OOC: Thanks guys for not making me feel bad about my mistake. Brownbeard, if the leader would have lived, he could be playing dead. It would give me the satisfaction of killing him again. lol
We must chase the fleeing goblin and stay within 5ft, forcing him to use Disengage as his bonus action. Otherwise he'll use Hide as his bonus us action and we'll never catch him.

OOC: Chases work a little differently than combat. (P253 in the DM handbook).
If it ends up in a chase: Escaping works more on line of site and a stealth check. Dashing can be used 3 (+your constitution modifier) times for double distance travelled per round. Attacks and other actions count as normal but come at the cost of travel distance.
In this case I can’t see it being a very long chase though. If the goblin survives this round and you guys pursue, it’ll automatically become a chase
Watching the goblin flee, Zyltris is quick to react. Grabbing his hand axe he times his throw and preempts the beasts movements. A second later the handaxe soars through the air. It strikes the goblin in the back with a solid thump. The goblin winces with pain but continues running for the corridor
Again, the divine guidance of Tyr comes to Beetles aid. Charging through the thicket and across the chamber, he ducks avoiding Zyltris’ thrown axe. In a few more strides Beetle is upon the goblin, his longsword plunged deeply into his targets torso. The goblins escape is thwarted and he stops, quite literally, dead in his tracks. As Beetle withdraws his sword, his quarry slides to the floor.
The company gathers themselves in the chamber littered with dead goblins and blood. A few seconds later the vines wither and withdraw back into the point from which the grew. Above the crackling fire a strange sound can be heard. Muffled yells coming from the bound prisoner on the chambers upper level.
OOC: All the goblins are dealt with, the chamber is returned to its starting state.
Beetle moves to the prisoner to free him. “We were looking you you.” He looks him over a bit, “ How badly are you injured? Can you make it back to town?”
The prisoner, a near 50 year old human, stretches his neck and hands as his bindings are removed. His appearance suggests a life full of conflict and adventure. Old faded scars and hard calloused hands, the spoils of many wars long passed. For now however he groans in pain.
”My dear boy, I am glad you stumbled upon me. These beasts have been torturing me for so long, day and night.”
He tries to stand but his strength disappears from under him. Reluctantly he stays seated.
”You we’re looking for me you say? Now why would that be? And how did you find me here?”
Zyltris listens in on the conversation with Sildar as he picks up his axe and surveys the room, looking for any clues and/or treasure the goblins may have had in the room.
The old man clenches his fist repeatedly, trying to loosen himself up after being bound for so long. He turns to Syna.
“Aye lad that was me. And my companion Gundren. We were travelling from Neverwinter to Phandalin when these beasts ambushed us. I’m of no interest to these goblins, or the black spider. Whatever or whoever that is. He wanted them to send Gundren to him at a place called... Craggle?...no Cragmaw Castle I think it was. They took him and his map, supplies and my weapons and armour to this spider fellow.”
He watches Beetle heal his wounds and starts to feel stronger and invigorated. He sighs lightly.
”Thankyou my friend. That is much better. We needed more men like you in the Lords Alliance. I must apologise, I am Sildar Hallwinter, Marshal of the Griffon Cavalry of the city of Waterdeep and an agent of the Lords Alliance. I’m afraid I must ask you all to accompany me to Phandalin with great urgency. I need to find my contact in the village by name of Iarno Albrek. He’ll surely know where this BlackSpider is hiding.”
He gestures to Serak, pointing to a dead goblins nearby short bow.
”Firstly however. I believe we have some Goblins to deal with. If you’d be so kind to pass me that bow, we’ll make short work of this pathetic little band”

Zyltris Perception (Wisdom) check: 15
34, 3, 20,13
Searching around the chamber, Zyltris finds a scattering of coins around the fireplace. The goblins had obviously been playing some sort of game before they were attacked. In total he collects 21 Silver coins and 17 Copper Coins
“Well Sir Sildar arm your self with what ever you can from these goblins and gladly join us in clearing out the rest.” Beetle looks around at the bows, swords, and shields. “Then we will all head back to Phandalin together.”

OOC: Don’t worry about it. This has always been a learning game and your allowed to make mistakes!
Best way to learn is by getting things wrong
If it makes you feel better I’ll add the extra HP onto someone else somewhere!
OOC: Lol....now back to that one goblin we need to stop, 3 more chances I think or he gets away
OOC: You could also chase him, just because he tries to flee doesn’t mean you have to let him get away. Up to you guys

OOC: can you tell me how far the goblin is from Zyltris?
OOC: About 20ft of floor. The first 5ft are through vines so it counts for double as difficult terrain. So it’ll add up to 25ft in total
Ok. Zyltris pulls out a handaxe and throws it at the goblin.
