Not for Twig or Garth:

Garth started when he heard the noise downstairs. He quickly packed up the introductory magic book, and two more random books Twig indicated was about magic.

"Should we go figure out what's going on down there?" He said to Twig, staring at the doorway.

Not for Twig or Garth:

Twig nodded, and followed Garth’s lead, listening for any more sounds. 

Twig and Garth head out of the study and down into the second floor through the trap door. They don't see anything amiss on the second floor, though the wind has stopped.

"Everything seems okay up here, let's see if the source of the noise is downstairs." Garth said to Twig as he headed for the main staircase.

Garth and Twig go down the stairs to the first floor and come face to face with a Brown Bear in the middle of the hallway. 

Initiative:
Garth: 10
Twig: 10

Brown Bear: 18

Twig's turn, then the bear's turn, then Garth's turn.

Twig pulls out her crossbow, Ready to loose a bolt into the bear should it show any aggression. Twig looks to see where the bear may have come from. 

Garth quickly looks from side to side to see if he can determine where the bear came from. He remains in place, Ready with his sword.

"I wouldn't recommend covering yourself in honey and laying on the ground." He quietly said to Twig, being careful not to startle the bear.

Spoiler for Garth 

The bear just stares at them and waits to see if they take any hostile action. He prepares to attack should they do anything to provoke him.

Neither Twig nor Garth have any idea where the bear came from.

Seeing that the bear just appears to be watching, twig takes a couple steps back towards the main entrance doors.

“Hey there, bear. We don’t want any trouble. Are you looking for a way out?” She says in a calm tone, though she is clearly nervous.

Twig looks over her shoulder at the main doors and opens them, moving cautiously to not startle the bear. Twig backs up to the staircase, trying to give the animal a wide berth should it wish to exit.

Jack reverts back to halfling form.

"Well if you don't want any trouble, we shouldn't have a problem." Jack says. "But I would like to know what you are doing here. I assumed I was here alone."

“So how many of you guys are there?" Jack asks

“There were four of us, but then one of us was a ghost, then three of us, but one disappeared. Now just us two. Where did you come from? We’ve been here for at least 5 hours and would probably have noticed eachother.” Twig says with a smile. “I’m Twig, and this is Garth”

(oh yeah. For Twig and Garth. Oops. Forgot to say a bit when you were leaving the attic. 

You see Rivana standing there with no body next to her. She smiles and says: 

“Thank you for putting an end to this madness. Myself, Astabar and the others spirits trapped here can now find peace. The manor and all its contents are yours. May the fortunes of the gods smile upon you.”

Then she fades away.)

"Well I've been in this house for about 15 minutes. So maybe you were just upstairs when I walked in. This house is weird. I mean you blink and things change. But you said you had a ghost with you?" Jack says.
