He will look to see how Santa's skin (?) -- or is it 'just' sitting on his clothed chest (?) -- looking at the interface between the scarab gem and Santa. Cut it 'out' of his skin or pry it off his chest somehow.
(( OOC: Yes, I know MEDICINE does not give tons of medical knowledge and skill << >> allows you to diagnose an illness, or determine what killed the recently slain. << >> but was kind of hoping it would be enough for basic first aid & analysis of the situation ))
Grey will grab the maple shortbread cookie and take a bit.
Assuming Santa doesn't mind, he'll try to mend the scarab. If nothing happens, he'll try to Detect Magic on the scarab, and Santa for that matter, hoping to learn what school of magic it is and anything else useful!
The scarab has Abjuration magic, Saint Nickolas has no magic. You can see a flicker of every magic in him but threads of it are being drawn into the scarab.

The Wiz then begins a Ritual casting of Augury to ask the outcome of attempting to cast Shatter at 3rd level on the area St. Nick is standing in, using Sculpt Spells to make everyone in the room immune to damage except the beetle.
"I currently do not have Augury ready to cast. What I do have is Revivify ready. What do you think Santa? we could kill you.. hear me out.. remove the beetle, and then I could bring you back from the dead!"

You can see that the scarab has dug it's lags into the WInter Lord's chest. The wound looks raw and possibly infected.
