As he reaches the other side and steps off it a few stones on it crumble and fall into the river.
Ebonitus thinks to Mambo "Well done, let him go." He then races forward towards the river, a little downstream of the bridge and tries to communicate with Dawnbringer "Can you hear me? Where are you?" All the while scanning the river and surrounds for any sign of Lukian or Dawnbringer.
Both were on guard in their own ways; and despite their injuries both visible and not, they seemed ready to fight to the death if need be to finish the job at a moment's notice. D.O.R.K initially seems to ignore Torunn, as the giants -- be they distant specks by then or not -- yet occupied the majority of her attention. At least they did... until the dwarf challenged her by title. And though she had already begun to feel it undeserved after the past few conflicts, even to the point of looking to the others for direction, her attention jerked immediately to him, eyes still red despite combat being long over. Before she can say anything however, the tirade continues without interruption. Certainly not from her at least, as the point about the Orcs cut deep.
Had she not chatised the others about the events of Nightstone? Or at least brought up a similar point in its regards? The same to when it came to the Hill Giants, and Lukian's misgivings up to almost the very end about eliminating the family of gluttons. If she were a normal humanoid, her head would've been bowed in shame well before he poked her hard enough not leave her rocking back and forth in place. Instead, she stood silent and staring back at him offering no excuse, nor pushing the blame his way for not having done anything -- absolutely not thing to change their course of actions.
Meanwhile, Vark, having decided half way into the dressing down to simply go seeing about the sword, wisely slipped away from the conversation to do just that! And its not until after it that both Beedo (and presumably Vark, if able to retrieve the sword), return to the statue that was D.O.R.K's side. The former of which is for once quiet but looking impressed at Torunn as he watched the dwarf walk off. Quiet until Devin speaks and leaves him chuckling a little. "Yea.. ya folks seem to make a rye mess of f'ings er'rey so often. Kinda impressive, really. But, I'll be right be'ind ya!" He declared, and started to turn to leave; only to be given pause by a softly spoken "Wait"from D.O.R.K.
Confused, he turns to look up and see her eyes barely held yellow tint to them; and even then, occassionally flickered from one color to the next as she spoke to him. She then kneel down to eye level with the pair of goblins, and after a moment's pause, spoke calmly and softly, "Here is your next assignment. You are to continue following my.... Following Toruun. Protect him on his journey. And if he should make plans to return to Lantan, and if you are still committed to following as a disciple of the Red Knight, you are to seek my... my old teacher. She will not only continue to guide you, but see you are paid your dues for this assignment. I assure you."
Beedo eyes her suspiciously and starts to open his mouth to say something, only for Vark to clamp a hand over his mouth. This right riles the goblin up to the point that the two start to get into a slapping fight; but, they are halted at their names being stated by D.O.R.K in a calm but firm tone of voice. "I am aware, Beedo. That too what is owed will be paid in interest regardless by my Master my stead. I swear it upon the title of the Mother." She flashes through a few symbols with her hand before pressing it briefly to her temple. "And if you should decide after his return to Lantan, or if he should take up more permanent residence in a city of safety, you are free to walk your own path after."
Vark nods solemnly and holds out both Heartbreaker and Lukian's sword(if again able to retrieve them). D.O.R.K only takes the latter, and pushes the former back in his direction. "Keep it. You will need it. And, if you present the marking on the haft to my teacher, she will take your words as true. Now off you two. And may the Red Knight watch over you, and gift enlightenment in your time of need."With that, she rose, spun on a heel, and marched for Golemgote intending to get him moving in the direction of following after Devin.
During D.OR.K.S dressing down Vark and Beedo slip away to see if they can retrieve Dawnbringer. They do so with a remarkable level of cooperation which demonstrates that they have learnt something under the tutelage of D.O.R.K. As Vark steps out onto the bridge another stone gives way. He quickly steps back and with a level of bravery never previously displayed, Beedo takes a rope ties it around his waste and flings one end to Vark saying something in Goblin before stepping carefully out onto the bridge. A few more stones give way as he moves to where Dawnbringer is lying but he manages to get to the sword pick it up and rush back to solid ground. As he gets there everybody hears Dawnbringer's voice in their minds "may the Morning Lord's grace shine on you servant of my friend's friend. I do not know what would have happened to me if I had fallen into that river."
Ebonitus is somewhat confused by the goings on, he was of the opinion that the giants were being destructive of infrastructure that could be used to cross the river and when we approached they attacked us. Ebonitus keeps his thoughts to himself however, as Toruun departs and continues to follow the river downstream to see if they can locate Lukian.
