"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
The giant, bony worm opens its maw and draws in air with such force, that even from where Eirikur stands, his hair is pulled forward in front of him. He feels a siren of alarm in his chest as Gaelen and Modoc are in melee with it and fighting against much greater gale forces, but it passes quickly as he watches his friends resist the vacuum. Gaelen crouches low against the pull and seems to get under the wind, while Modoc stands firm against it like an ancient oak tree. Then at once they renew their attacks.
Eirikur whispers a prayer of thanks to a god he no longer believes in and repeats his casting with a gesture and divine utterance. Necrotic energy flows through him and escapes from the esoteric holes in his soul, rising from his skin as sickly green light, looking very much like steam evaporating.
OOC: Wis Save of 14 or 9 necrotic damage.
Realizing that he had initially drawn the creature's attention, Eirikur will continue to walk laterally, away from the engine car and now, away from the passenger car toward the freight car. Since Modoc and Gaelen have its attention, he holds off on trying to draw the bony worm's attention again. Instead, waiting to see how it will behave now that its attempt to eat them has failed.

Hylizatha flicks the cylinder of her revolver open, taking out the empty shells before reloading it. Once it is reloaded she takes a single shot at the worm, keeping back after seeing what it had done with Gaelen and Modoc.
If one creature wants to jump onto another creature, it can do so by grappling. A Small or Medium creature has little chance of making a successful grapple against a Huge or Gargantuan creature, however, unless magic has granted the grappler supernatural might.
As an alternative, a suitably large opponent can be treated as terrain for the purpose of jumping onto its back or clinging to a limb. After making any ability checks necessary to get into position and onto the larger creature, the smaller creature uses its action to make a Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check contested by the target’s Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. If it wins the contest, the smaller creature successfully moves into the target creature’s space and clings to its body. While in the target’s space, the smaller creature moves with the target and has advantage on attack rolls against it.
The smaller creature can move around within the larger creature’s space, treating the space as difficult terrain. The larger creature’s ability to attack the smaller creature depends on the smaller creature’s location, and is left to your discretion. The larger creature can dislodge the smaller creature as an action—knocking it off, scraping it against a wall, or grabbing and throwing it—by making a Strength (Athletics) check contested by the smaller creature’s Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. The smaller creature chooses which ability to use.

Not sure why it rerolled, but I think the first was a 13 to hit, for 11 damage and the second was a dirty twenty for 10 damage.

Modoc takes the first hit and just saves against the second. His rage protects him further against the bones.
He'll swing back at the creature.

Looks like one hit and one miss.
OOC: You should still have one attack left. You can try again or do the normal punchy thing.
