: 16
The sad Polar Bear (12/42) double moves up the Yellow Ramp to get as close as possible
(I think that would bring it to W11?)
The annoying Owl (1/1) gives chase to the bear, attempting to distract it from the real threat that is the angry Bugbear (23/16). With the uttering of a word, the sound of bells tolling can be heard around the bear.
Owl's Turn: Movement: Fly 60 feet or so to V15, 40 feet above ground
Atherna's turn: Action: Toll the dead: DC 13 Wisdom save or 4 necrotic damage Movement: 35 feet to L1
>> Movement: 35 feet to L1 Didn't you start this turn on S19?
Wisdom Save DC 13 vs 2
Assuming you meant L19, The Polar Bear (8/42) double moves along the wall, starting W11, ending N19
Finally in melee range, Atherna's magical blade ripples with thunderous energy. Just as she prepares to reach her long arms out to strike, her owl flies over and perches atop the polar bear. This causes it to lean over and expose its neck, a prime opportunity which Atherna takes.
Owl's Turn: Movement: Fly 40 feet to N19 Action: Help, next attack against polar bear has advantage
Atherna's Turn: Action: Booming blade (rapier, +1): Nat 20 (19,20) to hit, 13 (5 + 4 + 3 + 1) piercing damage, 15 (7 + 8) thunder damage on movement (unless you rule that crits don't apply to the extra damage, in which case just 7)
The Polar Bear is pierced by Atherna's Rapier, falling with a fur dampened thud.
Short rest or rush to the cellar doors...
To the doors! I don't know if it makes sense, but Atherna will try to be sneaky. Feel free to ignore it.
Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

I'm sorry if I'm a PITA but the challenge is nail-biting and every roll is one for life or death of the character.
Don't worry about being a PITA, we are cut from the same cloth here!
Please double check my math here: Trap 1 piercing damage dropped dagger, draws rapier Damage: 4 again rapier Damage: 5 AoA 5 cold damage pelt rapier Damage: 9 AoA 5 cold damage ancestral rapier Damage: 4 Rime strikes at the tiger on his last legs, Attack: 17 Damage: 6 Total 39 damage
Can confirm that! That's exactly my count, too. With this the tiger should finally bite the dust. Much harder than I had expected. And just two more to come...

Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
