The SHADOW creature's attack saps life and strength out of the Drow Rogue.
XANTH slices into the SHADOW’s midst with his Glaive. The howl continues then fades to nothing as the SHADOW disappears.
GLYNT can save his Fairy Fire. (I rolled the Shadows DEX, but Bix's Sneak Damage along with Xanth's hit was enough to take out this low hit point undead before Glynt could cast his Fairy Fire.)
RAGDOR asks for and receives divine healing.
VICTORY? Sort of....
(I put an image of the Shadow from the Stat Block on the map. It is not an image that would make a good token, but it shows the horror of this thing. Very creepy. As an aside, this thing was apparently just wandering around and lucky, or rather unlucky, the party came across it.)
Ragdor goes to Bix, aye missy, you need to rest, let me have a look at ya, 17 medicine roll, not a lot I can do short of casting a healing spell, Glynt's music softly starts playing, let's have another look after a short rest and our friend here sings us a little pub ditty. He sets beside he, pulling out some travel rations and a flask of Stone Talon whiskey to share with his friends.
Bixs, sets while the dwarf looks her over, listening to him as he does. She takes the flask when offered and lays her head down on her pack. Before too long she falls into the trance state that passes for sleep to an elf.
Bixs stands up and stretches, oh yeah, that feels much better now. Looking at Xanth, I don't think we did. She starts making her way around the room, perception roll 20+1=21
Ragdor's eyes pop open, I'm awake, I'm awake he sets up with a gruff. Whips drool from the corner of his beard, yeah missy you have a look there, I'll pack up.
BIX will find a loose stone low on the wall behind the statue. Using one of her daggers she carefully removes the stone. She finds a bag hiding behind the loose stone.
"Wait just a second." Before she grabs the bag. Xanth will use Magic Awareness.
As an action, you can open your awareness to the presence of concentrated magic. Until the end of your next turn, you know the location of any spell or magic item within 60 ft. of you that isn’t behind total cover. When you sense a spell, you learn which school of magic it belongs to.

ROUND ONE
BIX misses with her rapier but doesn’t miss with Portia’s Wrath. The Sneak Attack was particularly lethal with this magical blade.
This whisp of a being lets out a horrible though nearly inaudible howl. It turns toward BIX and attacks.
SHADOW ATTACK on BIX 24 9 Necrotic on a hit plus 1 STR Damage

seeing the shadow form fade Bix sets down, I don't feel so good guys. ((will my STR point return after a rest or ?))
(Yes. Your character will need to take at least a Short Rest to recover the lost Strength.)
(BTW - What does the party do next?)
"I think we should investigate this room, I wonder if that thing was protecting something important."
Meanwhile Glynt will move to the far corner and train his bow on the unopened door in case anything heard the disturbance. (Map updated).
"I agree we should also take a moment for them to regain their strength."
Xanth will aid the search anyway he can and will ask for guidance to be granted.
"I think after we have checked out this room we need to head back to our hiding hole and rest up as Ragdor looks pretty ragged after that fight."
When we are resting I can use my "Song of Rest" to give an extra 1d6 to anyone using a Hit Dice.

(The party can take a Short Rest in the room with the Shadow without any interruptions.)
(What does the party do next?)
Have we searched the room?

Bix gently pulls the bag from its hidy hole, well, what have we here? She cautiously opens the bag and peeks in.

XANTH will detect magic on the bag itself. In addition, the tile and statue give off an aura of transmutation.
ERKY will read the "draconic" script on the floor tile, "It says, '“Let the sorcerous power illuminate my spirit.”
