Brekka props himself onto an elbow and coughs in pain at his wounds. But the fight is not over and his companions are still in danger. He hauls himself to his feet. Though he sees Torban in a bad way next to him, he trusts the others to help their guide. Instead, he focuses on trying to end this battle once and for all. From behind his shield, he strikes out with a powerful swipe of his blade. As it cuts into the demon's flesh, a glow flashes in Brekka's sword hand. The glow suffuses into the sword until it erupts in a bright white flame that travels down the blade and into the demon's wound.
Action: Longsword attack with Bonus Action Divine Smite. Attack: 19. Damage: 7 slashing and 17 radiant.
The burst of radiant energy causes the demon to explode violently, even causing the smoke the other's passing briefly created get wiped away.
You all hear a raspy voice coming from the spire... "You'll find more than that if you proceed... you'll be sacrificed, killed or used for warnings like the last meddlers..."
Combat is over, you stabilize Torban easily, but he is still unconscious.

Mathias goes over to Torban's prone form, lifts the guide's head and places one of his magical berries into Torban's mouth.
Hearing the rasping voice, the druid looks in the direction of the spire to see if the voice came from the spire itself or the unfortunate hanging from it.
[[Started the day with 10, distributed 5 to the party, still had 5 on me, 4 remain and Torban is healed 1 HP.]]
With Torban tended, Arista shoulders her staff and moves to the base of the spire. A soft murmur in Giant unleashes a pulse of earth-magic: the ground parts in two neat pits (using Mold Earth), each about five feet deep. She lowers the battered bodies—one flesh, one bare bone—into the hollows with a soldier’s care, arranging ragged cloaks over what remains. Straightening, she plants the staff butt beside the graves and glances round the circle of companions. “If anyone would speak for them, do it now,” she says, voice low but steady; whether prayer or simple farewell, she’ll wait a moment for words before sealing the earth and smoothing it flat, leaving only two fresh mounds where the warnings once hung.
Torban wakes up, and is pretty beaten up. He stands, weakly, and says, "Thanks, I thought I was a goner there for a second." He rustles around in his pack and takes some loose clothing to poorly replace the charred gambeson under his armor. "That'll do for now," he says.
You don't see any other possesions on the bodies other than their distinctly foreign clothing styles. The skeleton, probably a human male, is wearing what must have been a cloth armor underlayer, and the fresh body is a genasi woman in robes. The genasi had her throat slit.

"Me, too,"Brekka says with a hearty clap on Torban's back. The movement evokes a wince of pain as one of his wounds is pulled. "But we made it through," he says, his teeth gritted against the pain.
As Kaelan inspects the bodies, Brekka asks, "Anything to identify them? So when we can report back we can show some proof?"
[[That's clear to me. I'm just curious if there's something we can take back to show that we did find them, so it's more than just our word saying we did. Maybe we could take one of the distinctive pieces of clothing.]]
"I think it is more respectful to leave them with what little they have left. These people were outsiders, no one at town is left wondering about their fate enough to need closure so proof isn't required. Our word should be enough." Asariel will take a final look around the tower, especially at trying to find where the speaking came from, and then he is ready to continue
Kaelen shakes his head at Brekka's question. "Nothing substantial, but it's clear these are the members of the last expedition. I'll add their location and fate to our report. It's the best we can do, given the circumstances." He pauses to frown up at the pillar before shifting his gaze ahead.
Wyntarvox: Nothing is really distinctive based on Kaelen's investigation of the bodies. If you are truly curious, you could try getting Brekka's hands dirty and having him investigating himself, maybe you can roll higher than 10.

"If you say so," Brekka says with a shrug of his broad shoulders.
He ambles over to Torban and grips the man's shoulder with a firm hand.
"Well fought, but you need a break. Let's find somewhere we can tend to Torban's wounds," he says. It is lost on him that he also looks worse for wear. A dark slash mars the scales of his neck where one of the creatures attacked him.
When the graves are sealed, Arista turns back to the black stones, running frost-scarred fingers over the rusty runes. “If this pillar serves as an alarm, leaving it intact only warns whoever butchered those two that we’re still alive,” she mutters. Crouching, she probes for any keystone sigil—an anchoring glyph or repeated pattern Mathias identified—and then sets to work physically scarring the carvings: scoring shallow channels across them with the iron shod of her staff and packing the grooves with wet clay and gravel. “If the spell’s anchored to the symbols themselves,” she explains over her shoulder. “Perhaps, if we erase enough lines, the magic unravels?”(Arcana 11)
[[Brekka has 1 failed Death Save.]]
Seeing Brekka fall, Mathias utters a word that partially revives the dragonborn, before firing off another starry wisp.
[[Bonus Action: Healing Word for 8 healing to Brekka, Magic Action: Starry Wisp AC 11 for a potential 5 radiant damage.]]
Mathias's cantrip goes wide and the single demon remains.
Torban fails a death saving throw.

Asariel looks at both Torben and Brekka being down, and has to pick between the two of them.
As Mathias healed Breakka, he heals Torban, shouting some healing words for 8 points of healing.
He then fires a crossbow at the remaining one but misses (12)

Mathias's heroically tries to heal Torban's wounds but as soon as they are healed, the fiery magic kicks off again, knocking Torban unconscious again.
A horrifying grin passes over the demons face as it reaches down to finish the fighter.
