Oriace considers Mana’s suggestion quickly and nods, his voice appearing in Mana's mind. "Good idea, Mana. Let's get ahead of him before anything happens." He then communicates telepathically to the others, "Mana and I will take a shortcut to get ahead. Sterling, Toser—stay on his tail but keep your distance. We’ll catch him from both sides if something goes wrong." Trusting in Mana’s knowledge of the area, Oriace follows stealthily, moving quietly through the shadows, relying on Mana to guide them without losing track of their target.

Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
Sterling merely nodded at the others while pointing in the half-elf's direction, then attempted to discretely follow.
(( He'll be using Prestidigitation and/or Minor Illusion to keep his clothing dark, and hide any shiny baubles on his outfit. Would that be enough to warrant a stealth check with advantage? ))
Presdigitation has a verbal component so would cancel out the camouflage effect. Minor illusion I would allow advantage (but it just lasts one minute)

Perhaps both. An illusion to have a dog bark in a side alley and then cast Prestidigitation during the noise, just an idea. He mentioned being predisposed to cast both.

Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
That works. I was thinking you meant both to really make the clothes dark (as Presdigitation is only small areas)
I need everyone to make a perception check (and feel free to do an initiative roll too. But if you don't, I'll do one for you when I resolve it all. After the first round I'll do my normal everyone in any order but for this first round it could make a big difference who goes before and who goes after the enemy)

So.... Sterling and Toser both see a cloaked figure with a shortsword drawn, who seems focussed on his quarry and hasn't noticed any of you.
Luckily, Sterling just about goes before the figure which means that he can alert everyone.
Everyone except Toser is up. You are all about 20-30ft away from the enemy, just on opposing sides (unless you explicitly were trying to be a set distance away and then you can be)
The thug was quite clearly being threatening. If Sterling hadn't made an alert (assuming he does make an alert that is) the figure would have swung his sword (clearly getting ready to attack). And yes, the perp does know Undercommon (victim does not)
(Based on the clear and present danger to the pedestrian, Mana will NOT consider that the attacker was just an eccentric out for an evening stroll with a drawn shortsword. Likewise, he will NOT hold up his hand to keep Oriace from darting into melee, should he choose to do so. He will however, still hold up in the shadows and will hiss out the insult in Undercommon. He hopes the minor psychic shock will cause the attacker to hesitate and give us the time to rescue his target.)
Upon hearing Sterling’s alert and seeing the imminent danger, Oriace doesn’t hesitate. He darts out of the shadows, his movements swift and fluid as he closes the distance between himself and the attacker. His eyes lock onto the figure with the drawn shortsword, who is clearly preparing to strike.
As he rushes forward, Oriace draws his rapier, the steel glinting in the dim light. With precise aim, he intercepts the assailant, thrusting his blade forward in an attempt to disable the threat before the half-elf can be harmed.
"We won't let you take another life tonight!" Oriace growls as he strikes, his movements fueled by both urgency and determination to protect the innocent.
Action: attack with rapier, hit (16, or 12 if with disadvantage) for 11 piercing damage.

The figure, which you can all now see is a drow with a scar down one side of his face, stops and his attention shifts from his prey to the new threat. He seems confident enough when he looks around at you. He takes a step back looking with shock and a little pain (failed save) at Mana, but easily slips free of Wagner (24 acrobatics - crit). Sterling tries to attack and just manages to slip through the cracks. The drow curses and reaches for his shield (which would have made the difference, but he didn't need it for stalking).
After equipping his shield, he swings twice at Oriace. 23to hit, for 5damage. Followed by 14to just miss.
Everyone is up (if turn order matters, Toser would be first)
From the shadows, Mana sees the bravery of his friends. And wishes he were so bold in battle. Maybe, someday. But for now, he assesses the situation from a bit of range. He takes in the positioning of the half-elf target. Are they good and protected by the team encircling the perpetrator? A Sleep spell is no good because he might put some of his party to sleep. He quickly glances around to see if the attacker has accomplices. He notices the attempted grapple by Wagner and, in a flash, knows what he’ll try.
Bonus Action: Bardic Inspiration for Wagner (+1d6 once in next 10 minutes to a check, attack, or save).
Action: Bane on the Drow (DC 14 CHA or -1d4 to all attacks and saving throws for 1 minute or loss of concentration).
(If there are perceived accomplices within 30’, Mana will add up to two of them to the Bane spell.)

He then speedily darts ahead expecting Oriace to keep up.

Mana heeds the alert from Sterling and stops in the shadows, holding up his hand silently, to stop Oriace before we reveal ourselves.
Do we dare attack before we know this is a threat? He thinks to himself.
He takes the Ready action to cast Vicious Mockery to trigger if the thug advances threateningly.
Should the trigger be met Mana squeaks out a hissing curse from the shadows loud enough for the perpetrator to hear.
”Dos tah saph natha har’ol leith.”
The voice sounds goblinoid but the language is indeterminate. (If anyone, including the perp or victim, knows Undercommon, I will translate.)
DC 14 Wis or 1 psychic damage and disadvantage on their next attack roll. (Rolled in game log)
