Kaelen's shot clips the Peryton's antlers, causing no damage, while Asariel's bolt scrapes a gash in its body.

Just want to hear from Brekka and Mathias, although Mathias might just be re-readying starry wisp.

Brekka steps forward beside Kaelen, preparing to grab the avian assailant if it comes to strike the bowman.

Arista's sorcerous burst misses, while Mathias's starry wisp damages the diving abomination. It is about 40 feet from Arista, up in the air.

You all are up. Please confirm, (if you don't mind) where you are standing, in general terms. (Next to Arista, outside the cave, inside the cave)

Torban is next to Arista, still readying a strike.

(Kaelen is 10 feet outside of the cave.)

The ranger marks the remaining Peryton now that it is in range and fires another arrow, hoping to bring it down before it can make an attack.

The peryton is greatly hurt by that strike and looks like it is changing its flight angle, possibly turning to flee.

Mathias, still standing at the cave mouth, fires off another starry wisp as the seemingly fleeing peryton.

Hits but does not bring it down.

Brekka quickly pulls a spear from its position on his back and hurls it up toward the creature, but it sails harmlessly by.

"Ugh!" he grumbles frustratedly.

Arista and Asariel take the dodge action as the peryton wheels to the northeast and flies away. It is at 160 ft. away and fleeing.

Kaelen moves 30 ft towards the northeast and attempts a last shot at the creature.

Action: longbow to hit 26, damage 10

The peryton falls to the ground, dead.

Asariel starts to head towards the site of the original attack to check on those originally attacked now that the perytons should know not to mess with us. 

Kaelen follows Asariel.

Mathias follows along as well, on the remotest of chances that either of the peryton's victims still live. 

"Those were some mighty shots, Kaelen!" Brekka grunts, obviously impressed, as his heavy footfalls fall in with the group.

Kaelen gives a simple nod of thanks at the compliment. "It is what I do. I trust you can take care of any that manage to get close."

Arista plants herself at the cave mouth beside the wagon, shield high and staff braced across her knee. She keeps an eye on the dark sky and the fallen Peryton’s direction, guarding the mules and supplies while the others pick through the distant aftermath.

Torban stays back with Arista.

It takes a few minutes to reach the path, where there are two dead bodies, both human, on closer inspection, one male, one female. wearing nondescript travelers' outfits, and their chests have been ripped open.

Brekka approaches the corpses warily, his eyes trained on the sky in case the avian hunter should return for a second chance.

"Do they have anything identifiable on them? Are they from Threshold? Or the keep?"
