Hi all, I'm looking to recruit a handful of players for one of my ongoing campaigns called The 100 Dungeons Of The Blood Archivist, which has played on this forum for about a year now, however please do not let the current playtime dissuade you from applying! The campaign progression is extremely linear, and as the DM I will be taking full responsibility to catch new players up to speed on the events that have transpired so far with a breakdown of the plot, which I can assure you is not as much as you might fear, seeing as the party has just reached the eleventh of the 100 Dungeons that they're travelling through.
A Few Things You Should Know - The basic plot of this campaign is that the party is travelling through a magical network of unique and challenging dungeons created by the enigmatic Blood Archivist, and lends itself to players interested in dungeon exploration, diverse combat, and roleplay. Character development is set to be a core part of this campaign, so if you enjoy building characters with stories that tie into the world or develop as the story goes on, this is a perfect choice for you! - This campaign is set to run for quite a while. Whilst I can't put my finger on an exact estimate, I would set 5 years as a general starting point. The further we progress, the more defined that timeline will become, however we are planning to utilise story devices like time skips of varying lengths every so often to help us progress further through the campaign to make the overall runtime more manageable for all involved. That said, if you choose to apply please be aware that it will be a long quest ahead, and be happy to commit to that, as this will be the final time I recruit new members to the party, i.e. if you're applying now, you're happy to stick it out to the end provided you can. To slightly mitigate the long runtime, I am very lax with post rates and do not mind at all if you take extended breaks within our journey, as long as fair warning is given! - Our current party is at Level 5 and consists of a Gnome Monk, Tiefling Sorcerer, Dragonborn Paladin and a Drow Warlock. We don't have content sharing enabled so please take that into consideration when making your character, though I am sure we would all be incredibly grateful if anyone could offer it!
So, if you're interested in a long-term campaign rich with battles, loot and lore, please post a Level 5 character sheet if you have one (Either 2014 or 2024 rules), and/or your character's core stats (any method, if you choose to roll for them, reroll ones once) and their race, class, subclass, backstory, plus any other additional information you'd like to include like a physical description, image, alignment or personality. I'm more than happy to answer any questions anybody has and will be leaving this thread up all week to hopefully pick some players at the weekend!
You can find the campaign thread here if you're interested in giving it a look!
I love roleplay intensive campaigns! Are you looking for a specific role? Healer, frontliner, etc? I may be Artificer, Rogue, or Druid, depending on your needs.
Bouncer is your standard, run-of-the-mill artificer; likes heavy weaponry, cannons, pistols, the like. Plus grenades, of course. While he seems harsh and aggressive on the outside, he really does love companionship and having a place, which he lacked in his homeland; Harenville, a place where only the tamest of harengons made a life. He, sadly, didn't fit the bill, with his love of weaponry and invention. Most people just avoided him. He got bitter. He left his village, leaving all his regrets, if he had any in the first place, behind. He enlisted in the military, where people learned to fear the small bouncy boom bunny; however, he had respect there. Other soldiers befriended him, and he slowly came out of from under all the artillery where he used to hide.
He had been fighting in the military for 5 years when he encountered a devastating foe. It was a fearful necromancer, who decimated the entire unit. Even worse, those he felled rose again as minions of the Enemy. Many a good soldier died that day all but Bouncer... and the Enemy. He fought back desperately, even pushing the Enemy back to the throes of death, but the Enemy opened a Gate that transported him to the dungeon. He took out a lot of anger on the denizens of the dungeon, but it didn't fill the hole from the crippling sense of loneliness he felt. Eventually, he went in search of companions, bringing him here. And although he kept his harsh tongue, he is secretly relieved to have another group to belong to-- who, in time, he may call family.
5 Artillerist Artificer (May possibly multiclass into Fighter later should it be needed)
Harengon
Soldier
This character will probably be using Renaissance weaponry, would that be okay?
I'd be able to post generally daily, though I'd be less active during breaks and weekends.

Name: Thamul Valu-Nathala Race: Goliath (Frost) Class: Fighter 1/Hunter Ranger 4 (not sure about full progression going forward.) Background: Soldier Backstory: Thamul grew up in the cold mountains and was thought to fight from a young age. Before he even started training it was clear he was really good at axe throwing games (can we reflavor darts?:P). And when he started to train to become a soldier for his clan he therefore went to perfect that craft. his skills with throwing where also very usefull during hunting for food. Unfortunately his tribe was attacked by the giant nearby when he was on one of these hunts. He came back and all and everyone was gone, which is why he decided to leave the mountains to find a new purpose, and maybe a new tribe. He hunted and travelled to the lands to eventually find a notice about the dungeons created by the Blood Archivist, which sounde like a great challenge, and thus he travelled further to the entrance, which is why he is here now to hunt in the dungeons whatever monsters are out there.
Focus: This character is gonna be all about throwing his weapons, Ideally Ill have a quiver of Ehlonna to explain the amount of weapons on him; although carrying capacity isn't an issue either^^.
About me: I've been playing almost daily for multiple years, so committing for multiple years isn't an issue either.

I understand the desire to make a dart thrower. However you might want to stay with axes or hammers or daggers. With axes, hammers, and daggers you can dual wield and one of them will give you Nick allowing both throws with your Attack Action. You can't do that with darts.
Are you looking for a specific role? Healer, frontliner, etc? I may be Artificer, Rogue, or Druid, depending on your needs.
Nope, not particularly at all. The party is pretty balanced at the moment, so I'm not too worried about classes and I'm more focussing on the character's backstories/appearance and commitment levels when recruiting, since that's most important!

I could look at reflavouring darts to be axes, however I agree with Wysperra that having a set of regular handaxes or daggers reflavoured as throwing angels/tomahawks would probably better suit your needs and be a lot more powerful. It's up to you though, that's just my view of things.
Also @Wysperra, I don't know whether this was coincidence or because you'd looked at the campaign (although this detail is pretty buried so you'd have to have given the thread a long read to find it!) but I find it very interesting that you've chosen Tortle as your character's race, as they're actually very relevant in the lore of the campaign. One of the major of plot points in the campaign is about the Turtle Of Tyraa (Tyraa being the isolated nation that this campaign takes place in), which is an ancient myth very similar to the World Turtle belief IRL, and because of this myth, Tortles are seen in a similar respect to dragonborns and aasimars as being the descendants of one of the earliest deities. This also comes with an alteration to the RAW lifespan for Tortles; instead of living for 100 years, Tortles can live about as long as elves, but physically age much quicker, so most Tortles after the age of 300 look very old even if they have a 100 years of life still left to live.

I actually didn't mean the weapon darts but the game Darts that I could choose to be proficient in at Background (I understand that wasn't very clear^^). Weapons are indeed gonna be handaxes and the other Strength based throwing weapons.

I think the fact that it’s been running a year is actually really appealing to me (and clearly others), and it sounds like a well run PbP. I like the role play angle, a dungeon crawl, and I’ve been keen to play in something where it can be upper tier 1+ with the new PHB. Can offer content sharing as it’s wanted.
As you’re well balanced, I hope you wouldn’t mind if I offered a sorcerer 1/warlock 4, considering you’ve one of each already. I think they’re both classes with a lot of variability, and it might be quite fun to have two pact magic users with short rests, and different patrons and invocations.
Hello, I will be honest and say that I am new to D&D, I have wanted to play for a long time and have run a few games of Pathfinder with some friends but nothing big, I do have a gunslinger character (some parts are homebrewed due to money) but I am willing to work to make him fit. He is a Fighter 5, Subclass Gunslinger and I have a character sheet that I can link below. Thank you for taking a look.

Class: Sorcerer 1 / Warlock (Pact of the Celestial) 4 (2024)
Background: Acolyte
Progression would be Warlock going forward, never getting meta magic, but more to represent that she was born under a celestial sign, (and some sweet Con Saving throw proficiency, also.)
Backstory:
It has been 158 years since the last Monarch was slew. It has been 50 years since her grandfather entrusted her father to the care of the Secret Chapel of the Sanguine Sphinx. It has been less than a month since Mun was initiated into the order of the Seekers, and learnt the higher mysteries of her faith — of the prophecy of the Sphinxes and the curse of the Blood Archivist.
It is the belief of her church that for a new Monarch to be crowned and for the Blood Archivist’s record to be filled and concluded, they must be accompanied by a Seeker, to shepherd them into their fate, and to anoint them at the promised time.
To be a seeker is one of the highest honours, most exclusive privileges, and most sober duties her sect can bestow. She will be one of the rare few who venture beyond their valley. There is no expectation that she will ever return, as no other has before her.
Seeker Mun accepts her duty. Pays homage to her creed, and has sought many words of powers and invocations within the word of her chapel’s ancient Sphinx prophet. And yet…
Her heart is not as pure in seeking as it ought to be. Why should the Seeker not be monarch. Why should she not be glorified? Guilty though the thought is, her dreams are filled with visions not of crowning but of being crowned.
As you’re well balanced, I hope you wouldn’t mind if I offered a sorcerer 1/warlock 4, considering you’ve one of each already. I think they’re both classes with a lot of variability, and it might be quite fun to have two pact magic users with short rests, and different patrons and invocations.
Hey, glad you're interested! Personally I don't mind too much about having an additional warlock on board, especially as you've gone Celestial since that's some extra variation, though I'll have to consult the party on whether they're happy to have a duplicate class in the party. If they're unsure about it, do you think you would be able to switch to a full Sorcerer/full Cleric, even a Sorcerer/Cleric multiclass or whatever else you best think could fit the character? I'm really hoping that isn't a dealbreaker for you seeing as you seem invested in the build of the character, however your backstory is incredibly intriguing and I'd hate to lose such a great submission. Let me know your thoughts and I'll get back to you with the current party verdict, I'm willing to work with you to figure it all out!
I actually didn't mean the weapon darts but the game Darts that I could choose to be proficient in at Background (I understand that wasn't very clear^^). Weapons are indeed gonna be handaxes and the other Strength based throwing weapons.
Ohh, my mistake, in that case yeah no worries at all!
Yeah. With the 2024 difference as well, if they’re happy to have another warlock who enjoys short rest walks on the beach, and invocations by candlelight, then great. Otherwise, if not, I’d be happy to reconfigure the character into a 2024 cleric.

Name: Seeker Mun
Race: Aasimar
