Origins backstory (Where were they born and raised): Originally from the Moonshae Isles, Caragh Byrne had attended a bardic college in Callidyr before traveling to the mainland where she initially met the others that she traveled with for a time. She had been born just outside the city and was one of the Ffolk. Her parents were well-off merchants, and they cared for her deeply. However, their travels did take them away from their only daughter quite a bit. She was very sad when the ship they were on sank, leaving Caragh in the care of her parents’ business associates for a couple of years. The money they left though paid her way into a very fine bardic college in Callidyr.
Recent history: When the group went their separate ways, she returned to the Monshae Islands. She had lost track of a friend of hers when she was a child and really wanted to find her. She was caught up in something and punished more harshly than she should have, and she has always wanted to find her again. During her search she spent some time working with a traveling show. It both provided her with some coin and with the means to travel about the area.
More Origin Details:
The above history is not actually true. Except for the part about attending a bardic college and heading to the mainland. The truth is that she was born as Róisín to a very young mother in the town of Horstall on the island of Gwynneth. There was no sign of the father, and she was soon abandoned to an orphanage. All she really knew of her mother was a name: Caitrín Friel.
At the orphanage, she had a close friend named Aibhilín. The two were nearly the same age and both tended to work together. They did everything together, sharing all their secrets. The orphanage was dedicated to the Earthmother and the two shared in those beliefs. In fact, it seemed Aibhilín was destined to become a druid herself one day. While still quite young, the pair would sneak out to the city and Róisín ended up pulling them into running con games. Eventually, the true cons made sure they got caught. Aibhilín was harshly punished while Róisín talked her way out of it.
The led to Róisín leaving the orphanage. And when she realized they were coming after her she joined a traveling carnival and changed her name to Brennah Tíghearnaigh. For around 6 years she was a part of Baron Fox’s Carnival of Curiosity. She started as an acrobat and sometimes played music and danced. But she also became a part of the cons going on amidst the carnival - their true source of income. She learned a lot while there.
Eventually though, authorities appear to have become aware of her criminal activities. She suspects another girl tipped them off because the girl's boyfriend had become enamored with Brennah. She never found out for sure, because she knew it was time to move on.
Luckily, she had overheard a young man at the carnival talk about his family paying his way to go to a school in Callidyr but he was going to take up a life at sea. Using her forgery skills, she was able to get the funds transferred to a Caragh Byrne, then forged the right papers to identify herself as Caragh Byrne. And so, she attended the bardic school under her new name. And it turns out she was quite talented at it and completed her studies before anyone was the wiser.
But not pressing her luck, she made for the mainland, hoping for a fresh start.
More Recent History:
In addition to having looked for Aibhilín, over the years she was wondered about what might have happened to her mother. And who her father might be. She wouldn't tell anyone, since her story is her wonderful family was lost at sea. But she is curious.
Arthur “the unbroken” Penhaligon is a human farmer turned prize fighter. When the party last saw him he was at the top of his game fighting in the Cormyrean prize rings. But in the 2 years since then he has suffered a series of high profile losses that led him to “find god”. Not to seek forgiveness or absolution, or inner peace, but to get his edge back. Never willing to accept defeat, Arthur is now a devout follower of Mask (hiding it of course) using divine magic to gain an advantage in an otherwise fair fight.
Cocky, arrogant and devoid of moral character, Arthur is reuniting with the old crew to relive his glory days.

Origins backstory (Where were they born and raised): Laine couldn’t remember anything about her past. The name of her birth town, her birth family, the world she’s accustomed to… nothing. The only thing she remembers is how she narrowly escaped with her wolf partner after fleeing what he called a ‘dying star’, aka an explosion that wiped out her hometown and every person along with it. Though the two survived the ordeal, everyone else whom she loved dearly did not, which in turn, led her to losing her memories of everything she held dear… almost.
Recent History: Since then, after five years of slow adjustments, Laine is living a second life with her partner in the heart of Waterdeep, either preaching to her deities in solitude or selflessly tending the wounds of both the ill and the gravely injured from time to time whilst her super ambitious partner works somewhere else outside the city… somewhere where he wouldn’t tell her probably, at least from her perspective. However, something in the city, or at least, her new home, feels off. Things she cannot explain… are affecting her mentally; Memories of her past are in fact slowly coming together and are fuelling her desires to unravel them, piece by piece. Something is calling her to unravel the background, to unravel the unknown: something she clearly doesn’t enjoy. But to do so, Laine knows she needs people to join with. These days though her partner has been busy with his duties so she knows he can’t come with her; Thing is, the thought of adventuring after settling into her current life unnerves her slightly, not to mention that her poor social skills are incredibly notable, but she hopes to find one to help her with this burning desire: one that would slowly reignite this ambition to uncover and reclaim her lost memories about the destruction of her hometown, who was behind all of this and most of all, overcome her grief, her sorrow… and reclaim the will to protect… and to uphold.

I'd like to incorporate an Eldritch Knight, with a Scribe Background. With the Skilled feat, and a combo of tools, I'd like to be crafting potions, a few, limited scrolls, and such. I like the idea of a somewhat brainy Fighter (Dex based). He knows he isn't as strong as other (Strength) warriors (most other Fighters, non Dexadins, etc). He also is aware that he's not as well-versed as a full caster. But, he's put in the time, to learn to be the best he can, at both, and can add some extra utility, crafting himself, or assisting any other casters who craft. I figure the consumables won't be too game breaking, have a limit to how often they can be used, and when they are used in-game, they cane be for epic encounters, in or out of combat. The uncommon Headband of Intellect would help with that, but I think the background with origin feat, would work well enough, if not. Let me know if this is a concept you would be ok with.
For those that join, would you be able to share content? I like using custom origin, but that's not an option for free members. Otherwise, I can just use human.

I was briefly looking at, and considering the 2024 Bannerette, but with the limits of most subclass features being once per S/LR, I didn't see the point to have a high CH fighter, without some big changes to it...or modifying it to a Commander from Nimble (5E), which focuses on a lot of repositioning, free turns for allies, etc. Since I'm assuming not doing something like that, I'm using point buy...and for some reason, I had to roll 3x, because it kept giving me "dice roll error," or some such.
Which brings me to my original question: would a Fighter as a Scribe, crafting some magic items, or helping to craft, be something viable. That there's "no rush" would be fine, to allow for the time for making potions, crafting scrolls, etc.
With that, assuming that I wouldn't get a Headband of Intellect: 12, 14, 14, 14, 10, 8. From Scribe, I would +2 to dex, and +1 to Int: 12, 16, 14, 15, 10, 8.

"Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere." ~ Albert Einstein
So I have 2 character ideas, both with sort of a nature theme:
1. An Oath of the Ancients Paladin with the guide background. They were born up north closer to the Ice Spires. For species I'd like to visualize a half-elf (elf or human) male born to a wandering family. I picture him being silent, strong type who is very intune with nature. The last few years he's begun to travel to more civilized areas like Waterdeep to work as a mercenary or convoy for any wandering travelers or the Emerald enclave.
2. A college of the moon bard from Baldur's Gate with the sage background. This character is a female tiefling that I visualize being an astronomer who has traveled between Candlekeep, Baldur's Gate, Waterdeep, nd even the Moonshae Isles at one point for their studies of the moon and stars and to incorporate her studies to developing a symphony. In the last few years they've been studying in Waterdeep specifically. I can picture them being the more curious and excitable type.
I'm fine with any choice of either to fit the party composition. =) Once a character is picked i can flesh out even further.
Origins: Calpurnia was born in Waterdeep, the City of Splendors. Her experience growing up there did not live up to the city's moniker. Her mother was among the city's poorest residents, and she traded Calpurnia for coin the first chance she got. It could have been much worse. She was raised by the Xanathar's Thieves Guild and was expected to earn her keep through pickpocketing and burglary. When she was old enough, she graduated to assassination, taking whatever jobs were available. She always had one rule though. She'd only take jobs to eliminate bad people. Luckily, there was no shortage of contracts out on various thugs, mercenaries, and even more unsavory types.
Recent History: Calpurnia recently took on the job of assassinating a local merchant who was, unbeknownst to her at the time, actually a high-ranking member of the Black Network. The assassination was successful; she garroted him from behind while he was sitting down to an opulent meal. Unfortunately for Calpurnia, the Zhentarim aren't known for their kind and forgiving natures. Already accustomed to living life discreetly and avoiding notice at all costs, Calpurnia is now effectively on the lam, doing whatever she can to avoid the knife in the back that she knows is coming eventually.
