Dekhan will roll the ball bearings and then step out and block the stairs holding Talon in a high two handed grip. Your bugbears won’t save you, Strix! I’m coming for you!
Varinth casts his spell. It's a 15-foot cone, so only Eyepatch and Bugbear 2 are caught within the area of effect.
Eyepatch DEX save: 14
Bugbear 2 DEX save: 8
Eyepatch dodges most of it, but Bugbear 2 roars with pain and alarm. The oil on the steps also catches fire (the bugbears will take damage at the end of their turn).
(alas I think you're right :( sorry for delay, been out of reception all day )
Strix shouts "intruders! Engage! I warn Iarno, i get redbrands!"
(Intent is to give them cause to push up the stairs rather than double back, and that since only the guy Strix's fighting can see him due to walls, he's not fully blowing his cover. By the time Zoria gets here he might even be able to pin this attack on her.)
2 handed spear thrust 7 for 4 with follow up headbutt 11 for 5
Strix, the bugbear is moving a little faster than you thought, and both your spear thrust and your headbutt hit empty air as he rushes towards the stairs. He's not even really aware that you attacked him.
Honestly, given that the bugbears can't move or take actions, it seems a bit redundant to stick to any kind of initiative order during this first round. Vaz and Strix have taken their turn already, so everyone else, feel free to join in.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dario does what rangers do:
Attack: 15 Damage: 8
Sadly, the arrow hits Eyepatch's shield dead centre and does no damage.
Scupper, Incantis and Zoria are up.
Dekhan, that's fine. I've updated your character sheet, and also added your longsword +1, Talon. Remember that it's a full action, not a 'free' interaction with an object, to don a shield.

Incantis will open the door as an interaction, hex bugbear 3, cursing his strength, and let loose an eldritch blast. He will then move out of the way into C6.
Incantis, your blast of force goes wide, through the open door, and hits the far wall of the room beyond. The unconscious goblin twitches, but doesn't wake.
No advantage, sorry. They are surprised to see you, but they do see you. :)

Dekhan, are you holding your sword in two hands? Have you put away your shield?
As jsmall is able to come on a little less often than normal for the next few days, I hope he won't mind me rolling initiative on Incantis's behalf.

(Although he might mind my terrible rolls!)
Initiatve order: Round One
Group A: Strix, Varinth, Scupper (in any order)
Group B: Dario first, then the three bugbears (the bugbears are all 'surprised' in the first round, and won't move or take actions or reactions)
Group C: Dekhan, Zoria, Incantis (in any order)
Group A is up. That's Strix, Vaz and Scupper.
Vaz does as per his previous post sans Dekhan and his balls.

(does surprise mean that they can't contest a shove?)
Strix, Shifter Shadow Monk in Lost Mines of Phandelver ¦ Sihegiall Human Soulknife Rogue in In Search of Molly McGuffin
RAW says they contest it as normal, as far as I can tell.
If you hold until the stairs are covered in ball bearings they might have a harder time...
Initiative: 17
I had in mind that Incantis was waiting behind the door, mind if I add that in?
Incantis, half-elf warlock (great old one) 4/bard 1 ● Thorok Earthhand, hill dwarf mountain druid 6/grave cleric 2
Cragmyre Ironseed, earth genasi ancestral barbarian 3 ● Cyrus Natriallae, aquatic half-elf warlock of the deep 3
That's fine - map updated.
Scupper and Strix are up.

Yeah, I had put the shield away so I could hold the BBs and my sword in order to get the drop on the bugb’s.

Cragmyre Ironseed, earth genasi ancestral barbarian 3 ● Cyrus Natriallae, aquatic half-elf warlock of the deep 3
Unseen attacker for advantage on that attack? :p

Thank you! Yeah, Dek is gonna go for quick damage on these guys and hopefully not die.

Worth a shot ;)

I posted earlier that I'd wait at C6 with bow drawn for the door to open.
If Incantus opens door, Scupper fires.
Attack: 18 Damage: 8
I believe that's BB 3 that takes the hit
