Erbert finishes translating and says to everyone, “I think that is about all that we’ll get out of this one. Should we tie him to a stalagmite? I think we should set him free if he’s told us the truth. If not…”. he casts a sullen glance at Bronk.
“Let’s go. I can put goblins to sleep if you’d like me to. I don’t like the sound of this Klarg fella. I agree that time is wasting away. Ready? Those hobgoblins are nasty armored fellows, aren’t they? Chadwick, Gneuman, Hoid - - probably going to need you up front..”
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
"Sounds good to me. I can stay at the back in case we get flanked. Maybe as part of his redemption, Bronk should scream if the other goblins show up from the west. Tell them to run for their lives, out of the cave, and far away. "

"Agreed. We need to be quick and deliberate. Those Hobgoblins are not to be taken lightly." "Ready when you are."
Post 923: I would like to propose that strategy again. We would still need to decide who gets the blessing. If Erbert can hit automatically (e.g., with magic missile) and Chadwick has a ranged weapon, then Chadwick, Trolkarl and Hoid should get the blessing from Kragen. Then all four should step into door, pick a common target and fire. The melee can step to the front. If either magic missile or Chadwick isn’t an option, figure out who gets the blessing
If this strategy isn’t acceptable, I suggest we have some me sort of plan instead of running in willy nilly.
Does Hoid think there was enough light for weak ass human eyes to pick out a target? Otherwise we could cast light on a rock and chuck in when we get ready to start shooting.

Measuring the map to determine the radius of the light from your shield and the depth of the visible part of the room, they are about the same. So unless the room is substantially bigger where we cannot see and the baddies are squeezed over in that unseen portion, it seems like your light stands a reasonable chance of illuminating the target.
The five goblins also had a fire. Stands to reason there could be a fire in this room too.
Hoid moves to look into the passage beyond and sees an enlarged cave. There are boxes, crates, barrels and sacks in piles along the wall he can see. A dim glow from a likely fire comes from the right, just out of vision. Nothing is moving.
The Light cast upon Chadwick’s shield is still in effect. Y’all have been interrogating Bronk for only a few minutes.
Erbert crouches down very low, watching and listening. A little self satisfied look comes over his face as an idea has clearly come into his head. He turns to the others and says in a low whisper, “Look, I can cast a minor illusion to trick them and cause them to come over to investigate. When they do and they walk in front of that opening, you fill them full of arrows, bolts, whatever. Then we rush in. Sound good?” Erbert looks for signs of agreement and if so, he proceeds with his plan.
If everyone agrees, he’ll cast a minor illusion (location of the sound is the blue circle on the map inside the room, 30 feet away) mimicking the sound of Bronk’s voice saying in broken elvish, “Hey boss, lookie here, when we gonna get paid you big piece of wolf dung!” After that he will ready a fire bolt to attack, waiting for someone to investigate.
I like where this is going since they are probably waiting for us to charge and they'll get the first shot. If we can get them to blow their surprise round on an illusion much better for us.
I was reading over the spell, think you could make an illusion of a gnome? That might draw more fire if it looked like Gneuman was charging in. Maybe get them to waste some spells too.
If we were doing this in person instead of by post, I would provide a lengthy dissertation about why I believe bringing the enemy to our position is giving up a substantial tactical advantage. I don’t want to type that much.
Hoid will wait where he is, sword ready for a target of opportunity.
Goblins start running out of the cave to attack. They are armed with scimitar and shield, wearing leather armor. Two move into attacking positions against Hoid. Erbert is ready with a Fire Bolt that flies wide of the first one out, To Hit = 10.
The goblins both attack Hoid, missing. To hit = 6, 11.
Looks like wolf has initiative next. If true, after the wolf is Kragen?
Kragen (crowd sourced): close to goblin 5 and crush skull with hammer unless wolf ends up closer, then attack wolf with a devastating blow to the thorax.
Also for Bronk: What other traps are in this cave?
“Bronk watch elves……(goblin language) forest,” he keeps furtively looking at the entrance by Hoid. “Only (pointing to the pools).”

Chadwick has a light crossbow +4/1d8+2

Moving south and east to allow line of sight to the opening
Ready action: Eldritch Blast
Trigger: Any obvious enemy that comes through the opening responding to the illusion

The goblins both attack Hoid, missing. To hit = 6, 11.
Gneuman is up.
Gneuman closes the distance and attacks goblin6.
10+5 = 15 Damage: 1+3 = 4
Unarmed strike to the head: CRIT 20+5 = 25 Damage: 2+3+3 = 8
Looks like wolf has initiative next. If true, after the wolf is Kragen?
Kragen (crowd sourced): close to goblin 5 and crush skull with hammer unless wolf ends up closer, then attack wolf with a devastating blow to the thorax.
Gneuman approaches the goblin and lands a combination attack. The goblin falls to the ground.
A large wolf then comes snarling out of the cave and attacks Hoid. Its steel jaws biting him through his armor. To hit = 22, Dam = 5.
Kragen fills in your battle line beside Hoid. He strikes out with his hammer at the wolf, but, it is too agile and dodges the blow. To hit = 10.
Hoid is up
Hoid takes a contrarian position and misses the wolf, allowing the wolf to use its own attacks to lead to its exhaustion.
Eldritch Blast target goblin 5
to hit 19. Damage 8
If no shot is available over wee folks. Will ready action to Eldritch blast if an opening is presented
